agt_spooky: (Doctor Who)

Saw this car in the parking lot of my office this morning. Sweet! Now I need to find out who it belongs to. I had no idea there was another Doctor Who fan in my building!

Finished watching all of Christopher Eccleston's episodes of Doctor Who last night. OMG, I loved him! He was so quirky but could be deadly serious and he had so much affection for Rose. What a shame that he only did one season. Anyone know why he only wanted to do one? And I notice he's never involved with any of the Doctor Who specials, etc. Was there a falling out with him and TPTB?

Anyway, I just loved his relationship with Rose. He'd do anything to protect her, keep her safe. Easy to see now how this continued to deepen with her time spent with Ten.

Some very good and/or creepy episodes that season. Liked the "Dalek" episode and how it became half human because of Rose. And "Father's Day" was so sad! You knew Pete was going to have to die in the end to set things right. And then there was The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances. I finally find out how Captain Jack Harkness got hooked up with the Doctor! But man, that creepy little kid in the gas mask? Yikes! "Are you my Mummy?" I was glad that Jack hung around for several episodes.

Question on this whole "Bad Wolf" thing. After Rose gets…possessed by the soul of the TARDIS she says she left those words scattered across space and time to lead her there. Okay, I get that. But is there some significance to the actual words Bad Wolf? Why those two words? Am I missing something?

And that's the episode where she turns Jack immortal. Now the Doctor didn't see Jack rise from the dead. Yet when they meet up again a few years later in "Utopia" and Jack confronts him about leaving him on Satellite 5, the Doctor acts like he knew and deliberately left him there because he was this…anomaly. I always thought that was really harsh, considering what they'd gone through together.

Speaking of other characters, am I the only one who couldn't stand Mickey? I did feel bad for him at the beginning, when Rose just basically abandons him and takes off with the Doctor. But then he turns into a glutton for punishment, wanting to be around Rose then getting pissed off that she's infatuated with the Doctor. I was glad he decided to stay in the parallel Earth.

All in all a great season with Nine. Wish he would've had a bit more of a send off before he regenerated, though, like Ten did. It was very…abrupt. Oh! I watched the Christmas Invasion special right after that, David Tennant's first episode, and it's where the Doctor gets his hand cut off. I always wondered how Jack ended up with that hand! LOL!

• Saw my first Doctor Who eps with Nine and Rose last night. I like Eccleston! Not as much as Tennant but he's got his own charm. Shame he only did one season. Looking forward to watching the rest of his eps and seeing how Captain Jack Harkness was introduced and what "Bad Wolf" means in relation to Rose.

• Became a Kickstarter backer last night for a fan-made full feature length film based on Star Trek: Enterprise. Enterprise! Not DS9 or TNG. You could've knocked me over with a feather! I was very impressed with the footage they've already shot and the trailer. Amazing special effects, great sets. Their goal was $10,000 and they raised it in only two days! They're up to about $12,000 now. If they hit $15,000 all of us backers will get even more goodies.

• I keep hoping someone else from Enterprise besides Anthony Montgomery will be added to the Creation Star Trek convention here in June. Connor Trinneer, Scott Bakula, Dominic Keating. Would love to see those guys again.

• Saw the first ep of The Real History of Science Fiction on BBCA the other night. It was quite good. Liked all the actors and directors and writers they talked to. Hope the rest of the series is just as enjoyable.

• Did a total double take at the mall yesterday when I saw a life size cardboard cutout of David Tennant for sale outside For Your Entertainment. I laughed as I passed by but now I'm thinking that would be awesome to take with me and put outside my door at Media West next month. Hmmm….

• Sad that the final episodes of Warehouse 13 have started and that there are so few of them. Why on earth SyFy canceled this show I'll never understand. Thank goodness they at least brought Mark Sheppard back!

• OMG, how cute are Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny going back and forth on Twitter now that David has an account?? I ♥ Mulder and Scully 4 EVER!

I had to put my Doctor Who viewing to the side for awhile but last night I finally finished watching all of David Tennant's episodes, including the specials.

And okay, I admit it, you guys were right - I did end up liking Donna very much. But it was SO sad, what ended up happening to her. I mean, at least Rose and Martha got to keep their memories of their time spent with the Doctor, but Donna had to have them all erased. Broke my heart.

Like I said, I watched the specials - Planet of the Dead (booooring!) and The Waters of Mars. OMG, I was appalled at the Doctor's behavior at the end of that one! What the hell got into him, thinking he could just take it upon himself to change a "fixed" point in time? My jaw just dropped! I knew that poor astronaut/scientist woman was going to kill herself to put things right. So it was no surprise the Ood showed up at the end of that one, signaling the Doctor's imminent demise.

I'm probably in the minority in this, but I can't stand The Master. He's like this over the top cartoon character that just grates on my every nerve. So I was really not happy to find out he was going to be the main focus of the final two episodes, The End of Time parts 1 and 2. And what is it with the Doctor's fascination with The Master? Always trying to save him and go away with him, etc? There must be some backstory there I'm missing.

And geez, again I was pissed at the Doctor's attitude when he has the choice to save Wilfred (I never expected the knocking to come from him and neither did the Doctor!) or not. He's all, "You're not important, but I am! I have more things I need to do!" WTF? And then he's all, "I've lived too long" and frees Wilfred. Again, WTF with the abrupt about-face?

The only thing I truly liked about those last two eps was the last 15 minutes. I have no problem admitting that I was brought to tears as the Doctor made his final rounds to see everyone one last time. Martha and Mickey (they got married??), Sarah Jane and her son, putting Jack and Alonso together (OMG, loved that!), going to Donna's wedding and finally, seeing Rose. That last part confused me for a minute since she didn't know who he was. Until she says it's 2005, right before she meets Nine. Loved him telling her she was going to have a great year.

And then the Ood singing was so beautiful and the Doctor saying, "I don't want to go". Heartbreaking!

What an awesome, awesome ride with Ten and all his companions. Loved it from start to finish.

And now I'm off to start back at the beginning with Rose and Nine!

Hey all, happy Friday!

Sorry I haven't been around for the last several days. Lots of stressful things going on at work that has just drained all of my energy. Thankfully it's over now so hopefully things can get back to normal.

Been watching Doctor Who at night to take my mind off things. I've seen the first three episodes with Ten and Donna, and I have to admit she's made a vast improvement since the Runaway Bride episode. I've seen Partners in Crime, The Fires of Pompeii and Planet of the Ood. The last two were actually really emotional! And yep, you guys were right - Donna doesn't take any of the Doctor's crap. :-) I'm finding it amusing that everyone they meet thinks they're married!

Oh, and was that Peter Capaldi in Pompeii? Isn't he the new Doctor??

Many thanks to [livejournal.com profile] allydenise for telling me about David Tennant in Casanova! Took me ages to find download links but it was so worth it. Just look at him! LOL!

I've only seen the first of three parts but I'm absolutely loving it. Especially when he thinks he's fallen for a man and after first trying to dismiss it he ends up giving into his feelings and kissing him. HOT! Granted, it turned out the man was really a woman in disguise but he didn't know that.

In my search for the Casanova downloads I came across a Tumblr account all about David with a zillion download links to a bunch of stuff he's done. Sweet!

Have a great weekend, everyone!

Well I just watched Doomsday, the final episode of Doctor Who with Ten and Rose. Thank you all for warning me to have the kleenex handy. [sniff, sniff]

I'm glad that she's at least with her mom and Mickey and her (not)Dad and didn't get sucked into the parallel world by herself. At first I was so mad, because she and the Doctor didn't get to have a proper goodbye. So thank goodness there was that final scene, even if it ripped my heart out. The tears running down the Doctor's face, losing contact with Rose before he could tell her he loved her too….[sob]

I thought the entire moment was completely ruined by the immediate appearance of Donna, though. That just happened way too fast. I wanted it to end on a more melancholy, sad note with the Doctor just by himself in the TARDIS.

All in all that was a good season, though. I think my favorite episode was The Girl in the Fireplace. It was so sad!

Right now BBCA is running Martha's episodes again, then they'll get started with Donna's. I'm hoping my initial opinion of her changes for the better.

I'm already an avid comic book reader, so this is great news! And damn, I'm way impressed with the cover art. Here's hoping the interior is just as good.

Matt Smith and David Tennant's Doctors live on, even if you won't see them in brand new episodes of "Doctor Who." The BBC has debuted the covers to the first issues of the 10th and 11th Doctor comic books being released by Titan.
Both covers are by artist Alice X. Zhang, and they're very nice to look at. Along with the covers, the creative teams were also announced. The first five-issue arc for of the 10th Doctor series will be written by Nick Abadzis and drawn by Elena Casagrande. The 11th Doctor will have Al Ewing and Rob Williams as writers, with Simon Fraser providing the art.
The first issues for both issues hit comic book stores on July 23.

So I finally saw my first Doctor Who episode with Rose and the Tenth Doctor. Yay!

For some reason BBCA was stuck on endlessly repeating all the episodes with Martha and about a half dozen episodes with Donna. This week they finally started showing the ones with Rose. I was hoping that they'd actually go back to the beginning, with the Ninth Doctor. I've only seen one ep with Eccelston, the one where John Barrowman is introduced as Captain Jack Harkness. Wonder if BBCA will ever show those.

Anyway, Rose is great and Billie and David Tennant have wonderful chemistry together. I like her as much as Martha. Really looking forward to finding out exactly what happened with Rose and the Doctor, how they got separated. From what I've been able to gather from the Martha and Donna episodes it was pretty traumatic and it seems that the Doctor has never really gotten over losing her.

Do I have any other fellow Whovian's on my flist? I'm only 50 years late to the party, but I made it! LOL!
