Summer TV viewing

So summer is finally upon us and with it comes all sorts of different shows on our TV screens. Here's what I'm watching...
• Crisis - this one just came to an end on Saturday night and I haven't had a chance to watch those final two episodes yet. I'm so disappointed that NBC already canceled this show, because I thought it was brilliant, different and so well written. I only hope the last episode wraps things up as best as it could.
• Starsky and Hutch, Knight Rider, Magnum P.I. - we've got this new station, COZI TV and it's playing all these old shows from the 70's and 80's. Been great watching the three I listed. Still love Starsky and Hutch to death, but OMG, Knight Rider was so bad! LOL!
• Rookie Blue - one of my favorite Canadian shows that ABC imports for a summer run. Lots of cast changes over the last few seasons that doesn't make me happy, but it's still a consistently good show.
• Covert Affairs - this gets started up again tonight. As much as I love Chris Gorham the show has become pretty "meh" for me. I really disliked last season with the single plot line with Henry and I'm hoping we get back to a bunch of different missions for Annie and Auggie this season
• Night Shift - thought I'd give this one a shot just for the heck of it since Eoin Macken from Merlin is the star. OMG, he should never try and speak with a Texas accent, EVER! LOL! Best part of the show is Brendan Fehr playing an in the closet gay soldier
• Motive - another brilliantly written show from Canada that we get as a summer series. I already watched the entire season via download but it's so good that I watch it again every week.
• The Musketeers - another show I was impatient for that I downloaded that just started on BBCA. I've watched the first six episodes so far and I'm enjoying it. I love Santiago Cabrera and he's great as Aramis. With Peter Capaldi cast as the new Doctor Who I'm wondering what's going to happen to Cardinal Richelieu. Will they re-cast the part next season?
• Masterpiece Theater with David Tennant - speaking of the British, my Google alert went off last week and told me about The Escape Artist, a three-part mini-series on our local PBS station. We've seen the first part and enjoyed it (David is great) but man, British law makes NO sense!
So that's what I've been tuning into so far this summer. What are YOUR favorite summer shows?

Date: 2014-06-27 01:11 am (UTC)OMG, yes, Motive is fantastic! Even better this season than last season. Amazing guest stars this season. Jason Dohring is on this latest one. Squee!
I’ve had so many people recommend Suits. I think I should be watching. :-)

Date: 2014-06-25 01:02 pm (UTC)I'm also watching Salem and True Blood at the moment. A friend recommend Penny Dreadful which I'll probably watch soon and I want to watch Halt and Catch Fire, mostly for Lee Pace lol

Date: 2014-06-27 07:49 am (UTC)Weirdly enough, I don't care that much for his character unless he has scenes with John Alden (played by Shane West, the eye candy^^).
The show itself is a mixture of fantasy and horror, but if you watched the earlier seasons of Supernatural, there shouldn't be anything you can't handle. I'm also happy that they don't exaggerate the nudity.
What's interesting is that you often don't know if you should side with the witches or the others, at least that's how I feel. I also like the mythology and I honestly like the show more than I thought I would. The historical setting + fantasy did not sound like something I'd usually watch (which is why I've never tried to watch Game of Thrones), but at the end of every episode I want to know what happens next.

Date: 2014-06-27 01:32 am (UTC)And thank you for Night Shift. I LOVE Brendan Fehr, and can't wait to watch it.

Date: 2014-07-03 12:55 am (UTC)You're welcome about Night Shift! Looks like Brendan's character was take front and center last week when his boyfriend comes home from Afghanistan and gets into a car accident and he has to try and save his life. My cable wasn't hooked up yet so I need to download it. If they kill the boyfriend I'm going to be pissed.

Date: 2014-06-28 02:34 am (UTC)Teen Wolf and Longmire.
I'm watching The Musketeers, but it's not really grabbing me yet. I'll give it a couple more episodes. I need to stay away from the fandom, though. Every time somebody squees about Aramis, I just want to rant at length about how his character turns out in the books.

Date: 2014-07-03 12:53 am (UTC)Aramis - LOL! I know, I know. But I can't help myself because every time there's been a movie or TV show it's been an actor I really like playing him so I can't help but squee. :-)

Date: 2014-07-03 01:14 am (UTC)There has usually been an actor I like playing Aramis too, but he's still a dick. ;-) I've had a crush on d'Artagnan in all of his forms (except Chris O'Donnell--just, no) since I saw an animated version when I was about 5 years old. He is one of my great, long-standing literary crushes, along with Lord Peter Wimsey and Thomas Boniface from The Element of Fire by Martha Wells.
