Hi everyone! [waves] Just a quick little post from me today. Not much going on, really.

Had a nice weekend, if a bit busy on Saturday. I've been looking for new gym shoes and since I'm about the only girl who wears high tops, it's always an ordeal. So I wandered around every shoe store in the mall until coming across the winning pair at Finish Line:

Pretty cool lookin', eh? :-)

Ran another zillion errands before meeting up with my best buddy [livejournal.com profile] charityflint for dinner and a movie. We went to see The Adventures of TinTin and we both really liked it. It was kinda creepy almost, how realistic the animation looked! And I tried in vain to listen for Sebastian Roche's voice but couldn't pick him out. Bummer!

I decided to be a lazy slug on Sunday and tackle that pile of books I got from Amazon. I read the Hardy Boys one and one of the Battlestar Galactica ones. Man, I miss Starbuck and Apollo!

Speaking of books, I got a belated birthday package yesterday from my dear friend Adam that had two more from my Amazon wish list. The pile on my dresser just keeps growing and I love it! He also sent 2 DVDs and 2 Star Wars toys. Is he awesome or what? :-)

My local park district is starting up a new season of yoga classes and you can try the first class for free. On Sunday night I went to the Yog Nidra one, which is Sleep Yoga. I had high hopes for that one, since it was supposed to teach you how to basically unwind your nervous system to get a better night's sleep. But unfortunately even though the teacher swore she'd been doing this for years she had no idea what she was doing, and at one point had to bring out a book to read from. [sigh] So much for that.

But last night I went to the Hot Yoga class. I'd never tried this kind before because I didn't think I could handle 95-100 degrees. But this class was going to be between 80-90 so I gave it a shot. And I really liked it! I loved the instructor and I learned a lot of different poses compared the regular yoga I've been doing for the past year. So I'll be signing up for that one this week.

So that's what I've been up to these last couple of days. What exciting things have YOU guys been up to?

Just about any stretching moves you learn in a yoga class can help you.

Way back when, I belonged to my wonderful gym (*sigh* that I miss desperately). While the yoga classes weren't free, one of the yoga instructors taught a stretching class that was. And, man, let me tell ya. After a stressful day at work, I would walk out of that class a happy pile of cooked spaghetti. All my muscles were warm and stretched. All my stress was gone. I would walk around for the rest of the day with a peaceful, dopey grin on my face.

I couldn’t agree more! There’s nothing better than releasing all that tension from your body. A couple of the departments at work take a break in the middle of the day and do stretching exercises together.
