I didn't think it was possible for VW to outdo themselves after last years priceless "mini Darth Vader" ad during the Super Bowl, but I was wrong. Check THIS out:

Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] storm_grant for originally posting the link this afternoon, I burst out laughing right in the middle of the office. :-)

I figured everyone might need a laugh after the crap that went down with Megaupload today. I lost every SPN convention video I filmed since 2007, as I had them stored on there. [sigh] I hope I can find all of the original discs somewhere in my office. :-(

I’m still in shock that this happened to MU. Especially since they’re pretty dilegent about removing illegal files. I don’t think it was fair to not let account holders save their original content that was stored on their servers. They also screwed over everyone who had a paid account. They’ll never get their money back. I’m really afraid that this is the start of something really, really bad for the internet. :-(

AHAHA, THE GREYHOUND AT-AT WALKER. That made my day.

With regard to your videos, I know I downloaded a bunch of the recent con vids off you (though I doubt that I was organised enough to attach your name to the files). If you need help rebuilding your collection, I should be able to put them up somewhere for you.

Aww, thank you! I’m going to try and take some time this weekend to scour the zillion DVDs in my office to see what I can find. If I’m missing some I will definitely drop you a note. :-)

LOL at the Star Wars dogs! The big black and white one kind of looks like Maggie!

That sucks about MegaUpload. They should have a way for legitimate users to retrieve their information. I have to admit, I used it to download episodes, but it wasn't like I don't buy the DVDs anyway, once they're available. It's just an interim thing.

Digital information is changing and mutating all the time. I think that companies and the government(s) are going to have to figure out a better way to deal with it.

See, that’s my issue. No warning was given. And my stuff is all original content, not pirated movies, TV eps, etc.

I have to admit, I used it to download episodes, but it wasn't like I don't buy the DVDs anyway, once they're available. It's just an interim thing.

Same here. I used MU all the time in just that way. If you’ve got a second, candygramme made a great post about this earlier today.

You are exactly right. And if something’s not done soon they’ll be throwing all of us back into the Stone Age. There’s something wrong if the government controls the only information you’re allowed to see.

It's bad for libraries too...several publishers are refusing to sell digital material (audio books and e-books) to libraries, or imposing some kind of ridiculous limit on circulations, with the thought behind it being that because e-books won't wear out, there won't be any profit for them from repurchases due to wear. However, library books can last anywhere from one circulation to 50 years worth of borrowing; the self-imposed limit by publishers is 26 circulations. (which is about a year and a half, in my library.)

Greed seems to be taking over, on their part. I know that there needs to be some kind of structure that makes people WANT to write, or produce music, or make movies, and profit is a part of that. However, some common sense needs to come into play. And the government needs to start thinking about the end results, rather than how they can control the profit margin.

I had no idea. It seems like every time I go to the library and request a book they give me the runaround and most of the time tell me they can't get it. It's very frustrating. And I'll admit to getting copies of the books anyway I can when I find them. I figure if the library can't supply them they are just forcing my hand. These day's I'd rather read fan fiction. It's written with passion than the churned out regurgitated mainstream books.

Penguin just pulled all e-books and audio books from library distribution. HarperCollins imposes the 26 circs (no matter if a library circulates an item for one week or four weeks) and then the digital item vanishes from the system. A couple other big publishers just don't offer e-books to libraries, or they only offer part of their catalog. Warner Brothers is now withholding selling new DVDs to libraries (and places like Netflix) until six weeks after they go on sale in retail locations. When they do come, library copies now don't have any special features like commentaries or gag reels--just the movie. All to "encourage" consumers to buy, buy, buy!

Some of this is because of Amazon and the Kindle Fire. They want people to use their Amazon Prime account (which is, what? $75/year?) to borrow ebooks and audio books... so they have to take libraries out of the equation. Those pesky free institutions are cutting into their profits!

I'm not sure how it's going to work out, but I wish people would start thinking about the people who can't afford e-readers or to buy e-books...especially since they're now the same price as books themselves. Greed and profit. It seems to be what's driving everything now.

You’ve got to be kidding me! That’s just ridiculous. Heaven forbid people should be able to enjoy the full version while at the same time supporting their local library.

so they have to take libraries out of the equation. Those pesky free institutions are cutting into their profits!

I can’t tell you how mad that makes me. I may not use libraries like I used to when I was younger and in school, but that doesn’t mean I think libraries shouldn’t exist anymore so that the entertainment industry can profit.

Thank you! I’ve been dumbfounded by how expensive ebooks are getting, only a couple of dollars, if that, lower than an actual book. Sorry, I’ll take the actual book!

First row, left to right:
Leia, Han, Luke and Ewok

Second row:
?, ?, Chewbacca and Darth Vadar

Third row:
C3PO, ?, ?,

I imagine one of the question marks is supposed to be ObiWan, and one is R2D2, but...which? And who are the other two?

I NEED to know!

LOL! I thought the lightsaber on the Luke dog was a blaster. Now I see that Maggie's twin is Han, with his almost invisible blaster. (He sits very modestly.)

The poor dog getting tagged with Jabba. He's not THAT big!

The props made it easy to tell those dogs, so it seems like there should have been some for every dog.

I hear this is just a preview...I can't wait to see the whole thing!

"I figured everyone might need a laugh after the crap that went down with Megaupload today"

I know! when I read about megaupload taken down I was: what?? but I just used it in the morning! , because as I couldn't watch Misha in TV "the soup" because I'm not from US, I was waiting for someone to upload the video and someone upload it in youtube, but when I tried to watch it, it said, oh! it said this:
This video contains content from Comcast Entertainment Group, who has blocked it in your country on copyright grounds.

so I was :( but then someone upload it in megaupload and I watched it :), but hours later megaupload was taken down, and now I'm thinking in the executives that were arrested by the FBI :( poor guys, and their families.

omg this is terrible! Yesterday LiveJournal wasn't accessible and I really missed you guys, do you imagine if they begin to take down the sites ??? :(

And you know I thought about your videos too!, a lot of time I don't download them because you can watch them directly, so ....
hey! but I have the videos you took when Jared Jensen and Misha did the panel together, the one that at the end Jensen decided to join them, if you can't find your videos I can send them back to you or something isn't?
well there most be another away aside from megaupload isn't?

Have you watch this video?

someone kind of asked Jensen about the PCA's incident

Same here! I had just uploaded the songs from Quantum Leap for everyone yesterday morning! I hadn’t used MU to upload anything in several months. What are the chances I’d use it and it would be taken down a few hours later??

because as I couldn't watch Misha in TV "the soup" because I'm not from US, I was waiting for someone to upload the video

As was I, because I didn’t even know he was on it. I saw a link to MU but since I was at work I had to wait to download it until I got home. By that time MU was down and I didn’t think I’d be able to see it, but luckily I found it on YouTube.

but hours later megaupload was taken down, and now I'm thinking in the executives that were arrested by the FBI :( poor guys, and their families.

I’m still wondering how the FBI was able to do that since MU is not based in the U.S.

I have complete d'loads (mp4) of your Chicago cons from 2007-2010 and Van Con 09 & 11.

Even though I live in Australia, I'm more than willing to burn them onto disc and snail mail them to you if I have to so you rebuild your collection. It's the least I can do for the many, many hours of pleasure watching Jared, Jensen and the various other cast that you have provided fans all over the world.

And that vid is great. The black lab on the far right is a spitting image of my dog, Sam.
