SPN season finale - to freak out or not to freak out - that is the question

I know I said my LJ was going to be a spoiler free zone specifically for the two-part season finale, and it's still going to be, but I have to ask a question.

I've seen just general comments about the spoilers that have been released. No one's given away anything that's in front of a cut, but people seem to be completely and totally freaking out and not really in a good way. And it's really making me nervous and making my willpower start to crumble.

I can't give in! I can't! So I'm asking you, those of you who have read the spoilers - is fandom in general going to hate the finale because of what spoilers have been released so far - or is everyone freaking out for nothing? What's your opinion? Can you put my mind at ease or should I be worried?

I don't know that fandom is going to hate the finale, per se--but we're going to HATE LIKE HELL the wait between the finale and S3x01. Heh. And all freaking out, I think, will be justified. (On fandom's part, that is.)

See, now that's cool! That's what a season finale should be like - leaves you wanting more immediately. Though I thought that Kripke was wrapping up the "special children" story line. Makes me wonder what the ending of the finale is going to be now!

I don't think the fandom will hate the finale, but I bet that waiting for Ep22 will kill us all.

Ah, so the spoiler everyone is freaking out about is actually from ep. 21 and not ep. 22. Interesting! Well, at least we'll only have to wait a week to see how it's resolved, and not months until next fall. Because yes, we all know SPN is coming back for season 3!

I've got faith in Kripke, too, so if you say that as well, it's putting my mind at ease. Thank you!

Given the dynamic of the show, I'd say you shouldn't worry. However, I broke down and looked at the spoiler (if it's the one I think you're talking about) and I'm totally freaked. I know they'll make it work, but da-amn.

Depending on what is freaking people out be part of episode 2.21 or 2.22, people will be freaking out for a week or a few months, but only to know how they'll solve that.
But I honestly don't think this is the "I hate this show" kind of thing, but more along the lines of OMG! thing.

Ok, phew! Thank you! I'm kinda confused now, as I thought this giant spoiler that everyone was freaking out about was from ep. 22, but now it sounds like it's really from ep. 21. I'm hoping that it's from ep. 21, so we only have a week to wait to see how it all turns out!

Believe it or not, I've decided to stay away from the spoilers too. (CHRISTO! Nope, still me.) And it was precisely because someone on another board read the spoiler and posted that she wished she hadn't, so I thought, "Hey, it's only 3 months, I can wait it out."

I am also remaining as spoiler-free as I can (and man, has it been tempting, omg!), but I do recall in a Sera Gamble (I think) interview from awhile back that she mentioned that she had written the first part of the season finale (ep. 21) and that Eric had written the second (ep. 22), and that the wait between the first and second parts would be horrible for us. So ... hearing that we're all going to go crazy over ... whatever-the-hell it is that everyone's talking about isn't really shocking. *whimpers*

Thank god that the final two episodes are the weeks right AFTER finals week for me, otherwise, I would probably die of stress from the combination of SPN and academia, lol.

Oh, I'm certainly not shocked, but it was the fact that people seemed to be kinda...angry or mad at whatever the spoiler is that had me concerned. Being all "OMG! Wow!" is great, but if people aren't happy about it, then it makes me really, really worried.

I've been avoiding spoilers for the finale too, but I saw one by mistake this weekend. I scrolled past quickly, but I saw it,and I didn't want to. But I'm hoping I misread it, so that maybe it's not what I think I saw.

I don't think fandom in general is going to hate finale, exactly, 'cause it sounds awesome. But I don't think they're freaking for no reason. I have answered the questions you asked. And I haven't spoiled you. So, staying on tenter hooks (just what kind of hooks are they, anyway?)...when is the season finale going to air?

I haven't read any, but the only things that are freaking ME out is is there going to be a third season! All these hiatuses and waiting are driving me nuts. I almost put that May 17th date on my calendar but I wimped out. Jeez, can't CW tell us NOW and put us out of our misery?

C'mon, think positive! There will be! I am SO confident of it this year. Unlike last year, I was really nervous. But there are too many signs that point to renewal this time - all of the tie-in merchandise for one, Kim Manners being very positive in recent interviews, and that contest for the commerical.

Waiting till May 17th will be hard (especially since that's the day of the season finale) but I know we'll be getting good news. :-)
