Hey there! Sorry for the late reply. My comments to answer back have gotten out of control!

This is weird to me, because Sarah was created while Supernatural answered to The WB, and now we're talking about The CW - baggage doesn't care over network-to-network

Interesting observation! So you think that this may have been Eric's idea as well, then? I just...after the debacle that Jo turned out to be I'm wondering why Eric would do this again, but now with two women instead, when one didn't go over the first go around.

But I truly believe, at this stage in the game, whatever Kripke does with those two characters is at his discretion.

This could be a good thing, because if these two crash and burn like Jo did, Eric can jettison them at his will and not have to answer to Dawn for anything.

They're supporting cast; background material. On most shows, guest stars get more screentime than the supporting cast the majority of the time.

I'll say it again - I love your optimism. :-)

If anything, I felt that episode solidified the fact that she was too young/immature for Dean,

That's for darn sure! I have nothing against Alona herself, but they really needed to have cast an actress older than her and not quite such a bobble head doll if they were looking for a love interest for Dean, someone like Layla, who I adored. It was just too obvious right off the bat that Dean and Jo didn't have the "love" chemistry, you know?

Which lead to her being written out in BUABS, of course

Which of course was the only episode I liked her in! They wrote her much more mature (finally!) and then she was gone.

... or Kripke would, if he'd tell us something already! Sigh. It sucks that this stuff always happens during the summer, when nobody is giving interviews

Well hey, now that he'll be at ComicCon maybe we'll get some answers! Because you KNOW that at least one fangirl in the audience will demand the lowdown on Ruby and Bela. Keep your fingers crossed we'll get the info straight from the horse's mouth. :-)

I don't know; it could have been Eric's idea, it could have been the network's. Who knows? I just don't think there's quite enough info yet to fall down on either side; my best guess is that it's a mix of both. I really don't know how Eric views the Jo situation ... the biggest problem was obviously casting, and the actresses' initial choice on how to play the character. [And the way Shiban originally wrote her, though Singer's changes were a vast improvement, though obviously too rushed and flawed. The changes did occur in, like, the week before the episode filmed, in his defense.]

They cast Jo as a recurring guest star (sides were released just 2 weeks or so before her episode was filmed - July 8th, roughly 2.5 weeks or so before filming started on 2.02), and didn't put much emphasis on the casting. This time, they started casting a month before filming started, before the 3.01 script is anywhere near done (presumably the main reason why chemistry sides, not script sides, were used), which would presumably give them plenty of time to test a LOT more actresses and to test them with their leads (Jared & Jensen).

I'll say it again - I love your optimism. :-)

Sorry. 95% of the time I'm the glass half-full type. The other 5% I panic like a crazy little panicking thing. It's quite scary, and in order to maintain my sanity, I prefer to be optimistic.

:P

Oh, and - random, sorry - I think told you (maybe someone else?) that casting sides get released 2-6 weeks before an episode is filmed. Pfft. It's more like 2-3, I just can't remember anything. :P But yeah, I've been told scripts are never done that early, and they're still in the editing process after casting sides are released. So ... yeah. :)

YES - that's actually the first thing that popped into my head. They'd better spill something. Granted, by then we should have info on episodes 3.01 and 3.02, so we'll have more info to go on regarding the girls (IF they're appearing in both or either of those episodes and we're lucky enough to have a bit or two from them in the sides OR we get some other insider info :D).

*crosses fingers that there are guest stars in 3.01 and 3.02, so that we actually, well, GET some casting sides*

Just please god, do NOT put these two in the first episode next season, that's all I ask. Can we just please start off the season with just the boys? Please? I just won't be able to take it if they're in the first episode.

Oh gosh, don't be sorry! It's great that you can think positively so much of the time. I've just been burned in the past (with Sentinel) with network interference and can only see doom and gloom.

YES - that's actually the first thing that popped into my head. They'd better spill something.

Well, if CW is making a big deal out of these two girls like we think they are, I'm sure Eric's been told to bring up the subject. As if the fangirls there won't be asking anyway!

Honestly, I hope not! LOL! I mean, I can't wait to see what the next new episodes will be about, I just don't want to see the girls introduced so early in the season like Jo was.

*crosses fingers that there are guest stars in 3.01 and 3.02, so that we actually, well, GET some casting sides*

That's true! No guest stars means no sides. Geez, I'm gonna be a basket case until we find out more information about the girls.
