From E!Online:
Denise in Janesville, Wis.: I'm hoping you can answer this question since it has turned into a very heated debate among the Supernatural fandom. The so-called hot topic is this: Does Misha Collins' contract with the show end this year, or does it run through the newly announced season six? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
We checked on this for you, and insiders tell us that as of right now, Misha Collins' Supernatural contract is just through to the end of the current fifth season—in part because when his deal was being worked out, there was no such thing as a season six.
Sources close to the CW Award-winning Best Supporting Actor are "hopeful" that Misha will be asked back for season six, but as of right now, folks close to the recurring player are in the same holding pattern as the rest of us.
News about whether or not we'll get more Misha should come down over the coming weeks and months as the writing staff sorts out storylines for season six.
So, do you guys want to see more of Castiel/Jimmy in season six of Supernatural? Use the comments to tell the powers-that-be how you feel about Misha! It might make all the difference in the world...

Personally I hope that Misha will remain next year. I really love Cas and would hate to lose him. In what capacity an angel would play post-apocalypse on the show I'm not sure, but I hope there's a way to work him in.

Date: 2010-02-17 10:03 pm (UTC)Perhaps the journey of an angel who spent a good amount of time cut off from Heaven, searching for God, and working with The Two Vessels to stop Lucifer and end the Apocolypse isn't over when the fat lady sings... maybe he has more to learn about himself and how to handle his almost-total-immersion into humanity before he can once again appreciate what it means to be an angel.
If there's a story for the boys after all of this war? Then I'm sure there could be a story for their guardian angel as well, contracts willing.
*shrug*
Just a thought.

Date: 2010-02-18 03:52 pm (UTC)Cas?
Date: 2010-02-17 11:08 pm (UTC)I think the writers are not going to say because they could spoiled the story. But I think they are going to say that maybe Cas could do a few appareances in season 6, they always say: in supernatural anyone could back.
Re: Cas?
Date: 2010-02-18 03:52 pm (UTC)I truly hope he sticks around!

Date: 2010-02-18 03:50 pm (UTC)I, too, want the apocalypse storyline over with and thankfully that will definitely be happening and we'll be starting fresh in season six.
I've never felt that Cas has come between the brothers in any way. I feel that he's been quite the ally for them. Besides Bobby, he's truly been the only regular/semi-regular that I've liked in years. Can we say Ruby and Bela? Barf and good riddance!
So yeah, if Cas can pop up every now and then next year I'll be totally find with that.

Date: 2010-02-18 09:24 am (UTC)I love Cas WAY TO MUCH...it's probably unhealthy LOL ...not only that...DEAN NEEDS HIS ANGEL!

Date: 2010-02-18 03:49 pm (UTC)But Cas? He's a winner! And SPN is a show where anything is possible, so I believe that there can be a way to keep him. Because Dean needs his angel! :-)

Date: 2010-02-18 03:49 pm (UTC)Lord knows he's the first for me in years. Bela and Ruby - barf, gag and good riddance!
And I do think there are a couple ways they could keep him, but of course, it depends on how the season ends.
This is a show where anything is possible, so I, too, believe that there can be a way to keep him.
I'm thinking they may not announce Misha's participation or not until after the season finale, because if they are going to keep him (and I hope so), how he sticks around would spoil the last episode before time.
Good point! We'll have to be all nervous wondering Castiel's fate.
But I guess what it really comes down to is the budget the CW gave the series for season six.
Which I'm sure the CW will cut yet again, instead giving more money to stupid vampires. :-/

I think the same. what if they end the damn apocalypse in this season, then, what will be the space to fill Misha is the angel is not a need. that´would be strange. because then, there must be demons and, demons again, what a boring thing
