Well, so much for my high hopes of next season of Supernatural actually being good with Jeremy Carver in charge...

'Supernatural' star Jared Padalecki teases some Sam and Dean separation and finale goodbyes

jared-padalecki-supernatural-cw-upfronts.jpgOn Thursday, The CW brought its stars to New York for the announcement of its Fall 2012 schedule, and "Supernatural" fans were surprised that after years of reliable performance on Friday nights, the show is moving to Wednesdays.

"Hey guys, we're on Wednesdays," star Jared Padalecki laughed on the red carpet. "Y'all can all go out drinking again." The move was made to pair "Supernatural" with freshman drama "Arrow," which will hopefully help boost numbers for both action-driven series.

Padalecki welcomed his son Thomas just two months ago, and he admits to being on "baby time" right now. Given that "Supernatural" has just two leads, days off during shooting are pretty rare. Padalecki explains that after the events of tomorrow night's Season 7 finale, there will be some opportunity for Sam and Dean to spend a little time apart -- which could mean a few more days off for him and co-star Jensen Ackles.

"You'll see why tomorrow, but we're going to have a wonderful opportunity to see the brothers apart, and I hope, I hope, I hope we take advantage of it," Padalecki says.

Though Sam and Dean may be "at odds" a bit, don't worry -- off screen, there's no trouble in bromance-land. "I love working with Jensen, he's a dear friend and we get along great, but I love the episodes like 'I Know What You Did Last Summer' where I met my wife, where you really delve into Sam or conversely, delve into Dean," he tells us. "There was another one where Sam and Dean broke apart, and he's working in a diner and stuff like that, and again, you get to see Sam on his own and Dean on his own. I think that's awesome because you get to strengthen the characters, so when they do come back together they have something to share. I hope we do it."

We're not sure how fans will feel about Sam and Dean splitting up, but we may have more important things to worry about after the finale. "We do have to say goodbye to more than one beloved character, and we see one brother specifically in a really sticky situation," Padalecki teases.

~~~~~
So they're not sure how the fans will feel about Sam and Dean splitting up? SERIOUSLY? Gosh, yes, we're THRILLED! Nothing I like better than watching Sam and Dean fighting. Can't WAIT for that to happen again. Because you know, that's why I started watching SPN, because I hated the brother's relationship and love to see them split up. Un-fucking-believable. I'm so sick of this shit. I expected way more from Jeremy. I'm so fucking pissed that this is how we're going to start off season eight, and who knows how long it will drag out.
I'm gonna go and watch my season one DVDs now.
i know I know...but to be honest...Jensen in an interview says that he doesn't really know what is coming up for the season...Sera in an interview says that the brothers are together...maybe Jared is just madly speculating ...(lets hope) cause Jared may like soulesss sam and those episodes where the boys are fighting but I DON'T
I do feel a bit better after watching Jensen’s video interview, which was after I read Jared’s here, that it does seem to be more wishful thinking on Jared’s part. It just irritates me that Jared always seems to want the brothers split up.
So let’s keep our fingers crossed that Jeremy isn’t going to take us down that road.
I'm hoping that if they do end up split up tomorrow night, it's because they are physically apart--like they somehow end up far away from each other, not that they get pissed off and leave each other. So over them fighting! Dean needs a hug, not Sam leaving again, dammit!
I don't think it's worth getting too worked up about. Jared is speculating. I think he may also be thinking wishfully, just in terms of having more days to spend with his new family. Sure, he'd like to have a whole day or two off during the week so he can spend more time with his baby, but I don't think he knows. I'm sure the writing staff are hashing things out with Jeremy Carver but I'm willing to bet no scripts have been written yet. He was using a lot of "I hope" and "I think".
So yes, I’m hoping that he is just speculating (especially after seeing Jensen’s video interview after I read Jared’s here and he says he has no idea what’s going to happen). Call me a sap, but I just want them working together, two brothers against the world.
But, if you listen to what he says, he's looking at it from an actor/story telling POV. He said he had a blast playing Souless Sam and I'm sure he did. He might have felt a bit in a rut and it was his big chance to do something different.
I don't get the impression he's getting bored enough to not want to do SPN anymore. I think he's just thinking aloud of ways that would give more acting challenges and story dynamics.
Jared is far to kind a soul to say such things just to piss people off. He was just speculating.
Oh, I totally understand that. It’s always good to stretch your wings as an actor. Too bad I couldn’t stand Souless Sam and bailed after 2 episodes of it. Not that Jared wasn't good, I just hated what they did to Sam.
I don't get the impression he's getting bored enough to not want to do SPN anymore. I think he's just thinking aloud of ways that would give more acting challenges and story dynamics.
I just wish that didn’t always involve splitting Sam and Dean up. Jared might like the challenge, but this fan, at least, isn’t really thrilled with it.
And if the separation he was talking about refers to how season seven ended, I’m only okay with it because the Purgatory twist was brilliant. But I still hope it doesn’t last more than 2-3 episodes.
I never trust what Jared says, he always seems to be in his own little world when it comes to spoilers. *shrug* but I've gotten use to the boys being at odds, and while I would love a good old fashion brother season, I wouldn't say no to more Dean and Dean/Cas (providing we get normal Cas back and not the finger pulling flake from the last time we saw him) oh and no Lisa-ish characters either, season 8 is not the time to turn this into a romance drama in any way. Really I've been expecting less Sam ever since we found out about the baby.
but I love the episodes like 'I Know What You Did Last Summer' where I met my wife
Does he not remember the other 4 episodes with her that came before this one?
See, that’s my worry, too. I’m all for Dean and Cas pairing up if the brothers are going to be split up, but this “new Cas” isn’t to my liking at all. :-(
Good lord NO. I think we’ve gone down that route with both of them enough, thank you.
That’s the one they had sex in, so apparently that’s the only one worth remembering!
I figured the split would be because one of them is going to get pulled into purgatory with the Leviathans. I bet Dean.
[nods head] I’d be okay with that. Or at least something that separates them physically, not emotionally. I’ve just had it up to HERE with them fighting. The first time it happened it really had some impact, but now it’s just ridiculous and stupid and lazy writing.
Who knows, maybe they'll be split up because one of them gets turned into a woman and loses her memory, and starts stripping so the other "brother" can't stand to go near because of all the boobies in face.
LOL!!! Thank you for the much needed laugh!
He didn't say anything about them fighting. "At odds" may mean nothing more than they don't agree on the best way to deal with the situation. It may be more they have to split up for their own safety kind of thing, which Dean would hate and Sam would be okay with.
And let's face it, there's only so much they can do with the boys together, facing the same stuff. Apart, it gives them more to work with. But it's not a definite thing, so there's no sense getting bent out of shape over something that hasn't happened yet, and may not happen at all.
Yeah, I know... It just confirms my feelings about the renewal : sometimes it's best to stop a show before doing too many seasons because then the writers tend to reinvent the show and we loose all the elements that made us love the show in the first place. To be honest, if the show had been stopped after season 7 I would have been perfectly with it. Even after season 6 actually.
I love Jared but I DEFINITELY don't share his opinion about splitting the brothers.
With the way Sera has butchered the last two seasons I would’ve been happy if it had ended after season five. But then we wouldn’t get Jeremy in charge, so perhaps our suffering will have been worth it!
Same here. Thankfully it turned out to be a physical separation in the season finale and not an emotional one, so I’m okay with it because of the great twist. But still, I don’t want to see it last more than 2-3 episodes.
I have to admit I haven't watched SPN since season 5 ended (at least not the new ones, the first three seasons I saw about a hundred times).
After season 5 I didn't start watching immediately, with some of my friends we were afraid to start probably because it was supposed to end with season 5 and it kind of felt closed, than they started to watch season 6 after a few months, I didn't. I still can't bring myself to do it. I know enough from spoilers online (which I can't avoid if I want to be on the internet at all) and friends, that I don't really feel the urge to watch it.
I loved this series at the beginning, two brothers driving around hunting things. But somehow for me it started going downhill somewhere in season 4. And after that it just wasn't the same anymore. If felt like the core of the show, this two brothers who would have done anything even die for each other in a heartbeat, became just a small unsignificant part of some mithology that just kept twisting with big baddies who were killed after a long story just so in the next moment a bigger one can show up because apparently there always have to be something worse. It's like those matryoshka dolls. I'm not saying the sho shouldn't evolve even change a little, but not so much that it becomes something that barely resembles how it started.
And every time I read spoilers, or I'm linked a little few minutes part and I see the brothers, it feels like they are distant with each other like two man who barely know or like each other. And instead of fixing it, they seem to break it even more.
And now another spoiler about breaking them apart.
I have to say, I'm not exactly motivated to sit down over the summer and watch what I've been missing.
Tell me if I missed something and I see things the wrong way after spoilers, and I might just sit and watch it after I'm done with exams, otherwise I think I'll just stick to watching the first few seasons... the show I actually loved.
(I'm sorry for the long post, but I'm already tense because of my exams and this interview just made me say this.)
I watched the season premiere of season six, and then the second episode. Got SO disgusted with Souless Sam that I stopped watching until episode 11, when he got his soul back. The rest of the season was...okay. So if you are interested in watching, skip right to episode 11.
I loved this series at the beginning, two brothers driving around hunting things. But somehow for me it started going downhill somewhere in season 4. And after that it just wasn't the same anymore.
Wow, I couldn’t agree more! After they introduced Ruby and Bela is when I started losing interest. Especially Ruby. She ruined two entire seasons for me. So by the time season five came along I just wasn’t as invested in it as I used to be.
If felt like the core of the show, this two brothers who would have done anything even die for each other in a heartbeat, became just a small unsignificant part of some mithology that just kept twisting with big baddies who were killed after a long story just so in the next moment a bigger one can show up
That’s my issue, too! It’s like the mythology just completely took over. As much as I love Cas, when the whole angels/demons/apocalypse thing got going I felt that Eric bit off more than he could chew. It was too big a scope for the show, and it showed. And it’s continued on when Sera took over, having to have a bigger and bigger bad guy until it got ridiculous with the Leviathans.
And every time I read spoilers, or I'm linked a little few minutes part and I see the brothers, it feels like they are distant with each other like two man who barely know or like each other. And instead of fixing it, they seem to break it even more.
I have to say that at least in the majority of season seven they did start to come back together and I didn’t feel that emotional distance between them.
And now another spoiler about breaking them apart.
At least this one turned out to be not so bad. The boys are separated in the season finale, but it’s a physical one, not an emotional one. And truly, the twist that separates them is brilliant. So I’m okay with it, as long as it doesn’t last more than 2-3 episodes next season.
Tell me if I missed something and I see things the wrong way after spoilers, and I might just sit and watch it after I'm done with exams, otherwise I think I'll just stick to watching the first few seasons... the show I actually loved.
I’d say give season seven a shot. I don’t care for the Levithans, but the other MOTW stories are fairly decent. Not up to par from seasons 1-2, but not horrible. And don’t miss Frontierland from season six.
Now having seen the finale ---don't read this if you haven't seen the finale SPOILER ALERT
So now we know what Jared was talking about. The boys are not 'at odds' (I don't think Jared even actually said that from the video of the interview I saw) they are physically separated with Dean in Purgatory and Sam on earth on his own to handle the remaining Leviathan. So obviously a big part of the beginning of S8 will be the boys working to get back together.
I hope Sam handles it better than the last time he lost his brother.
I’m so glad that it’s a physical separation and not an emotional one. I’m good with this because I think the Purgatory twist is brilliant. Dean’s time in Hell was too glossed over to me, compared with Sam being in the cage, so I’m excited that Dean is going to have this storyline. But I also hope it doesn’t last more than 2-3 episodes because I’d rather have the boys together.
To be honest, I had lost interest in the show, the season finale spoilers kinda got me upbeat regarding season 8.
But if the season's going as Jared says, I've lost interest again. Solo Dean scenes are okay, especially with Castiel with him, but I've always been bored during solo Sam scenes.
It just doesn't appeal to me. The USP of the show is the brothers.
Well, with the way season seven ended, the boys are definitely separated. But thank god it’s not because they’re fighting! And hey, at least Dean and Cas are together. But I’m with you on the solo Sam scenes. And now with Dean, Cas and Bobby gone, Sam will really be by himself. Hope it doesn’t last for more than 2-3 episodes.
