With all the talk lately about an X-Files revival I felt the need to post this pic of David and Gillian at the Paley Fest last year. I watched it on a live stream and they were as adorable on stage as they were here beforehand. This is why I need my X-Files back!!
That earsplitting SQUEE you all heard yesterday? Yeah, that would've been from me. :-) DEAR LORD PLEASE LET THIS HAPPEN!!

Agents Mulder and Scully may be headed back to the small screen. Speaking at the Television Critics Association winter press tour, Fox Group chairmen and CEOs Dana Walden and Gary Newman revealed that the network is in talks to reboot "The X-Files," the hit supernatural drama starring Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny that ran from 1993 to 2002.
“It’s true that we’ve had some conversations on 'X-Files,'” Newman said. “We’re hopeful of being able to bring that back at some point.”
"Gary and I both worked [at 20th Century Fox Television] through the entire run of 'The X-Files,'" Walden added. "It was a great experience. We’ve maintained good relationships with [series creator] Chris [Carter], David and Gillian. We’re very hopeful, but it’s hard. The actors are very busy. They have a lot going on. Chris has a lot on his plate, so it’s just trying to carve out the time.”
Anderson, who played Agent Scully on the show, recently sparked fervor after expressing her desire for a series reboot during a Nerdist Podcast interview. Nerdist and the actress then set the Internet ablaze by asking fans to show their support for a return of the show with hashtag #X-Files2015.
Well, hashtaggers everywhere, it seems the dream may just come true.
There was the funniest dialogue exchange on the new episode of NCIS: New Orleans this week. It was between Sebastian (the conspiracy theory-loving lab tech) and a Coast Guard investigator. They were talking about the government:
Sebastian: "Makes you wonder what else they're keeping from us."
Coast Guard: "We should call Mulder and Scully."
Sebastian: "Best villain - Tooms or Pusher?"
Coast Guard: "Tooms."
Sebastian: "Best episode - Squeeze or Drive?"
Coast Guard: "Squeeze."
Bwhahaha! That was so brilliant and unexpected! Though I'd have to say that I loved Pusher in the first episode he was in, not so much in Drive. But Tooms was delightfully creepy!
• Saw my first Doctor Who eps with Nine and Rose last night. I like Eccleston! Not as much as Tennant but he's got his own charm. Shame he only did one season. Looking forward to watching the rest of his eps and seeing how Captain Jack Harkness was introduced and what "Bad Wolf" means in relation to Rose.
• Became a Kickstarter backer last night for a fan-made full feature length film based on Star Trek: Enterprise. Enterprise! Not DS9 or TNG. You could've knocked me over with a feather! I was very impressed with the footage they've already shot and the trailer. Amazing special effects, great sets. Their goal was $10,000 and they raised it in only two days! They're up to about $12,000 now. If they hit $15,000 all of us backers will get even more goodies.
• I keep hoping someone else from Enterprise besides Anthony Montgomery will be added to the Creation Star Trek convention here in June. Connor Trinneer, Scott Bakula, Dominic Keating. Would love to see those guys again.
• Saw the first ep of The Real History of Science Fiction on BBCA the other night. It was quite good. Liked all the actors and directors and writers they talked to. Hope the rest of the series is just as enjoyable.
• Did a total double take at the mall yesterday when I saw a life size cardboard cutout of David Tennant for sale outside For Your Entertainment. I laughed as I passed by but now I'm thinking that would be awesome to take with me and put outside my door at Media West next month. Hmmm….
• Sad that the final episodes of Warehouse 13 have started and that there are so few of them. Why on earth SyFy canceled this show I'll never understand. Thank goodness they at least brought Mark Sheppard back!
• OMG, how cute are Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny going back and forth on Twitter now that David has an account?? I ♥ Mulder and Scully 4 EVER!
I got my new TV Guide in the mail the other day and as soon as I flipped it open there was this totally awesome photo:
MULDER AND SCULLY 4-EVER!
I still can't believe it's been 20 years. X-Files was my first fandom ever. It's where I got my AgtSpooky name. It's where I got my start in…everything. Going to conventions, writing fanfic, taking part in discussion forums, etc.
A lot of people say "don't pick a screen name that relates to one fandom" because then when you leave the fandom you're stuck with it. But you know what? Even though I'm not active in XF anymore, I have truly become Spooky. And I love it! Everyone knows me by that. Heck even my license plates say SPOOKY. :-)
X-Files will always mean so much to me. Not only was it a kick-ass show but it had strong, kick-ass characters who still cared deeply for one another. Chris Carter created magic with that show and I'm glad that FOX took a chance on it and stuck with it. It may have unraveled a bit at the end, but the final episode was all that I could have wished for.
I hope Carter was inspired by the overwhelming support at Comic Con and he does write another movie, this time sticking closer to the core of what XF is. Because the world could always use more Mulder and Scully, keeping us safe from aliens and monsters. :-)
What about you guys? What was your first fandom and does it still mean as much to you today as it did back then?
Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny made their Comic-Con Ballroom 20 entrance on Thursday among darkness, with flashlights in hand, to celebrate The X-Files‘ 20th anniversary and survey the show’s future. (Yes, we said future.)
They were joined by a star-studded lineup of writers/EPs – creator Chris Carter, Vince Gilligan (Breaking Bad), Howard Gordon (Homeland) and John Shiban (Hell on Wheels), to name a few – to reminiscence about Mulder and Scully’s relationship and more.
‘SHIPPER ALERT | What are Anderson’s thoughts on the characters, now that 20 years have passed? “I didn’t realize that Mulder was so cool until a few years later,” shared the actress, “and I thought, ‘Damn. I should have gotten there sooner.’” So what would they do if they ever went out on a real-life date, as one fan asked? “Have sex,” Anderson replied bluntly. Added Duchovny after the laughter died down: “And then maybe have dinner.” The Californication star also reflected on the couple, IDing one of his favorite Mulder/Scully moments as “the one from ‘Post-Modern Prometheus’ where we get up to dance.”
FIGHT THE FUTURE, PART TWO? | Duchovny attributed the pull of the series, even many years later, to the fact that “the show had any possibility. The show is so flexible and could encompass any ideas. We could do it forever.” And then he hinted that when the team can get together again, he’d love to do another… something? Anderson, for her part, ruled out a limited series (à la the upcoming 24 revival), but said “a film would be great.” So will there be another feature flick? “You need a reason to get excited about doing it again… and this [crowd enthusiasm] is very exciting,” Carter hedged.
THE X COMICS | While on that titillating topic, don’t expect the new X-Files comics to bleed into any possible feature ventures. “The stories are more comic-booky,” said Carter. “They’re their own mythology.”
LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT | Get ready to awwww. Asked when they realized Mulder and Scully where really in love, Carter replied, “I think it was when [she] first walked into his office in the basement.”
FAITH VS. SCIENCE | Why did Carter to choose to include a religious thread to Scully’s character on a sci-fi show? “It was natural for me,” he explained. “She was a scientist, but that made her slightly one-dimensional. But if she had a religious upbringing… she had these two warring sides of her character.”

What this article DIDN'T mention, that TVGuide Magazine tweeted about, was that the young man who played Mulder and Scully's baby came out on stage. He's the son of writer John Shiban. Gillian said, "He looks like me. He's our son." AWWWWW!!!
I truly hope that this panel really has reinvigorated Chris Carter to write another movie. The first movie, Fight the Future, was awesome. The next one, I Want to Believe, not so much. So I'm hoping third time's the charm for Carter. [fingers crossed]
