Germany - Day 5

Hey all! Still having an amazing time out here in Germany, and today, Switzerland!
We went to Basel first, for their summer festival parade and even though it was absolutely packed on the streets we got a place on the bridge over the Rhine. It was a pretty good view sitting on the top of the wall. The entire parade was just bands, most of them military. There were even a few from the U.S.! It was really fantastic with all that music. We only had time to watch the parade then we had to leave to get to Freiburg. But
lausbub0402 is taking me back to Basel on Monday for some Swiss shopping. :-)
We hopped on the Autobahn next - going 125 mph!. Woot!
Freiburg, Germany was next and it was fantastic! The architecture there is what you think of when you think of a town in Germany. I loved it! The Minster cathedral was huge and absolutely gorgeous. We couldn't go inside because there was an actual service going on. But the outside was really pretty. We walked and walked and walked around the town. It's so quaint! There was even a store named Barbara! And it was a lingerie store. Heh. :-) While we were there I got my authentic German soccer jersey and some postcards. There's these canals running alongside the streets with water and all these kids had wooden boats with strings. It was really cute. We stopped at an outdoor cafe and had ice cream while we listened to the church bells.
Claudia's husband had a pedometer on and by the time we got home we had walked over 15,000 steps!
I'm posting just a few photos since it's late and I'm exhausted but needless to say I've got a lot more!
Tomorrow we're off to the Alps! Expect another post with hopefully some pretty spectacular photos.

Here's my store!

And the best for last - me and

Date: 2012-07-21 09:10 pm (UTC)I've actually been to Freiburg once, but we didn't see that much, because we mainly went there to go to Europa Park. These canals are weird. I don't think they exist anywhere else in Germany or at least not in a bigger city.
