Ok, if this is the correct schedule of upcoming episodes from thefutoncritic.com I'm going to be royally ticked off.

So here's the schedule:

2/15/07 (#215) Tall Tales

2/22/07 - Repeat (Playthings)

3/1/07 - Repeat (Usual Suspects)

3/8/07 - Repeat (Crossroad Blues)

3/15/07 (#216) Roadkill

3/22/07 - Repeat (TBA)

3/29/07 - Repeat (TBA)

4/5/07 - Repeat (TBA)

4/12/07 (#217) Heart

4/19/07 (#218) Hollywood Babylon

4/26/07 (#219) Folsom Prison Blues

5/3/07 (#220)

5/10/07 (#221)

5/17/07 (#222)

~~~~~
So you're telling me that we already had a long winter hiatus, now followed by three weeks of repeats, ONE new episode and then THREE MORE weeks of repeats??
CW is seriously trying to kill this show, isn't it? What is the point in showing just one new episode, bracketed by SIX repeats? Last year SPN ended on May 4th. Now they're stretching it out to May 17th by showing nothing but a bunch of reruns. WHY? Just end it early in May again and show new ones straight through! ARGH!
I just...I really, really hate this schedule. :-(
Though it sucks, this actually is a pretty standard schedule, it doesn't have much to do with the CW specifically. "Lost" fans, for example, have been crying about it for three years. Now that both November and May have become standard sweeps times, the network HAS to stretch out the 22 eps in a season to cover both. If they didn't do the breaks in the middle, the new season couldn't start until, like January.
Okay, I don't mind repeats... I just don't get why they are playing them out of order? Playthings was a long ways after Usual Suspects even tho I really liked that episode. But... yeah. No, play them in order darn you.
So, it's true? This will be the schedule? (I did get your message on Friday. Sorry I didn't get back to you.)
CW programming director = Sucky McSuckster.
I really, really don't understand this whole sweeps plan thing. It's like only those couple weeks a year make any difference to a show, and all the other day in, day out episodes all year mean nothing. And on a show that is as consistently excellent like SPN, that's insulting.
*is sad, grouchy and disillusioned*
I cannot believe they're showing Playthings again so soon! The only reason I can think of why they have Roadkill in the middle there is so that there is at least one new ep every month.
I wonder if the schedule has anything to do with trying to give J2 some downtime, or possibly pushing back the ep that JDM is supposed to be in, because someone (Kripke?) had said that they were having probalems getting him, because he's working a lot.
Jensen said in one of the interviews that they go on hiatus in March, so it's not improbable that all of the second-unit and effects may not be done for Heart and Hollywood Babylon.
Do the new sides showing up for FPBlues mean that they're still casting for that?
You shouldn't pay so much attention to the futon critic's "projections" -- keep in mind the guy who runs that site is just a major tv fan who happens to have lots of media source material for press releases, ratings, and scheduling. He can only "officially" post schedules when a network gives them to him. The "projections" are just his best guesses, literally.
This is the schedule that might happen, according to some posters at TWoP:
3/15 - new episode
3/22 - new episode (special guest stars on Smallville are being advertised on a pro wrestling site for this date, plus other sources confirm this)
2-3 weeks of repeats, then the final 5 episodes, ending either May 10th or May 17th
Supernatural may have ended May 4th last year, but that was kind of too early. The problem was that it switched time slots before its final six episodes, so it returned with Smallville, which had SEVEN episodes to finish, so while Smallville ended on a better date (May 11th) Supernatural had to end earlier. Ending in April would be way too early, anyway; that means it'd be a much longer wait until the third season starts :(
Hope that helps. And don't worry about The CW being unfair to the show-Smallville and Supernatural follow the EXACT same schedule, and Veronica Mars doesn't even come back until MAY after it finishes this stretch of eppies on the 27th. And not having too many episodes during March is a GOOD thing. March Madness means not only lots of people skipping their regular progrmaming for basketball, but lots of CW stations preempting CW shows for basketball. This would only hurt the ratings.
