Ok, if this is the correct schedule of upcoming episodes from thefutoncritic.com I'm going to be royally ticked off.
So here's the schedule:
2/15/07 (#215) Tall Tales
2/22/07 - Repeat (Playthings)
3/1/07 - Repeat (Usual Suspects)
3/8/07 - Repeat (Crossroad Blues)
3/15/07 (#216) Roadkill
3/22/07 - Repeat (TBA)
3/29/07 - Repeat (TBA)
4/5/07 - Repeat (TBA)
4/12/07 (#217) Heart
4/19/07 (#218) Hollywood Babylon
4/26/07 (#219) Folsom Prison Blues
5/3/07 (#220)
5/10/07 (#221)
5/17/07 (#222)
~~~~~
So you're telling me that we already had a long winter hiatus, now followed by three weeks of repeats, ONE new episode and then THREE MORE weeks of repeats??
CW is seriously trying to kill this show, isn't it? What is the point in showing just one new episode, bracketed by SIX repeats? Last year SPN ended on May 4th. Now they're stretching it out to May 17th by showing nothing but a bunch of reruns. WHY? Just end it early in May again and show new ones straight through! ARGH!
I just...I really, really hate this schedule. :-(
Date: 2007-02-18 03:28 am (UTC)If they didn't do the breaks in the middle, the new season couldn't start until, like January
Man, I would love that! I would absolutely wait until January if it meant no repeats, all new episodes for 22 weeks straight.
Date: 2007-02-18 03:33 am (UTC)Hahaha, and then they'd tank in sweeps, lose their ad dollars and the show WOULD be killed. Sucks for fans, but it's just business!
I agree that the one new ep stuck in the middle is super-strange. I have no explanation for that...NONE!
Date: 2007-02-18 03:37 am (UTC)Hey, if "24" can do the January thing and be a success, so can we! :-)
I have no explanation for that...NONE!
Because CW's on crack, that's why.
Date: 2007-02-18 03:38 am (UTC)It is! They didn't pull a crazy schedule like this last year and I can't fathom why they're doing it this year. :-(
Date: 2007-02-19 03:16 am (UTC)I wish I knew the reasoning behind what repeat gets scheduled when.
Date: 2007-02-18 04:50 am (UTC)CW programming director = Sucky McSuckster.
I really, really don't understand this whole sweeps plan thing. It's like only those couple weeks a year make any difference to a show, and all the other day in, day out episodes all year mean nothing. And on a show that is as consistently excellent like SPN, that's insulting.
*is sad, grouchy and disillusioned*
Date: 2007-02-19 03:20 am (UTC)Sucky McSuckster indeed!
I know, sweeps is just totally ridiculous. I wish we could start in January like 24 does and run straight through till May.
Date: 2007-02-18 07:37 am (UTC)I wonder if the schedule has anything to do with trying to give J2 some downtime, or possibly pushing back the ep that JDM is supposed to be in, because someone (Kripke?) had said that they were having probalems getting him, because he's working a lot.
Jensen said in one of the interviews that they go on hiatus in March, so it's not improbable that all of the second-unit and effects may not be done for Heart and Hollywood Babylon.
Do the new sides showing up for FPBlues mean that they're still casting for that?
Date: 2007-02-19 03:25 am (UTC)You might be right about JDM, and if that's the case I won't be too upset. :-)
And yeah, if the script pages come up, they're still casting and haven't started filming that episode yet.
Date: 2007-02-19 06:38 am (UTC)This is the schedule that might happen, according to some posters at TWoP:
3/15 - new episode
3/22 - new episode (special guest stars on Smallville are being advertised on a pro wrestling site for this date, plus other sources confirm this)
2-3 weeks of repeats, then the final 5 episodes, ending either May 10th or May 17th
Supernatural may have ended May 4th last year, but that was kind of too early. The problem was that it switched time slots before its final six episodes, so it returned with Smallville, which had SEVEN episodes to finish, so while Smallville ended on a better date (May 11th) Supernatural had to end earlier. Ending in April would be way too early, anyway; that means it'd be a much longer wait until the third season starts :(
Hope that helps. And don't worry about The CW being unfair to the show-Smallville and Supernatural follow the EXACT same schedule, and Veronica Mars doesn't even come back until MAY after it finishes this stretch of eppies on the 27th. And not having too many episodes during March is a GOOD thing. March Madness means not only lots of people skipping their regular progrmaming for basketball, but lots of CW stations preempting CW shows for basketball. This would only hurt the ratings.
Date: 2007-02-19 01:45 pm (UTC)Oh, I didn't know that. I thought he was in the industry himself.
This is the schedule that might happen, according to some posters at TWoP:
So this is based on info that a guest star is going to be on SV the week of 3/22? Would make sense that SPN would be new that week, too, then. I guess I'm still confused, because the folks at SpoilerFix.com just this morning posted in spn_spoilers the same schedule that I saw. Think they're also getting their info from futoncritic?
Supernatural may have ended May 4th last year, but that was kind of too early
Yeah, I remember thinking that was really odd. Most shows go to mid-month or even a bit later.
Ha! Good point!
Hope that helps
Well I hope that you're right and that we'll at least get 2 new eps in March. I'd forgotten about basketball (not really a fan) so yeah, I'd rather us not compete against sports.
Thanks!
Date: 2007-02-20 03:58 am (UTC)Yes, that's the guest star for SV, it being a new episode on 3/22. SV and SPN have followed the same schedule up until now, so one would assume SPN would be new that day, too. I can't imagine the CW would let SPN go up into its hellish timeslot without a new lead-in, so I think it's a pretty safe bet.
Here's two sources that support a 3/22 airdate for Smallville (and, by association, Supernatural):
Pro Wrestling Insider (http://www.pwinsider.com/ViewArticle.asp?id=22945&p=1)
KryptonSite (http://www.kryptonsite.com/smallvillespoilers.htm) (KryptonSite is a long-standing, respected website in the Smallville community, with insider Smallville contacts - spoilers, schedules, etc., they get it all FIRST - they even frequently get direct interviews with the producers and cast)
SpoilerFix.com is reliable for spoilers, but not really schedules. They list everything after 3/15 as tentative dates for SPN, and they don't even have any dates at all for SV.
As always, airdates are subject to change. The only way you can know for sure is when the futon critic posts the episode description links on their listings page - those come directly from the network.
I truly wish that CW themselves would post schedules for their shows right on their website and end our guesswork!
