Leverage - The Order 23 Job
It was the Eliot-Hardison Show last night and it was freakin' AWESOME!
The Order 23 Job was made of win last night. :-)
But once again, TNT is fucking with the airing order. The Order 23 Job was supposed to be episode number two, coming before The Tap-Out Job. And with Eliot's storyline in these last two, seeing Order 23 first would've made more sense, going along with WHY Eliot is a fighter.
Anyway, here were my favorite highlights from last night:
• Parker was SO pleased with herself with her "poison" on a string trick. :-)
• The "white nurses stockings" and the look Eliot and Hardison give each other was priceless! And thus starts the Eliot-Hardison Show. *g*
• When Eliot and Hardison start fighting over the shirt I nearly peed myself laughing. They were like two little kids, fighting while Nate was talking. God, little things like that are why I love this show.
• Eliot and Hardison in full cop uniform was HOT!
• Hardison's "let's talk in code, I'll mention Star Trek" had me howling, along with Eliot saying he had no TV. But dead people have TVs according to Hardison. :-)
• And here Chris Kane steps up to the acting plate with the beginning of Eliot's storyline with the battered young boy and his father. Once again we see a crack in the tough guy's armor and a glimpse into his past. I can't be the only one thinking that Eliot himself was physically abused as a child. Every scene Eliot had with the young boy nearly broke my heart.
• "Did you just give a guy a nosebleed with the power of your mind?" LOL! Again, kudos to the writers for this kind of dialogue.
• "Dr. Wrath of Kahn" - ROTFL! Who knew that Hardison was actually going to use a ST reference?? And it saved Eliot's life!
• Eliot fighting with a big metal bowl was awesome. :-)
• Parker punches a guy! Woot! Go, girl!
• The end of this episode was just fantastic. I knew Eliot was going to find some way to save that boy and get him away from his abusive father. And to see Eilot sitting in that car outside really, really touched me. I love Eliot more and more with every single episode.
I'm usually very interested in the actual con going on in the episodes, but last night it really took a backseat to all of the Eliot-Hardison interaction and the abused boy storyline. Did anyone else feel the same way?
Ok, there you have it! My thoughts on The Order 23 Job. What did YOU guys think of it? And who else is pissed that they no longer show the coming attractions for next week's episode until FIFTEEN MINUTES into Dark Blue?? I don't like being held hostage. You lose, big time, TNT. Not cool at all.

Date: 2009-07-30 02:12 pm (UTC)I loved last nights episode and really am loving the whole Eliot-centered shows so far. Is it me or does it seem to be the Eliot show? Kane is a hell of an actor, he rocked it out last week and now this week!
You have so much to answer for my dear, I'm crushin on the boy big time now!

Date: 2009-07-30 07:49 pm (UTC)This preview thing really is bull. I'm hoping that they go back to showing them right after Leverage soon, because if you haven't gotten hooked on Dark Blue 4-5 weeks after it got started, you're not suddenly gonna start watching. So give us back our previews, TNT!!

LOL! Oh, I love being a fandom enabler. :-)

My favorite thing about Leverage is it makes you think, makes you pay attention, makes you laugh, and might even make you cry. Eliot's interaction with the little boy was perfect and yeah, I totally think there is some abuse in his past.
What is UP with TNT and the 'let's show these out of order' deal? *smacks them* And the whole 'no preview unless you watch Dark Blue' thing? They can shove that. I'll just wait and see the preview online, thanks. Cause DB didn't catch my interest enough for it to hold me hostage for my preview. So there, nyah nyah nyah. *raspberry*

Date: 2009-07-30 07:48 pm (UTC)Yes, it totally makes you think! Those are my favorite kind of shows, and why I don't watch sitcoms at all. I like depth and intelligence and Leverage delivers on both of those, big time.
I'm tired, too, of TNT messing with the airing order. Do they do this to all of their shows?? Have these networks learned nothing of the mess that came from Firefly with FOX doing this?? I would find it SO frustrating as a show's creator, not knowing what episodes are going to air when, when you're trying to tell a cohesive story!
And yeah, I'm done waiting through 15 minutes of DB for the previews. It's crappy of TNT to be doing this. [Blows raspberry at them as well]

Date: 2009-07-30 04:39 pm (UTC)i was like please please let Eliot save that boy and it happened lol

Date: 2009-07-30 07:47 pm (UTC)I know, I kept trying to figure out HOW Eliot could do something about the boy when confronting his father directly really didn't do anything. Glad he figured it out!
And yeah, if anyone plays more different roles than the others, it's definitely Sophie. Kudos to Gina!

Date: 2009-07-30 07:57 pm (UTC)exactly! its been on for weeks and I just don't like the show, so i just keep it on mute and glance at the screen every now and then to make sure the preview hasn't come on xD
although seeing Nicki Aycox (Meg) on the show last night was a nice little surprise for me xD

Date: 2009-07-30 08:49 pm (UTC)But Eliot was the Knght in shinning armor...again)))I loved his scenes with Randy!the one when he`s telling him that the boy don`t have to be afraid...OMG! did you see his eyes? and the last scene just blew me away...it was very powerful ending!...but was rather dissapointed that we wasn`t shown any kid!Eliot flashbacks...
...I didn`t know that it was supposed to be the 2nd episode originally...Actually it would make more sense to put it as the 2nd one and make The Tap-Job as the 3rd, you right about that...
oh, and Eliot fighting with Alec about the shirt was just MUAHAHA!!!

Date: 2009-07-31 07:42 pm (UTC)It's tricks like that that make me so impressed with the writing staff from week to week. :-)
I loved his scenes with Randy!the one when he`s telling him that the boy don`t have to be afraid...OMG! did you see his eyes?
Yes! His eyes, his facial expressions - kudos to Chris for the emotions he conveyed in that scene.
and the last scene just blew me away...it was very powerful ending!
It just made my heart melt, seeing Eliot sitting in that car, making sure that boy was going to be okay and get the help he needed.
I didn`t know that it was supposed to be the 2nd episode originally...Actually it would make more sense to put it as the 2nd one and make The Tap-Job as the 3rd, you right about that...
Yeah, because we would've gotten a hint here about Eliot's past, about him possibly being abused as a child, leading right into the Tap Out Job where he explains WHY he fights.
oh, and Eliot fighting with Alec about the shirt was just MUAHAHA!!!
Again with the little things the writers throw in there! Loved it!

Date: 2009-07-30 09:11 pm (UTC)Can we just call it the Eliot show now? :P I think it's an interesting way for the writers to reveal Eliot's history because he's not really the sort of man to talk about his past. What they've implied in the last two episodes is an abusive childhood where he learned to fight to keep from being the man his father was.
It makes me curious to see if they'll dedicate a couple shows to each character so we can understand why they became criminals, or if they just felt it was Eliot's back story that was the only one hidden enough at this point to explain. I mean, we know about Parker and Hardison both being foster kids so we can guess at the bad things that happened there (even for Hardison who found a loving caregiver in the end). We understand Nate's fall. The only other person we really don't get is Sophie and I honestly think we'll find that she's the one that didn't have it that bad, that turned to the life for more superficial reasons. But... I love the Eliot centered shows.
I loved the Eliot/Hardison moments and god Hardison cracks me up! I love how Eliot fights with everything around him, he might be a fair person, but there's no such thing as fair in a fight when you go at those stakes so I love that he just uses what's at hand (though nothing beats the oysters in The Wedding Job :P)
Love that Eliot took care of that boy on the side, that none of them knew what he was doing. Besides giving us a little bit more of his past, it also shows Eliot getting the job done, not with strong arm tactics. Sort of makes me wonder if something is going to happen to Nate in the near future. They're setting Eliot up a little too much to be a focus of something. Or if something big is going to happen to him... :P
Tee hee hee... can't wait til next week :P

Date: 2009-07-31 07:42 pm (UTC)Awesome! It really was a great episode, wasn't it? :-)
What they've implied in the last two episodes is an abusive childhood where he learned to fight to keep from being the man his father was.
Exactly! And I like that it's a kind of "read between the lines" thing, makes you think.
or if they just felt it was Eliot's back story that was the only one hidden enough at this point to explain
Could be, because his past has always remained pretty closed off.
The only other person we really don't get is Sophie and I honestly think we'll find that she's the one that didn't have it that bad, that turned to the life for more superficial reasons.
I have to totally agree with you about Sophie. She seems to just get a kick out of duping people and stealing from them. And we've seen that whole warehouse of stuff she's stockpiled that she's stolen, so yeah, she's pretty much just in it for the money, I think!
I loved the Eliot/Hardison moments and god Hardison cracks me up!
I never thought Hardison would turn out to be such a comedic character!
so I love that he just uses what's at hand (though nothing beats the oysters in The Wedding Job :P)
"Did you just kill a guy with an appetizer?" LOL! Best line ever!
Love that Eliot took care of that boy on the side, that none of them knew what he was doing.
Wasn't that great? He's not quite ready to reveal that softer, more compassionate side of him, nor what's probably going to turn out to be child abuse in his own past.
Sort of makes me wonder if something is going to happen to Nate in the near future. They're setting Eliot up a little too much to be a focus of something. Or if something big is going to happen to him... :P
Oh man, I never even thought of something like that! Yikes!

Date: 2009-07-31 02:48 pm (UTC)Eliot's tough hard shell is a gooey soft center. Definite signs of child abuse and Chris told the whole story with his eyes when he looked at the boy. I don't think a flashback scene was even needed. We got the message loud and clear. I love having the time to focus a little more on the character back stories and since Eliot is so closed up it's nice to see these little glimpses of his more human side. Last weeks episode would've made more sense if this one aired first as DD intended. TNT is definitely frustrating. Thanks to Gina being pregnant and having less air time it seems their giving it to Eliot and Hardison which is fine by me. The shirt scene....what can I say and Hardison talking and complaining the whole time Eliot was talking to Randy...too much! Oh yeah I hate the whole waiting for promos too. I've been getting them at the TNT site, I don't have the patience to wait through the other show.

Date: 2009-07-31 07:39 pm (UTC)Me, too! Like he's not quite ready to reveal that gentler, more compassionate side of him, nor what's probably going to turn out to be child abuse in his own past.

Best. Description. Ever. :-)
Definite signs of child abuse and Chris told the whole story with his eyes when he looked at the boy
His eyes, his facial expressions, were fantastic in each scene with the boy. He really did tell the story of his past without even speaking. Great job, Chris!

Yeah, because we would've gotten a hint here about Eliot's past, about him possibly being abused as a child, leading right into the Tap Out Job where he explains WHY he fights.

Totally works for me! :-)
what can I say and Hardison talking and complaining the whole time Eliot was talking to Randy...too much!
Wasn't that great? Not only was it humorous, but it was also kinda like Hardison was worried about Eliot and just kept talking and talking, waiting for Eliot to finally say something back to him.
Oh yeah I hate the whole waiting for promos too. I've been getting them at the TNT site, I don't have the patience to wait through the other show.
I'm just gonna go and start watching them at TNT's site then, too. I'm tired of sitting through Dark Blue. Even with Nicki in it!
