Supernatural anime - The Alter Ego

It took me forever to download both parts of the first episode of the Supernatural anime last night, so I didn't get a chance to watch it until this morning.
I think that Andrew guy is doing a pretty okay job of dubbing Dean's voice. It will never compare to Jensen's, but there were many times that he sounded really close. But it was just so jarring to hear Jared's voice as Sam and then not hear Jensen's voice in reply, you know? I truly wish we knew Jensen's decision to only do the voice work on two of the anime episodes.
Still not a big fan of the way Dean is drawn but I thought the episode in general was really well done. Especially the Impala! LOL!
It was strange watching an episode that was based on Skin, but then diverged in many, many ways. I think I'm going to enjoy the truly original episodes of the anime more than these kind, because I kept going, "But wait, that's not what really happened!". I had thought they were going to be a straight retelling of the SPN episodes more than a "Inspired by" kinda thing.
So what did all of YOU think of "The Alter Ego"?
Even without Jensen I'm looking forward to more of the anime.

Date: 2011-02-25 04:25 pm (UTC)I assume the anime is entirely Samcentric, and maybe that's the reason? Also, Jensen has been doing a good job of getting voice work outside of his SPN duties, and I do think it's smart of him to try and branch out and keep that separate from his current day job, especially if he hopes to score more V/O gigs in the future whenever SPN goes off the air.
Though, honestly, after the less than respectful way Jensen has been treated this season by the showrunner(s), and the WB and the CW in the sudden pimping of JP as the sole lead of the show after five seasons, I personally hope he said, 'screw it, I'm not doing more than I have to or that benefits myself.'

But for him to not do Dean in the anime seems kind of wrong, since this is the role that has gotten him recognition to be asked to do other VO work.
But I also don't know what went on behind the scenes for him to say no. I'm sure he had a good reason. Who knows, it could've went down exactly how you said. I feel that Dean's character has gotten the shaft for years.

I mean, if I looked like Jensen, and my anime character came out looking like a cross between a chibi and the comic relief character with the big eyes who overreacts to everything in every anime, I'd want some proof that there was more seroiusness and thought behind it!

LOL!! I truly don't know how you can take a man as gorgeous as Jensen and draw him like that. Was it the same person who did those horrible statues?? Or were they just blind?
