I need to have my head examined.
And so does
charityflint for following along with me!
This morning we went and bought tickets for the Supernatural set tour, during the convention up in Vancouver. Yes, we actually paid that outrageous price. [hangs head]
I HATE Creation for doing this and I should've told them where to stick their set tour. But I know if I didn't do it I'd shoot myself in the head, listening to the stories everyone would be telling about the tour (and the picture in the Impala!) all weekend.
Back during our Sentinel days, Charity and I got to go on a tour of all of the sets during a convention and it's something I'll never forget. It was just amazing to be standing in the Cascade Police station and in Jim and Blair's loft.
Thinking about that experience is what made me decide to bite the bullet and buy the SPN ticket - because this will probably be a once-in-a-lifetime thing and I didn't want to miss out.
Any other crazy people on my flist buy a set tour ticket, too?
Is it August yet?? :-)
And so does

Date: 2009-06-02 08:02 pm (UTC)And yeah, I'm not one to constantly buy clothes or jewelry or shoes. I much prefer books and fandom things!

Date: 2009-06-02 08:01 pm (UTC)Unfortunately there is strictly NO cameras permitted on the tour. :-( Bummer! But I'll definitely write up a report!

Wow, you remember my TS set pics?? Awesome! I just looked at them myself about a week ago, as the hubby and I were unpacking still and I came across that photo album. :-)

Date: 2009-06-02 05:02 pm (UTC)I also remember that set tour for Sentinel, and you're right, it was a great memory. I'm hoping this one will be even better.
I have since noticed that the tours are no longer on the Creation website. Not sure what that means. If you click through to the buy tickets page they're still there, so maybe they're just rewording the blurbs about them (because it wasn't really clear when the set tours would occur) or maybe they've already sold out!Nevermind, they're back up already. Not sure why they were down for awhile.(no subject)
Date: 2009-06-02 08:00 pm (UTC)Wow, you ended up doing both tours, eh? I bet your wallet's screaming! :-) But yeah, it's only money. *g*
Wasn't the TS one great? I still remember crawling through The Temple of The Sentinel set, with the two reflecting pools. :-) I've got my fingers crossed that this one is fantastic, too.

Date: 2009-06-03 01:15 am (UTC)Barb, the TS tour was amazing. We not only got to see the loft (OMG!) and the station but also the Temple of the Sentinels (is that the right name?). It was great! And, if I recall correctly, either free or a very, very minimal cost.
And you went to the Rally in Pasadena, didn't you, where we got to tour the PetFly studio/offices? That was great fun, too!
I read the Creation announcement last night and got a kick out of this:
Fans will be offered guided tours of the Supernatural standing sets
I thought, what standing sets does SPN have? Bobby's house and . . . the Impala. That's it, I think. They will probably have a hotel room or two set up (at least I am hoping for lots of hotel rooms next year) for whatever eps are filming about that time. But I agree that you really can't pass up this chance. And I bet some of the actors/directors/others might show up.
I can't go to this convention but I think Creation missed a big chance of getting some of the producers/directors/writers to appear at the Con. Besides seeing Richard and Garett, the director/writer/producer panels at the TS con were my favorite parts, where you really got to learn stuff about the show.
Barb, I am again going to be living vicariously through you! And I expect lots of pictures, reports and (hopefully) video!

Date: 2009-06-03 08:00 pm (UTC)I loved crawling through the Temple and seeing those twin reflecting pools. And remember, this was before that episode had even aired, so we had no idea what that was all for! And yeah, we didn't pay hardly anything, compared to the $349 I just paid Creation. Ouch! And unlike the TS tour, where we could take as many photos and video as we wanted, there are NO cameras permitted on the SPN tour. Give me a break!

Yes! That was awesome! I remember they showed us a clip of TSbyBS and the art department was very cool.

LOL! Chris and I said the same thing!

Yeah, I'm thinking we'll be seeing the sets of the current ep, but I'd kill to see the hotel room from Provenance!
And I bet some of the actors/directors/others might show up.
That would be awesome!!

I agree. This con would've been the perfect opportunity for that. Because like you said, it was great having those kinds of guests at the TS cons. I truly thought that Eric would be at this Vancouver one. I'd like to see him in person.

Hee! I'll do my best to capture it all, Deborah! :-)

Date: 2009-06-04 02:16 am (UTC)I promised myself I would never go to a Creation Con again, because of this, but then the one in LA came around, and I broke my own promise to myself. Of course, I bought the cheapest package I could (the plebe seats, I like to call them) but still. I buckled.
Well, have a kick ass time on the set visit. Now that you've made the decision, you can put it aside and just look forward to how cool it's going to be.

Date: 2009-06-04 04:48 pm (UTC)That's it EXACTLY. And I truly hate them for doing it. I'm sorry, but I already paid a fortune for the gold ticket. The tour should've been included for us, then everyone else could've purchased it if they wanted.

Same thing happened with me, after a Creation Stargate con I went to. We were treated like crap by the Creation staff and the con was just run horribly. And I kept my promise until the first SPN con came around. Damn them! LOL!

That's what I keep telling myself. Stop thinking about the price and just enjoy myself. :-)

Date: 2009-06-05 08:54 pm (UTC)In my experience, you get the tickets you have paid for, at the time you register, without having to queue a second time, and Creation don't schedule all the things you have paid for at the same time with 3 hour queues for everything so that it is physically impossible to attend them. Reserved seating is also a big plus to save the 6am queues every day to get a seat.

Date: 2009-06-09 01:56 am (UTC)Wow, really?? I'd heard Asylum had it's problems but I didn't realize things were run so horribly. There aren't even assigned seats at Asylum? That's ridiculous! That's just so basic I'm stunned that they don't do that. You're right, it does make Creation look efficient and I never thought I'd say that!
