I keep telling myself it's a once-in-a-lifetime experience

I need to have my head examined.

And so does [livejournal.com profile] charityflint for following along with me!

This morning we went and bought tickets for the Supernatural set tour, during the convention up in Vancouver. Yes, we actually paid that outrageous price. [hangs head]

I HATE Creation for doing this and I should've told them where to stick their set tour. But I know if I didn't do it I'd shoot myself in the head, listening to the stories everyone would be telling about the tour (and the picture in the Impala!) all weekend.

Back during our Sentinel days, Charity and I got to go on a tour of all of the sets during a convention and it's something I'll never forget. It was just amazing to be standing in the Cascade Police station and in Jim and Blair's loft.

Thinking about that experience is what made me decide to bite the bullet and buy the SPN ticket - because this will probably be a once-in-a-lifetime thing and I didn't want to miss out.

Any other crazy people on my flist buy a set tour ticket, too?

Is it August yet?? :-)

[identity profile] jmystic.livejournal.com 2009-06-02 03:31 pm (UTC)(link)
I bought a set tour on a soap opera once with some friends. Was such an awesome day..needless to say I'm really good friends with one of the actresses now. It's crazy but everyone deserves to treat themselves. I bought gold tickets to the next Con in LA... Some girls like shoes and purses.. My friends and I like all things SPN :)

[identity profile] agt-spooky.livejournal.com 2009-06-02 08:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Wow, definitely sounds like your soap opera tour turned out for the best. :-)

And yeah, I'm not one to constantly buy clothes or jewelry or shoes. I much prefer books and fandom things!

[identity profile] shadow-of-doubt.livejournal.com 2009-06-02 04:08 pm (UTC)(link)
I bought the set tour and the location tour. Eeeeee!! I'm so excited!!

[identity profile] agt-spooky.livejournal.com 2009-06-02 08:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Wow, you did both?? Bet your wallet's screaming at you! LOL! I really, really hope we have a good time!

[identity profile] celtprincess13.livejournal.com 2009-06-02 04:23 pm (UTC)(link)
I wondered if you were going to do it. And I know exactly what you mean, about not wanting to give Creation more $$. But you're right, you'd be so bummed hearing about it if you didn't do it. Damn them.

But, but, it will be SO COOL and you can take pictures for us and it'll be like we were there TOO!

[identity profile] agt-spooky.livejournal.com 2009-06-02 08:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, it took me about 0.2 seconds to decide to do it. :-) Especially when the hubby reminded me that I'd just be hearing about it all weekend and kick myself for not doing it.

Unfortunately there is strictly NO cameras permitted on the tour. :-( Bummer! But I'll definitely write up a report!

[identity profile] jenni-fromtexas.livejournal.com 2009-06-02 04:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Lucky girl! Well, hopefully the experience will be worth the cost. I remember your set tour pics of the TS set. You seemed to have had a blast.

Have a wonderful time!

[identity profile] agt-spooky.livejournal.com 2009-06-02 08:01 pm (UTC)(link)

Oh boy, it had BETTER be worth the cost! LOL!

Wow, you remember my TS set pics?? Awesome! I just looked at them myself about a week ago, as the hubby and I were unpacking still and I came across that photo album. :-)

Hey, I'm hanging my head with you. I couldn't resist, either. I ended up doing both the set tour and the location tour. I figure it's a once in a lifetime thing and it's only money, right? *cringe*

I also remember that set tour for Sentinel, and you're right, it was a great memory. I'm hoping this one will be even better.

I have since noticed that the tours are no longer on the Creation website. Not sure what that means. If you click through to the buy tickets page they're still there, so maybe they're just rewording the blurbs about them (because it wasn't really clear when the set tours would occur) or maybe they've already sold out! Nevermind, they're back up already. Not sure why they were down for awhile.

Oh man, I didn't even remember that you were going to Vancouver! Cool!

Wow, you ended up doing both tours, eh? I bet your wallet's screaming! :-) But yeah, it's only money. *g*

Wasn't the TS one great? I still remember crawling through The Temple of The Sentinel set, with the two reflecting pools. :-) I've got my fingers crossed that this one is fantastic, too.

Afraid to fly and I can't drive so L.A. is not a good place for me to vacation, right? That being said, I got my big, square, butt on a plane and visited the NCIS set in California a few years ago. TOTALLY worth it. Have fun, hon!

[identity profile] agt-spooky.livejournal.com 2009-06-02 08:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh wow, you went on the NCIS set?? Cool! I watched that show for the first several years (until I just couldn't stand Ziva anymore and Tony acted so stupid I had to turn it off). Did you get to see Abby's lab??

[identity profile] deanvica23.livejournal.com 2009-06-02 07:31 pm (UTC)(link)
it's what the supernatural set tour ? you will visit the set? how the prize?it's on their site? you make vancouver ?

[identity profile] agt-spooky.livejournal.com 2009-06-03 07:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, I'm going to get to go onto the set in Vancouver in August. We'll get a tour and then get to have our picture taken in the Impala! The convention was selling tickets and I was lucky enough to get one. I can't wait!

[identity profile] agt-spooky.livejournal.com 2009-06-03 07:26 pm (UTC)(link)
It was insanely expensive - $349. Like I said, I need to have my head examined! I've got my fingers crossed that it will indeed be worth it. :-)

I would have totally done it, but I just can't justify shelling out the money, especially since it's so expensive.

I know exactly what you mean. Like I said, I totally need to have my head examined, what with my gold ticket, the photo ops and now this tour. My credit cards are screaming at me.

Barb, the TS tour was amazing. We not only got to see the loft (OMG!) and the station but also the Temple of the Sentinels (is that the right name?). It was great! And, if I recall correctly, either free or a very, very minimal cost.

And you went to the Rally in Pasadena, didn't you, where we got to tour the PetFly studio/offices? That was great fun, too!

I read the Creation announcement last night and got a kick out of this:

Fans will be offered guided tours of the Supernatural standing sets

I thought, what standing sets does SPN have? Bobby's house and . . . the Impala. That's it, I think. They will probably have a hotel room or two set up (at least I am hoping for lots of hotel rooms next year) for whatever eps are filming about that time. But I agree that you really can't pass up this chance. And I bet some of the actors/directors/others might show up.

I can't go to this convention but I think Creation missed a big chance of getting some of the producers/directors/writers to appear at the Con. Besides seeing Richard and Garett, the director/writer/producer panels at the TS con were my favorite parts, where you really got to learn stuff about the show.

Barb, I am again going to be living vicariously through you! And I expect lots of pictures, reports and (hopefully) video!

I loved crawling through the Temple and seeing those twin reflecting pools. And remember, this was before that episode had even aired, so we had no idea what that was all for! And yeah, we didn't pay hardly anything, compared to the $349 I just paid Creation. Ouch! And unlike the TS tour, where we could take as many photos and video as we wanted, there are NO cameras permitted on the SPN tour. Give me a break!

And you went to the Rally in Pasadena, didn't you, where we got to tour the PetFly studio/offices? That was great fun, too!

Yes! That was awesome! I remember they showed us a clip of TSbyBS and the art department was very cool.

LOL! Chris and I said the same thing!

Yeah, I'm thinking we'll be seeing the sets of the current ep, but I'd kill to see the hotel room from Provenance!

And I bet some of the actors/directors/others might show up.

That would be awesome!!

but I think Creation missed a big chance of getting some of the producers/directors/writers to appear at the Con

I agree. This con would've been the perfect opportunity for that. Because like you said, it was great having those kinds of guests at the TS cons. I truly thought that Eric would be at this Vancouver one. I'd like to see him in person.

Barb, I am again going to be living vicariously through you! And I expect lots of pictures, reports and (hopefully) video!

Hee! I'll do my best to capture it all, Deborah! :-)

I'll be going too! I just can't let my brian grasp on how much money I'm spending! LOL It will totally overload and spaz out on me. But This might be my only con, because I decided to not go to Chicago and instead go all out for this one, so eh why not go nuts and live a little. *nods* ...I'm young, I can pay my credit cards off eventually. LOL

[identity profile] agt-spooky.livejournal.com 2009-06-03 07:23 pm (UTC)(link)
You're going on the tour, too?? Woot! I can't even look at my credit card statements since this whole convention was announced, what with the gold ticket and the photo ops and now the tour. Ack!

Awww, but you're not coming here to Chicago now?? Bummer! Here's hoping Vancouver is awesome for you then!

[identity profile] moonlit-violets.livejournal.com 2009-06-03 03:30 am (UTC)(link)
I didn't even know about the tours until I read your post but to hell with the cost; I'm gonna ride that bus! *squee!*

[identity profile] agt-spooky.livejournal.com 2009-06-03 07:22 pm (UTC)(link)
LOL! Hop on board the crazy bus with the rest of us lunatics willing to shell out that kind of dough!

I'm only just going to be able to afford the trip as is, and now they offer this?

Sad thing is, I'd probably do it if I could.

[identity profile] agt-spooky.livejournal.com 2009-06-04 04:50 pm (UTC)(link)
I know exactly how you feel. It's already costing me an arm and a leg to go up there, and I hate that I gave into Creation's extortion. They really take advantage of us, but I went and gave in as well, like an idiot. [sigh]

[identity profile] samazon13.livejournal.com 2009-06-04 02:16 am (UTC)(link)
Damn it, those bastards get you every time, don't they? The mercenary jerks know just what to dangle on the hook so us fangirls open our damn wallets and fork out the ridiculous amounts of dough they are charging. ARGH!!!!

I promised myself I would never go to a Creation Con again, because of this, but then the one in LA came around, and I broke my own promise to myself. Of course, I bought the cheapest package I could (the plebe seats, I like to call them) but still. I buckled.

Well, have a kick ass time on the set visit. Now that you've made the decision, you can put it aside and just look forward to how cool it's going to be.

That's it EXACTLY. And I truly hate them for doing it. I'm sorry, but I already paid a fortune for the gold ticket. The tour should've been included for us, then everyone else could've purchased it if they wanted.

I promised myself I would never go to a Creation Con again, because of this, but then the one in LA came around, and I broke my own promise to myself.

Same thing happened with me, after a Creation Stargate con I went to. We were treated like crap by the Creation staff and the con was just run horribly. And I kept my promise until the first SPN con came around. Damn them! LOL!

Well, have a kick ass time on the set visit. Now that you've made the decision, you can put it aside and just look forward to how cool it's going to be.

That's what I keep telling myself. Stop thinking about the price and just enjoy myself. :-)

Hi, lurker here again, yes, I did fork out - and I think they timed it perfectly for the die-hard fans who were at Asylum, because compared to the fan treatment by the company "organising" Asylum, Creation look fantastic - both professional and efficient.
In my experience, you get the tickets you have paid for, at the time you register, without having to queue a second time, and Creation don't schedule all the things you have paid for at the same time with 3 hour queues for everything so that it is physically impossible to attend them. Reserved seating is also a big plus to save the 6am queues every day to get a seat.

[identity profile] agt-spooky.livejournal.com 2009-06-09 01:56 am (UTC)(link)

Wow, really?? I'd heard Asylum had it's problems but I didn't realize things were run so horribly. There aren't even assigned seats at Asylum? That's ridiculous! That's just so basic I'm stunned that they don't do that. You're right, it does make Creation look efficient and I never thought I'd say that!
