I finally got my bike last night! Woot! It's been number one on my list since we moved into the new house with the lake right in front of us. There's a really nice paved path all the way around it. I kept watching folks whiz by on their bikes and I knew I had to get one.

And here she is! Isn't she a beauty? I actually had someone stop me last night and tell me how pretty the bike was. :-)

I got on it as soon as we got home and took it for a spin. Holy cow. I literally haven't ridden a bike in 20 years, since John and I got married. We had a tiny apartment and no place to store my bike, so I sold it. And ever since then there really hasn't been anywhere we've lived that I wanted to ride. So needless to say by the time I completed the circuit of the lake my legs were burning. I thought I was just going to collapse before I got it back in the garage! LOL!

But I'm looking forward to going for a ride every single day as soon as I get home from work. Our weather here the past many weeks has been amazingly beautiful for late July in Chicago. I think we've only had one day that hit 90. Otherwise it's been in the upper 70's, low 80's. Perfect bike riding weather!

Aww, thanks! :-) That color is really sharp, isn't it? Not something you normally see on a bike. That's why it caught my eye. I'm glad that it's comfortable to ride!

ROTFL! That's it, the bike is now christened Schlumpfine! I love it! And only special people who speak German will understand it. Even better! {{HUGS}}

Thanks! It's such a great bike. I'm so bad with the helmet thing. I think it's because when I was a kid helmets didn't even exist so I've never owned one. I really should rethink that, though.

It's a Huffy. The model is Santa Fe. Yep, the retro look is exactly what attracted me to it!

Know what you mean. When I first retired got me a bike very much like yours with coaster brakes. Love it. Haven't been able to ride since I had the Bone marrow transplant, but hoping to one day. It is fun.

It's so funny - I haven't had a bike with coaster brakes since I was a little kid. After that it was always brakes on the handlebars. I felt like a total moron the first time I tried to stop on the new bike, grabbing for brakes that weren't there! LOL!

I hope you're able to get back to riding soon. I know I'd forgotten how much I enjoy it.

I like the look of mountain bikes, too, but in this case I didn’t need something so...heavy duty. Not to mention they’re much more expensive!
