I swear, the more I read about Cas in season seven the more worried and depressed I get. [sigh]

LazyDaizy26: Misha Collins news, pretty please?
We talked with him just a couple days ago, and he had some very
interesting things to say about the way we see his character off. You
wanna know what he said? Sorry, got to wait a bit longer. Like, two more
days. Then all will be revealed with our awesome video interview. Until
then, enjoy the little spoiler nugget below.
Greg: Is there going to be a big bad on Supernatural this season? What is up with Castiel?
There are going to be multiple big bads. Big old big bads. Aka
leviathans. And Castiel is the one who accidentally releases them into
the world. Translation: This is not good for Sam and Dean.

Date: 2011-09-14 02:12 am (UTC)I just can't understand why tptb feel it necessary to destroy a character that got their show talked about (press like that is good, people) and, as you say, brought fresh air and life to the series.
While I can understand not wanting to have to have Cas as a character in every episode, even if he were to become human (my fondest wish) that hardly means that he'd have to be glued to the boys' sides. I'd *pay* to see Cas become human, a hunter, and strike out on his own. In fanfic I'd pay to see other things, mind you, but for primetime tv, I'll stick with that. *g*
I'm just so disappointed with the writer's and producer's inability to think beyond: Show called Supernatural, must kill things that I'm not even sure I *want* to watch it anymore.
Could someone please start a virtual season 7 wherein Cas is a character and not something that has to be gotten rid of?

Date: 2011-09-15 01:23 am (UTC)It’s because Sera is a piss-poor showrunner. It’s like she can only focus on Sam and Dean (well, mainly just Sam) so she’s getting rid of other characters because she can’t figure out what to do with them.

I couldn’t agree more! I would LOVE for Cas to have his grace ripped out in punishment for what he’s doing and then become human, and a hunter. Can’t you just see him spending time at Bobby’s, being trained? :-) And like you said, it doesn’t mean he’d be riding around in the back of the Impala (but I wouldn’t mind!), but show up maybe six, seven times to help the boys out.

While I loved the format of S1 and S2, before SPN got too big for its britches and took on the apocalypse, they can still make killing monsters interesting, if they try hard enough. But Sera doesn’t strike me as the kind of person to put in that kind of effort.

Yes, please! Where do we go to drum up interest in something like this?

Date: 2011-09-15 06:52 am (UTC)Well, there's Groped by an Angel, the Dean/Cas lj community: http://deancastiel.livejournal.com/ (I must say that I admire their name *g*) and the spn_Castiel lj: http://spn-castiel.livejournal.com/ There are also some Misha related lj's but I don't have the url's readily to hand. Now that I think on it, there are assorted Big Bang lj's related to SPN that, if the mods were amiable, could be a good announcement/cheerleader site, if you were serious.

Date: 2011-09-14 02:35 am (UTC)Eh, no one on SPN is dead-dead until the show is cancelled and and buried itself :)

Date: 2011-09-15 01:22 am (UTC)See, now I would love for Cas to turn back into Jimmy, to be human again. I’ve been hoping for that for awhile now. I think Jimmy would make a great hunter, actually, so that Misha could pop up every so often and help the boys out.
Eh, no one on SPN is dead-dead until the show is cancelled and and buried itself :)
Ha! You’ve got that right!

Date: 2011-09-14 04:00 am (UTC)My way of thinking is that they're going to do what they're going to do and I'll read what fandom has to say after the episode airs, then decide if and when I'll watch it.

Date: 2011-09-14 12:47 pm (UTC)I really hope Misha moves onto something else with more cache and exposure - he deserves it. And maybe one day he and Jensen can work together again. Fantasy project! ;D

Date: 2011-09-16 01:00 am (UTC)And poor Misha. I heard from a friend who watched the eps on the S6 DVD set with the commentary - while Ben Edlund and Bob Singer were praising Misha up and down, Sera remained completely silent. As if we didn’t already know how she felt about Misha/Castiel, eh?
And maybe one day he and Jensen can work together again. Fantasy project!
Squee! That would be the BEST!

Date: 2011-09-16 01:46 pm (UTC)She's always done the same thing on past dvds whenever she's in the commentary room and a producer tried to compliment Jensen. She'd either say nothing or pipe in that it was the writing, not the acting. Bitch.
If you've seen A Director's Journey, you will note that two of the three EPs are included in the short. Guess who did not participate? I found that omission glaring. The woman couldn't make her feelings better known if she took out a billboard.
What makes me really mad, though, is that everyone knows how petty and small-minded Sera is. But neither Singer nor Sgricca are trying to stop her or step in for Jensen's sake - and that's the part that really rankles. I know Kripke doesn't give a damn anymore, he's off working on a movie and another pilot. But those two are still working on the show. Why aren't they sticking up for Jensen more since we know they like him a lot?
*sigh*

Date: 2011-09-20 02:02 am (UTC)She makes it SO obvious that her focus is Jared/Sam, and always has. So why the hell did Eric put her in charge when she’s so completely biased toward one brother? Not that Sam wasn’t Kripke’s favorite, too, but he did do a pretty good job of balancing the plotlines. Unlike Sera.

Oh yes, I’ve seen the Director’s Journey featurette and noticed Sera’s absence, too. Way to support one of your actors on a new facet of his career, Sera! [shakes head] Unbelievable.

I know! Why?? Especially Bob Singer. He clearly likes Jensen. Has all along. So why stand by and let Sera treat him, and Dean, like crap? I just don’t understand it. Or have they tried to say something and were overruled by Kripke, since he’s clearly enamored with Sera. I’ll never know why he picked her for showrunner instead of Bob Singer.
Pfff
Date: 2011-09-19 02:27 am (UTC)Well, what else we can expect from someone who has been screwing the show that once was great?
