This one's for all the Sentinel fans on my flist. :-)

I finally got my office painted at home so I can now unpack all the boxes and put everything away. This weekend I tackled several boxes and came across all sorts of Sentinel things. Among them was this picture below of myself and Garett Maggart.

Back in 2005 I was lucky enough to have been a part of helping run the Cascade Convention. I videotaped the panels and also got to escort Paul DeMeo around from table to table during the breakfast event.

It was during the breakfast that I got this awesome picture. Everyone was milling around, waiting for everyone to get their food and take their seats and Garett was just standing there, looking around. I walked up and asked if I could get my picture taken with him, and he's all like, "Barb! Sure!". And before I can hand my camera to [livejournal.com profile] charityflint, Garett has wrapped his arm around my shoulder, pressed his face against mine, plucked the camera from my hand and took this great photo of the two of us:

I absolutely love the way it came out, and just the fact that Garett snapped the picture himself really makes it special to me. :-)

When I saw him next, at the following Moonridge event, I brought the photo, which I had put in a black mat. He really got a kick out of it and remembered when it was taken, signing it "Nice pic".

That was the last Moonridge event I've been able to attend, and I really, really need to make firm plans to go to the next one, because I've really missed seeing Garett and hanging out with my Sentinel friends. :-)

~~~~~
P.S. - on a totally different topic, the Def Leppard / Poison / Cheap Trick concert on Friday was AWESOME! Andrew and I had a fantastic time. *g*
Glad you like the photo! Garett is such a sweetheart. :-)
I couldn't take any photos at the concert because they didn't allow cameras inside. :-(
It's so nice when actors you like are nice to their fans..
It really is. It's always scary meeting an actor for the first time, because all you know of them is their on-screen persona. They could be quite different in person! Which, unfortunately is what happened at the first Sentinel convention I was at. I met Bruce A. Young, who played Simon Banks and he was incredibly rude and making sarcastic comments. It really tainted my viewing of Sentinel from then on.
But luckily both Garett and Richard Burgi couldn't be two sweeter guys. :-)
Oh, his eyes are just to die for!
We're all really lucky that both he and Richard Burgi are sweethearts who really love their fans. Great guys! :-)
Thanks! He was so funny when he snatched the camera and snapped the pic. It could've come out a lot worse! :-)
Garett! Yay! I would love to go to Moonridge one of these days. And that boy needs some work. I haven't seen him since he was on CSI Miami. Burgi I see all over the place.
Garett is SUCH a sweetheart and Moonridge is the perfect place to get to know him. He's open and relaxed and so freaking funny, especially when he's auctioning off the animals and he's got a giant snake wrapped around him. :-)
And yes we need to see more of him! CSI is the last thing he's done. He just seems to be perfectly happy being a carpenter. Which is kind of a shame, because he's a great actor!
I've long said that he needs Richard's agent. :-)
Given that I have seen other photos taken in a similar manner this one of the two of you turned out really well.
Thanks for sharing.
Thank you! I'm just impressed that a photo he snapped in about 0.3 seconds turned out as good as it did. Gotta love Garett. :-)
Oh, wanted to let you know I haven't forgotten about scanning in some of my pics of my Sentinel set tour. Now that my home office is just about finished I can concentrate on fun things like that instead of painting and unpacking boxes. *g*
Oh wow Barb, thanks for sharing that one again. I love that one blue eye. I was standing right near you when he did that. I didn't think you would get anything from it but he's right, it is a nice pic! When he signed it for you didn't he say he did shots like that all the time!!! I seem to recall standing near the table at Moonridge when he said it. I've never had a chance to talk to Bruce but I agree, Richard and Garett are the nicest sweetest men and the most appreciative actors I have ever met. I do hope you can make another Moonridge. I'm hoping to go next year as well...
Oh gosh, June, that's right you were standing right there when he took the pic! He's such a goof. :-) Man, wasn't that convention amazing? It was so great to get all those guys in one place again. I really wish they could get Richard to Moonridge at least one more time. But he's always busy, busy, busy. *g*
Count yourself lucky you never talked with Bruce. He was extremely rude and basically wanted nothing to do with the fans at the very first TS convention in 1996. Thank god Richard and Garett made up for his behavior in spades! Awesome guys, both of them. :-)
CasCon was the best. It was my first experience with the guys and I loved every minute of it. I wish Richard could make it to Moonridge again too. We almost had him in '07 but at the last minute he had to back out. As for Bruce, Garett and Richard more than made up for his attitude. How was he at CasCon? He looked a little more into it, but that could've been Garett's playfulness. You can't help but have fun when he is around.
For as much as I loved SenCon and CouverCon, you picked the right one for your first interaction with the guys. A nice size crowd at CasCon, unlike the madness of the previous two. Yikes!
As for Bruce at CasCon - I honestly can't remember a thing about him! I truly was ignoring him this time around.
Yes, Richard needs to make at least one more appearance at Moonridge! Do you know if he and Garett talk on a regular basis?
Man, now I want to go back and watch the vids from CasCon! :-)
I totally ordered the DVD's of that con ...
Used to love The Sentinel, even if I only started watching it like three years after the show had already ended. It had such a strong fanbase and it still does. It's amazing.
Sorry for the incredibly late reply! I'm still trying to get caught up on all my backlogged comments from when I was in Vancouver. :-)
The Sentinel will always hold a special place in my heart. It was my first, true fandom that I actively took part in, from the first day the show came on the air. I made friendships then that are still just as strong today, thanks to Sentinel bringing us together.
Our fanbase was pretty rabid back then (heck, we brought the show back from cancelation!) and I still have people coming to me today to get copies of the episodes. Good to know we're still going strong! Jim and Blair forever! :-)
I was totally amazed when I found out the fans had brought the show back! That's dedication! and I'm glad you did because seriously, leaving us with that ending was just mean, lol.
The Sentinel was my longest "obsession" and I guess my first true fandom as well. <3 I bought the first season as soon as it came out and I still have a bunch of episodes on my laptop.
Honestly, if the last episode hadn't left off with Blair "dying" I wonder if we would've rallied together so strongly. I'm just glad we did! That's an experience I'll never forget. :-)
It irritates me to no end that Paramount hasn't released seasons 2-4. With all the crap that gets put out on DVD and not the rest of Sentinel?? Grr....
