Morning, all!

Ah, another Monday. Had kind of a lazy weekend. I had planned on taking my monthly trip to my comic book store to pick up all my books, but with gas at $4.20/gallon I couldn't justify the 30 mile round trip. So thanks for that, you jerks in the government for not putting a stop to speculators who are artificially driving up the price of gas when they have no intention of taking delivery. So now I have to suffer.

So instead I spent the better part of Saturday reading. Finished another Quantum Leap book, Prelude, which was kind of disappointing, unfortunately. Got caught up on some shows on the DVR.

The weather was really nice on Sunday, so the hubby and I went out to lunch then did some grocery shopping and the laundry. Very exciting. :-)

I did watch some good movies over the weekend. Not surprisingly they all starred Scott Bakula. :-)

Lord of Illusions - This was bizarre, and at times pretty gross, but good. Definitely not your David Copperfield kind of magic! LOL! And let me be shallow for a moment - I absolutely loved the way Scott's character dressed and wow, was he looking hot running around without his shirt on with that big tattoo on his back. Nice!

A Passion to Kill - This was a fantastic "whodunnit" mystery that kept me guessing right up until the end. Each time I thought I figured out who the killer was I was proven wrong. Really well written. And good lord, Scott had some HOT love scenes in this one. It's no wonder he married Chelsea Field after this movie! LOL!

The Captains - Thanks to my friend [livejournal.com profile] sen1995 I was able to track down this documentary from William Shatner, about all of the actors who have portrayed the various captains on Star Trek. Very interesting! Of course I loved what Scott had to say (and the lovely things Connor Trinneer said about him, too) but also Patrick Stewart, Chris Pine and Kate Mulgrew. But man, Avery Brooks is just too bizarre for me. I ended up having to fast forward through his parts. Scott was riding horses with Bill and singing, which highly amused me. :-)

Unfortunately the weekend ended on a sad note. My uncle called me to give me an update on my aunt, and things look pretty bad. Her kidneys are barely functioning. It sounds like she might not last the week. [sigh] He did send me a photo of himself, his wife, my grandmother, my cousin and my aunt taken at the hospice center when she first arrived. Probably the last photo I'll ever have of her. My uncle said that the hospice center is very nice and that she's being well looked after, which was good to hear. Thanks again for the good thoughts and hugs and support you've all sent me this past month, I've really appreciated it.

You just watched it, too?? LOL! Now that’s a coincidence. :-) Seriously, what’s up with Avery Brooks? He’s just...out there. Still in space on the Enterprise, perhaps? *g*

It was on Netflix. I refuse to pay for cable/satelite any longer, so we've been watching some truly obscure stuff on Netflix! So funny that you were watching this documentary (that no one else has ever heard of, by the way)at pretty much the same time I was!

And as my sister would say, Avery Brooks? Weird-fuckin'-o

I know the reason I never heard of The Captains is because I’m a huge Star WARS fan instead. The only incarnation of Trek I ever watched was Enterprise, soley because of Scott Bakula. I’m so glad my friend Deborah had seen the documentary and told me about it!

I really had to laugh because I’ve been to a ton of Creation cons (mainly for SPN), and they filmed part of it with Shatner at one of the ST ones and there were the same Creation people working that I’ve seen at the SPN ones!

I’m going to DragonCon in September and both Patrick Stewart and Jonathan Frakes will be there. Will be interesting to see them in person after seeing The Captains.

Ummmm... How about $9 a gallon? At least three-quarters of that is tax...

And your aunt? (((hugs))) Good she's where she's being well looked after.

Your gas prices are staggering, no doubt. And all that tax money? Totally insane. I mean I know here the tax money is supposed to go for road work, cut down on tolls, etc. But none of it ever happens and the tolls go up not down. So where exactly is all that money going?

And your aunt? (((hugs))) Good she's where she's being well looked after.

This is the first experience I’ve had with someone in hospice care and I’m glad to know that the staff takes excellent care of those in their final days. Can’t even imagine how hard that would be, knowing the people you’re looking after will soon be gone. I’m very thankful for those who work there.

Very sorry to hear about your aunt. Though Hospice is a great facility. I plan to go there when it is my time (hopinfully not for quite awhile as yet). I support it where I can.

Holy crap, that man has done a *ton* of movies and four TV series, too. I had no idea until I hit up his IMDB page a couple months ago. Now I’m having fun tracking everything down!

Thank you, hon, I appreciate it. I hadn’t talked to my uncle on the phone in years, so while the reason was hard it was lovely to get caught up with him. And I’m very grateful for the photo.

"LOI"--I really like Clive Barker. And Harry D'Amour is a way cool name for a PI, isn't it?

"APTK"--Glad you liked it!

Prayers and peace to your aunt. I'm so glad she is in good and caring hands and that your uncle is keeping you in the loop.

Sending you love and hugs and lots of kitty kisses...

Oh, totally! He was just sexy all the way around. :-)

Definitely! I was really impressed by the writing. Kept me guessing the entire time, just like Scott’s character.

Prayers and peace to your aunt. I'm so glad she is in good and caring hands and that your uncle is keeping you in the loop.

Thank you, sweetheart. ♥ ♥

Badly, unfortunately. But since there’s nothing more the doctors can do for her it’s not surprising. We don’t think she’ll be with us much longer. Thanks so much for asking, I appreciate it.
