HAPPY BIRTHDAY
SAM WINCHESTER!
And in honor of your birthday today, the first issue of Supernatural: Origins hits the comic book stores!
So what are YOUR opinion's on Sam's birthday? Does Sam like his birthday? Hate it? What about John? Do you think he ever made a big deal about his youngest's son's birthday? And what about Dean? Think he does something special for his little brother?

Date: 2007-05-02 07:07 pm (UTC)Alright, I'll be the first one to comment here for my boy Sammy's birthday. Goodness knows I love Dean to death (who doesn't?), but for some unexplainable reason I'm still a total Sammy girl and think I probably always will be.
As for if he likes his birthday or not...I'm not really sure. I'd guess he'd probably be mostly indifferent, and maybe a little sad. I bet Jess did something nice for him a couple of times, so it probably makes him miss her more than usual, and it probably reminds him, once again, of just how normal he isn't because he never had "normal" birthdays growing up. And John...I think he might have done something relatively big for the first few years or so, before he got totally wrapped up in hunting and was still thinking about giving his sons the life he had originally wanted for them with Mary. But after that, I'd say he probably didn't make it a big deal at all; he'd acknowledge it and give Sam something (practical, probabaly), but it wouldn't be a big deal.
I can't imagine Dean not doing something special for Sammy, though, every year. Even if it wasn't a big deal and was something small, he'd try to do something really special and meaningful. Though he'd do it in that familar Dean way, where he'd try to brush it off with sarcasm and joking and pretend that he's not getting all emotional over Sam meaning everything to him like everybody (including Sam) already knows he does. *grins*
Speaking of birthdays...do you think they'll ever acknowledge Sam and/or Dean's birthdays on the show? I'd love to see a little something, and it'd make for a good brother moment, I'd say. What do you guys think?

Aww, good point. I can totally see Jess making him dinner, giving him a gift.

Yep, yep, very true. Maybe during his younger school years he got invited to kids parties at their houses and he knew he'd never have anything like that. Poor Sammy!
And John...I think he might have done something relatively big for the first few years or so, before he got totally wrapped up in hunting and was still thinking about giving his sons the life he had originally wanted for them with Mary
Yeah, I can see John trying to do that but soon hunting consumed more and more of his life and things like birthdays fell to the wayside when there was a werewolf to kill.

I absolutely agree. You know all Dean ever wanted for Sam was to have that normal life, and birthdays would be a part of it. Do you think that while Sam was at Stanford that Dean maybe sent some funny card or some little gift?

Oh yeah, typical Dean - can't show those chick-flick emotions, even though we know damn well they're right there under the surface. :-)

Man, I truly, truly wish they'd do something like that - or a Christmas episode - something...domestic between them, how they celebrate things like that when you live in a car and motel rooms. Maybe next year? :-)
