Monday already?

I would absolutely LOVE a do-over of this past weekend. Heck, the whole past WEEK. [sigh]
My stress level has been off the chart these last two weeks. Starting with John being out of town for 10 days, then the basement flooding, then finding out Chloe is sick and now dealing with behavioral problems with our other cat, Mandy.
I had a mini-migraine for six days straight last week. It's been years since my migraines have been this out of control. It really peaked on Saturday when I was only up and out of bed for three out of 24 hours.
Let me back up a bit. We received the second blood test results for Chloe and it did confirm hyperthyroidism, unfortunately. So we've gone forward with making plans to get her admitted to Radiocat, the facility that will do the radioactive iodine treatment on her. My vet is forwarding them all of the bloodwork they've done for their review and we need to get a set of chest x-rays done (another $300.00) this coming weekend to make sure her heart is strong enough to go through the procedure. Once all of that is take care of, she'll be admitted on May 3rd and will have to stay there for four days. Then we'll have special instructions on how to interact with her for the following two weeks. Total cost for this is $1050.00. [sigh]
As if dealing with a sick cat wasn't enough, our other cat, Mandy, has been acting up like crazy. Ever since we brought Chloe home from the vet the very first time, Mandy has been growling and hissing at her. It's been really upsetting. Thankfully Chloe just completely ignores her. The last thing I need is the two of them physically fighting with one another. But this has been going on for a week and I don't see it stopping. :-(
I finally felt better on Sunday, so John and I took a break from all the stress and went to the movies. I FINALLY got to see The Ghost Writer with Ewan McGregor. Only about 600 theaters across the country are showing this (why, because it's by Roman Polanski?), one of which happens to be a hole in the wall in the town where I went to high school. And it's been 20 years since I've been to that theater!
Ewan looked fantastic (and yes, we got to see his naked butt!) as did Pierce Brosnan, but the plot in general left me really confused. So much so that John had to actually explain it to me when the movie was over! LOL! I'm not into politics, so no wonder I didn't quite get what was going on. :-)
We went out and had a nice dinner afterwards then went back home to sit and read for a bit. John had his newspaper and I had the second Cal Leandros book, Moonshine. I started it last weekend but didn't get very far, but put more of a dent in it last night.
And now here we are, Monday morning. Blech. How was YOUR weekend? :-)

Date: 2010-04-20 01:40 am (UTC)I, too, wish our little furry four-footed children could talk to us. It would make life a whole lot easier!
If you love Ewan, definitely check out The Ghost Writer. He's the star of the film. Oh geez, I went and saw Goats, too! LOL! Stupidest movie EVER but all of the Star Wars references made it worth watching. :-)
As for DW and LJ - I can't access LJ at work anymore, so that's why I opened a DW account. This allows me to crosspost to both accounts but to have the comments come to my DW inbox so that I can talk to you guys during the day. But I'm not planning on leaving LJ anytime soon. :-)

Date: 2010-04-20 01:41 am (UTC)I have a feeling you're right about Mandy. It's so strange because she didn't act any different toward Chloe until we brought her home from the vet. She's been sick all along for the last several weeks, but Mandy didn't treat her any differently. Now tonight she allowed Chloe to lick her head and didn't make a peep, but 10 minutes later was back growling at her. [sigh]

Date: 2010-04-19 03:28 pm (UTC)And migraine - I had mild migraines for years and wouldn't wish worse than I had on anyone! (Stopped getting 'em when I hit the change of life.) Yeah, bed and a darkened room is about the only answer. Just try to relax and think positive!

Date: 2010-04-20 01:46 am (UTC)Argh, migraines. Nice to meet a fellow sufferer. :-) Got mine as soon as I turned 16 and they haven't let up since. But hey, if menopause is the cure, I've only got another...10 or 12 years! Ugh. *g*

Date: 2010-04-19 03:56 pm (UTC)Oh, poor Chloe. So you´re really going through with this radioactive treatment then?? It creeps me out a bit (no, a lot, actually!!) to be honest, but I´m no vet, so......Yeah, cats can be difficult sometimes and Mandy´s reaction right now makes me wonder what you´ll have to expect from her after bringing Chloe home from treatment. But it´ll pass!!!!
My weekend was great, the weather was fantastic, the cherry blossom is in full swing and we enjoyed it a lot. Unfortunately my Monday started with a sick cat too.....but after treating her with homeopathy she´s feeling better now, so the week ahead looks brighter again :-)))
Hope, yours will improve as well - sending positive energy ♥♥♥

Date: 2010-04-20 01:51 am (UTC)Oh, poor Chloe. So you´re really going through with this radioactive treatment then??
Yeah, my little baby's been through a lot with the worst of it still to come, unfortunately. But she's been a trooper so far and you'd never know she was sick but for her hair loss. I'm glad we caught this early and that she'll be strong enough to go through the radiation treatment. It's actually the best treatment, because it's the only cure for hyperthyroidism. The medication would only treat the symptoms for the rest of her life, and I don't want to put her through invasive surgery that might not work. So yeah, having a radioactive cat for a couple of weeks IS kinda bizarre, but it's completely painless to her with no side effects, so we're gonna do it. :-)
I'm glad you had a nice weekend! And that your little furball is feeling better. *g*

Date: 2010-04-19 06:01 pm (UTC)I forgot I had a dreamwidth account! I don't post anything here but that's okay. =) I bet your other cat is freaking out because Chloe smells like the vet but idk, hopefully she will get better.
I keep forgetting to ask you, where do you get or find all these pretty sounding books you read? From amazon?

Date: 2010-04-20 01:58 am (UTC)And how cool that you've got a DW account, too! I've been pleasantly surprised by how many of my LJ friends are over here, too. I don't feel so lonely!

Yep! Most started out with a recommendation from a friend (like the books by Chris Owen and Rob Thurman) and since I liked them I decided to rec them, too. :-)

Date: 2010-04-20 02:09 pm (UTC)IT'S WEDNESDAY
Date: 2010-04-22 01:15 am (UTC)And when you have migraines over control, can you do something to control them, or just you have to endure them?
Jesus Christ Barbara!!! looks like that you are really spending on your cats as they were your children. To me that is so s so so much money to spend in a animal. Maybe I am a cold person, but I wouldn't do that to an animal. just put it to rest. and that's it. Am I so cruel, right? I know.
Hope, indeed, I pray to God, that with all that amount of money your cat can be healed indeed. in order to spending of money worth! Because, that are your cats that you love so much, and who make you happy I guess.
still your other cat is with that behavior?
My weekend? as usual, boring, had to made the meal, catching up with stuff. not so much joy. :P

Date: 2010-04-23 09:44 pm (UTC)I usually just have to endure them if my medication doesn't work. :-(

You wouldn't do that if you saw her. She's not lying around dying. She runs and plays and snuggles. You'd never know she was sick except for the fur loss. We caught this really early so there's no reason to think she won't make a full recovery and have many more years with us.
still your other cat is with that behavior?
Actually, no, thankfully. It's been two days now and she's back to normal. But we have to take Chloe back to the vet on Sunday, so I'm sure as soon as we bring her home Mandy will start acting up again. :-(

Well I hope this weekend is better for you!
