Monday already?

I would absolutely LOVE a do-over of this past weekend. Heck, the whole past WEEK. [sigh]
My stress level has been off the chart these last two weeks. Starting with John being out of town for 10 days, then the basement flooding, then finding out Chloe is sick and now dealing with behavioral problems with our other cat, Mandy.
I had a mini-migraine for six days straight last week. It's been years since my migraines have been this out of control. It really peaked on Saturday when I was only up and out of bed for three out of 24 hours.
Let me back up a bit. We received the second blood test results for Chloe and it did confirm hyperthyroidism, unfortunately. So we've gone forward with making plans to get her admitted to Radiocat, the facility that will do the radioactive iodine treatment on her. My vet is forwarding them all of the bloodwork they've done for their review and we need to get a set of chest x-rays done (another $300.00) this coming weekend to make sure her heart is strong enough to go through the procedure. Once all of that is take care of, she'll be admitted on May 3rd and will have to stay there for four days. Then we'll have special instructions on how to interact with her for the following two weeks. Total cost for this is $1050.00. [sigh]
As if dealing with a sick cat wasn't enough, our other cat, Mandy, has been acting up like crazy. Ever since we brought Chloe home from the vet the very first time, Mandy has been growling and hissing at her. It's been really upsetting. Thankfully Chloe just completely ignores her. The last thing I need is the two of them physically fighting with one another. But this has been going on for a week and I don't see it stopping. :-(
I finally felt better on Sunday, so John and I took a break from all the stress and went to the movies. I FINALLY got to see The Ghost Writer with Ewan McGregor. Only about 600 theaters across the country are showing this (why, because it's by Roman Polanski?), one of which happens to be a hole in the wall in the town where I went to high school. And it's been 20 years since I've been to that theater!
Ewan looked fantastic (and yes, we got to see his naked butt!) as did Pierce Brosnan, but the plot in general left me really confused. So much so that John had to actually explain it to me when the movie was over! LOL! I'm not into politics, so no wonder I didn't quite get what was going on. :-)
We went out and had a nice dinner afterwards then went back home to sit and read for a bit. John had his newspaper and I had the second Cal Leandros book, Moonshine. I started it last weekend but didn't get very far, but put more of a dent in it last night.
And now here we are, Monday morning. Blech. How was YOUR weekend? :-)

Date: 2010-04-20 01:58 am (UTC)And how cool that you've got a DW account, too! I've been pleasantly surprised by how many of my LJ friends are over here, too. I don't feel so lonely!
I bet your other cat is freaking out because Chloe smells like the vet
I have a feeling you're right about Mandy. It's so strange because she didn't act any different toward Chloe until we brought her home from the vet. She's been sick all along for the last several weeks, but Mandy didn't treat her any differently. Now tonight she allowed Chloe to lick her head and didn't make a peep, but 10 minutes later was back growling at her. [sigh]
I keep forgetting to ask you, where do you get or find all these pretty sounding books you read? From amazon?
Yep! Most started out with a recommendation from a friend (like the books by Chris Owen and Rob Thurman) and since I liked them I decided to rec them, too. :-)
