Spooky meets Starbuck

Meeting Dirk Benedict for the first time in my life at Cyphan 2 was everything I'd hoped it would be. :-)
Man, I was SO nervous about walking up to Dirk! Here's an actor I've admired for a damn long time and who I had a huge crush on when I was a kid. I had come dressed for the occasion, wearing a Starbuck t-shirt I'd gotten from 80stees.com and you should've seen Dirk's face when he saw it! LOL! He was floored that his face was on a shirt and he had me give him the website. :-)
I swear I could barely talk, but I handed over my Battlestar Galactica Storybook, that I've had since 1979 and it's in near pristine condition, too. In fact both Dirk and Herb Jefferson (at the table next to Dirk's) remarked that they'd signed a lot of these books over the years, but never one in such good condition.
Charity and I just had the most lovely conversation with Dirk. He was so nice and so charming and he talked about his family (he's a single dad who raised two sons) and his life in Montana and then Herb joined in the conversation, too. It was just so relaxed and there was no one else in line behind us, so we just talked and talked. And the entire time I was in awe that I was standing in front of Starbuck. :-) He signed my book, "To Barb - Let me fly you to the moon in my Viper!" Squee!
I asked if I could have my photo with him and he was all, "Of course!" and he came around from behind the table and hugged me right to him. It was SO awesome. And I truly felt like that little kid again.
So here's 8 year-old Barbie with Lt. Starbuck *g*

Dirk actually asked Charity to take a second picture from farther away that showed my t-shirt:

At some point Dirk and Herb started talking about ages and I had no idea until that moment that Dirk was born in 1945 - the same year my parents were. When I mentioned this to Charity all she kept saying was, "You could be Starbuck's daughter!" LOL! And all I kept thinking was, "Good lord, when I was eight years old I had a crush on a guy who was the same age as my dad was!"
Thanks for being so totally amazing, Dirk. It took me 30 years to finally meet you, but it was worth the wait. :-)
