My close encounter with wildlife

Well, my morning got off to an interesting start! I start work early (6:45am) and I'm the first one in the office. So there are no other cars in the lot where my office is located, which is on the opposite side of the building from everyone else. In other words, it's kinda lonely down at this end.
Anyway, we've got this flock of Canadian geese hanging around our end of the parking lot. One of them has made a nest there and we all see her out there every day. Well, when I pull into the parking lot this morning, the geese are in an uproar for some reason. Squawking and honking and a couple of them flew away to land on the building next to mine. I'm like, "what's with these guys this morning?" as I start to swing into my parking space.
And then I freeze. From around the back corner of my building comes a coyote, trotting as big as you please, like he owned the place. My mouth just hung open as he ignored the geese and trotted right past my car. All I could do was watch as this fairly large animal made his way across the whole parking lot and into the forest preserve which borders us on two sides.
This is actually the second time I've seen a coyote in our parking lot, but the first time it was a long ways off, not up close and personal! I kept thinking that if I'd have been about 45 seconds earlier, I'd have been caught between my car and the door to the building when it came around the corner. Yikes! Thanks heavens for some traffic getting in this morning. :-)
So yeah, there's my exciting wildlife encounter! LOL!

Re: Wildlife . . . and CW's summer schedule
Date: 2007-05-02 08:13 pm (UTC)Well please keep your fingers crossed for me that this encounter with an SPN star actually happens! I swear I won't be able to take another cancelation. I'll have to make sure to get two hugs from Jensen - one for me and one for you! :-)
Ok, wait. Jo Ann saw a ZEBRA?? That has got to be explained to me!
Oh wow, a double dose of SPN this summer?? Fantastic! Very nice to see that CW chose our show to double pump. Great news! I, for one, wouldn't mind it being anywhere other than Thursday nights.
to see if Jared might have time to travel to Texas to see a play in June
Hee! Oh, don't tease me, Deborah! But couldn't you totally see Jared doing that, for his best friend's stage debut? Geez, now you're gonna have me straining my neck, looking for Jared! LOL!
is Gina Holden, who played Haley Collins in Wendigo.
You're kidding me! What a strange coincidence. Do you know what part she plays? Thom Kinkade's sister or girlfriend perhaps?
NO cancellation and spoilery review of What Is and What Should Never Be
Date: 2007-05-03 01:07 am (UTC)Oh, there's no way this will be cancelled. This is work - this is the *reason* that appearances have to be cancelled! Trust me - you are going to see Jensen - twice! I just know you are plotting how to get pictures - and maybe video? I so would like to hear him say "I want the truth!"
Yep, isn't that amazing? Just driving along and, if I recall correctly, turned to take a shortcut through a neighborhood, rounded a corner, and there it was. JoAnn, are you there? Tell your story to Barb, please.
Amen! It's going to be a long summer - it would be nice to see the boys twice a week! It would be nice if they didn't rerun the eps on Sunday - just show an episode on Thursday and then a different one on Sunday, to give people just discovering the show a chance to see more of them. And yes, any night but Thursday, but I'm really not holding out much hope that it will be moved.
Oh, I could totally see it - he is from Texas, too, so will probably be home anyway, if filming is done (or for a weekend trip?). And I don't think you will need to strain your neck much - if Jared shows up, you will know it! I would still love to see a picture of you standing next to him - okay, standing between him and Jensen!
I don't know. There is only a first name for her character at imdb - Hope. I checked Kinkade's website (I suffered for you so you don't have to!) - his wife's name is Nanette (and she is described as either his childhood sweetheart or high school sweetheart, so probably the only girl he ever dated) and he has 3 sisters, none of whom is named Hope. So she's either a friend, classmate, maybe Peter O'Toole's character's daughter? No clue. But I liked her in SPN - I used my Dean Wendigo icon in her honor.
By the way, a guy by the name of Ed Martin has posted a review of What is and What Should Never Be. Apparently he got a screener copy or something (not sure how big a fan he is - he refers to Hollywood Bablylon a number of times, but calls it only Hollywood). It's spoilery, but I'd say we already knew about 95% of the stuff in ther - but it's the details that are new - and they make the episode sound even more heartwrenching than I was imagining (and believe me, I was imagining major 'wrench). And though the guy is mysterious about what happened to dad in this alternate reality, from one thing he says I'm afraid I might have been right. If you don't mind being spoiled a little more for this one and want to read the review, go here:

I will only post one line from it here, because it is something everyone who comes by your LJ already knew:
This week's chiller, titled What Is and What Should Never Be, is another winner, and it features what may be the best performance ever by series lead Jensen Ackles as Dean Winchester, one of the two demon-hunting brothers around whom the show revolves.
Yeah, but that's just till the finale!
Note to self: pick up lots of Kleenex!

Date: 2007-05-03 02:08 pm (UTC)Ha! Good point!
I just know you are plotting how to get pictures - and maybe video? I so would like to hear him say "I want the truth!"
Who me? Plotting to video tape something? [snicker] You know me too well, Deborah! LOL!
JoAnn, are you there? Tell your story to Barb, please.
Yes, please, Jo Ann! A zebra?? I must know!
Amen! It's going to be a long summer - it would be nice to see the boys twice a week! It would be nice if they didn't rerun the eps on Sunday
Yeah, I mean really, why repeat the same episode twice? It's already a rerun - show two different ones!
And yes, any night but Thursday, but I'm really not holding out much hope that it will be moved.
[sigh] Unfortunately me, too. Why can't they see how much better it did on Tuesday nights and how much it could flourish if put back there??
And I don't think you will need to strain your neck much - if Jared shows up, you will know it!
Ha! Yeah, he'd be pretty easy to spot, wouldn't he? :-)
I would still love to see a picture of you standing next to him - okay, standing between him and Jensen!
Oh god, be still my beating heart! I'd so look like a midget between those two. :-)
I don't know. There is only a first name for her character at imdb - Hope. I checked Kinkade's website (I suffered for you so you don't have to!)
Hee! Thanks for doing that. So her character is still a mystery. Hmmm...oh well, it'll still be nice to see her again. I liked her in Wendigo, too.
By the way, a guy by the name of Ed Martin has posted a review of What is and What Should Never Be
Can you believe I actually contained myself and haven't clicked on the link you gave me?? What's with me lately with not wanting to be any more spoiled??
and they make the episode sound even more heartwrenching than I was imagining (and believe me, I was imagining major 'wrench)
Oh geez, this one's gonna kill us, isn't it?
And though the guy is mysterious about what happened to dad in this alternate reality, from one thing he says I'm afraid I might have been right.
Hmmm....some kind of illness or accident then?
and it features what may be the best performance ever by series lead Jensen Ackles as Dean Winchester,
Oh. My. God. Lots of kleenex is right! I'm gonna be a mess by the end of this episode, I just know it!
