Decided to tune back into SPN last night for one episode because it was filmed here in Chicago. I loved seeing my city actually playing Chicago and places I'm familiar with. But other than that, I needn't have bothered. "Bloodlines" was an awful rip-off of Kindred: The Embraced, populated with nothing but typical young, pretty CW actors with one bland expression. I'm so not interested in a Romeo and Juliet soap opera version of gritty and dark Supernatural. Boooooring. But that's typical CW fare so I shouldn't be surprised. I was really hoping I was going to enjoy the spin off, but with the exception of David I couldn't connect with any of the characters. Speaking of David and the "shifters" did I miss something along the way, with them not having to shed their skins and just change instantaneously? Are we just rewriting SPN canon again when it suits the writers?

What did all of you think of Bloodlines? Interested enough to tune in if it gets picked up to series or are you changing the channel? It'll be interesting to see what the ratings are later today.

It was AWFUL in many ways. Plus truly truly ridiculous. It ignores lots of SPN canon. A mob family of Djinns who apparently have so discretely abducted people to get their blood or life essence that no hunter has noticed and gone after them? Werewolves who don't leave heartless bodies around (since no hunter has apparently noticed)? And they don't need the full moon to wolf out? Does this mean that Sam didn't have to kill Madison? Apparently these wolves can control their wolfing out as did the wolves in the silly episode with Garth (the title of which I have blocked out). And shapeshifters who can just shift at will, no need to cast off the old body, and just change hair color at will too? I could go on but there's no need to do so if you've watched the first five seasons of SPN. It's like someone at the CW thought that the Vampire Diaries and Teen Wolf are popular, and SPN is hanging in, why not one up them all by putting multiple monster types in one series. And the acting was pathetic. Only one actor even had a figment of charisma (David). I could go on but I bet most of the SPN fans already have their own lists of why it was awful.

OMG, yes, the Djinn and werewolves! Good points! It reminds me of Grimm, too. As much as I love that show, it’s pretty ridiculous that SO many monsters would be living in one single city. Same goes for Bloodlines. Love the Vampire Diaries/Teen Wolf mash up comparison. That’s it exactly. And I’m apparently way too old for shows like that.

It was just so....blah. Nothing to spark my interest. I haven’t seen even one positive review of it, anywhere on LJ or any of the entertainment sites. But what do you want to bet that CW picks it up to series anyway?
