agt_spookySo wow, "Beholder" turned out to be a really good ep with a surprising, and heartbreaking twist.
Some of the highlights:
• Dorian answering Kennex's phone and the resulting conversation - "She holo-blocked you. Perhaps you're boring." Ha!
• Stahl actually had something to do in this episode! Another, bigger glimpse into the world of the Chromes. But there's still a lot of backstory we're missing. Why does she so resent being a Chrome? Becoming a cop was obviously a rebellion of sorts.
• Rudy as a child model? LOL!
• Favorite lines, all courtesy of Dorian:
"Let's replace your robotic leg with a tree stump. Or a shovel."
"You chew with your mouth open, you lie about putting gel in your hair and you snore."
That last one killed me - what's he doing talking to Kennex's smart bed, eh?? Oh the can of worms that just opened up! LOL!
• I actually felt really sorry for the bad guy (who I will always remember from SPN's episode Monster Movie). I never saw that twist coming with the girl. Brilliant.
• That was such an odd end scene with Kennex, like it was just kind of tacked on at the last minute. I was hoping that Dorian would walk up and they'd go get that drink together.
So next week is the season (series?) finale already. Previews look really good. I don't want it to end, though! Still a bad sign that there's been no word on renewal. :-(

I really liked Stahl's interaction with the hostess at the club, but I agree, more back story would have been better, not all this mysterious crap.
Oh, and I was trying to figure out where I'd seen the bad guy! Thank you!

I joined an AH comm here on LJ and man, the hate people have for Stahl over there is staggering. I just don’t feel she deserves it. She hasn’t been given anything to DO so how can you hate on her so much? I actually like the character, especially now that we know her backstory somewhat.

The last scene was really weird and I don't think Minka and Karl have a lot of chemistry tbh.
I like that we got more back story for the Chromes, but what about the wall??? I know that apparently short seasons are the new thing, but this show really could have done with at least 3 more episodes. Now it'll be even worse when it won't get renewed. How about that, Fox: I'd sacrifice Hawaii Five-0 and Supernatural for at least one more season of Almost Human. That sounds like a deal, doesn't it? Ignoring the fact that none of them air on Fox...

That was absolutely brilliant writing. That was probably one of my favorite moments of the entire series.

The problem is, the scenes they do have together are always so short. They’re rarely out in the field together. So it’s hard to build up any chemistry, you know?

I agree! They suddenly introduced like, four major plot points and now we’re going to be left hanging. Maybe permenantly, unfortunately!

as you. I truly wish it would be renewed, but haven't heard a thing. I decided to go to a con when I found out Karl Urban was going to be there. Maybe he will mention something. Of course he does a lot of movies so he might have plans already. Haven't been to a con in a long time so kind of looking forward to it. Trying to build up my stamina and endurance so I can do some walking around. And of course, going to try to find some good eats. Maybe even have a glass of champagne or two.
Sounds as if you will be going to a lot of upcoming cons. Keep posting and sending pics. We live vicariously through your travels.

I keep hoping that Karl will sign on for either DragonCon or Wizard World here in Chicago.
Yep, I’m definitely looking forward to all of my con adventures getting started over Memorial Day weekend. It will be a great summer and early fall for me!

But I just found out SyFy canceled Being Human! WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!!!!!!!!!! So I'm already bummed. :(
The last two episodes were really good, though. I assume they aired in the order in which they were supposed to? They both felt like later episodes - and, finally, a little bit of insight into Stahl. Not a lot, mind you, but more than we've been getting.
Poor John! Finally got up the nerve to ask her out, and she's already hooking up with the guy from the Chrome bar. He definitely needs Dorian to watch him drink now. ;)
And I think Dorian has gotten a LOT of secrets out of John's smart bed. LOL!
Still, I'm preparing for the WCS that next week is the last episode.

And again, since these are so out of order the ep where they’re sitting together drinking and watching soccer was supposed to be closer to this one, so John’s reaction makes even more sense when you realize that. Yes, John should have called Dorian and gone drinking with him instead. *g*

OMG, I nearly hurt something I laughed so hard when Dorian said he had to erase some stuff from his memory! Good lord I want to know why Dorian was talking to his bed in the first place!
