The Stargate convention is off to a great start! Check out the cool drinks the hotel restaurant came up with. I had the Jack's Specialty and Chris had the  Stargate Command last night. They were yummy!

Off to go get registered!

The main reason I went to the convention was to see Connor Trinneer. And he didn't disappoint! It was really nice because he had a table in the hallway where you could just go up and talk to him and get his autograph all weekend long. I was so nervous! And I've talked to him several times before! I ended up having two very nice conversations with him about Enterprise. He even remembered me from DragonCon when I walked up to the table. Squee! He loved the photo op book I had him autograph. And like every other actor, flipped through it to see all of my other photos. He completely flipped out when he saw the pic of me and David Prowse (aka Darth Vader) when I was only six years old. He's like, "Is that YOU??" LOL! When he handed the book back to me he said, "That's rad!" Ha! I even got up enough courage to go up to the mic during his panel and ask him a question. :-) His panel was really good. Much funnier than I was expecting it to be! He was really interacting with the crowd.

The second reason I wanted to go to the con was to see Michael Shanks. See, Creation was billing this as "The Final Journey", the last Stargate con they were going to do (they have now gone back on that - go figure). Since I'd been at the very first one they ever did in Chicago I wanted to go to the last one. Especially since I hadn't seen Michael since then, 15 years ago. By some miracle, when John and I were packing up to move, I found my photo op with Michael from back then. I thought it'd been lost! So I brought that with me to have autographed. Michael flipped out when he saw it! LOL! We had a nice conversation about it. :-) Did I mention he looked AMAZING?? I wasn't planning on getting a single photo op with him until I saw him in the autograph line. Then I nearly broke my neck buying a ticket. :-)

Michael's panel nearly defies words. He purposely gets asked the most stupid shit, I'm telling you. I had this insane woman sitting next to me (mid-50's, first time ever at a con) who was completely out of it and snorting something from these vials she had in her bag! She got up to the mic and was rambling on about being a "student of ascension" and wanting to know if Michael was, too. How much research he put into it. It went on forever. His whole panel was just bizarre. Funny as hell (especially with the hysterical faces he was making) but completely bizarre.

So the Stargate convention was a smashing success. :-) First one I'd been to in nearly 15 years. Not only did I get to see Michael Shanks, Joe Flanigan and Connor Trinneer, but I also got to see old friends, which is always one of the best parts about going to a convention. My friend asyouleft and I were roommates. It was great to spend several days with Megan. I don't think we ever stopped talking. Or laughing. :-) Then we met up with our other friend the_other_sandy. It'd been way too long since we'd seen each other! I had preferred seating but hung out with Megan and Sandy back in general admission for a couple of panels. The biggest surprise was finding out duffy_99 was there! It's been ages since Jo Ann and I have seen each other. We go waaay back to our days in Sentinel fandom. So much fun to reconnect and spend a bit of time together. :-)

Speaking of friends, photo ops are always better when you can share them. As evidenced by Megan and I with Michael Shanks:

I need to scan in my other photo ops tonight. Was too tired last night after I got home. But all three turned out really nice!
