Morning, guys!

Got my issue of the new Supernatural magazine in the mail the other day and finally had a chance to sit down and read it last night.

There were a couple of tidbits that caught my attention. The first is from Jensen, talking about how he got into acting. I've read countless interviews with him, but I don't remember him telling the story quite like this, with leaving baseball and playing in West Side Story. I bet he knocked it out of the park as Tony!

~~~~
"That transition happened my senior year in high school," states Ackles. "I was playing baseball, and our team was not going to make it to the playoffs and go any further. It was my last year in high school, and the drama teacher had asked me quite a bit to come and be a part of the annual play that they put on, and I'd always responded, 'I can't, I got baseball.' So I thought, 'You know what? I've been doing baseball for three years.'
I went to my coach and said, 'Hey, I think I'm going to cut out early this season and go do the play.' I thought he was going to rip my head off! Surprisingly enough, he was like, 'Good for you! You're only in high school once. Experience as much as you can. You've given me two and a half solid years of your life. Go have fun. I can't wait to see the play.'
Then opening night, I had my whole baseball team in the first two rows. And I'm singing - we did West Side Story and I played Tony. I'm signing this song in the very beginning and the stage lights are bouncing just enough light off into the audience that I could see the first three rows, and I look down and I see all of my teammates looking at me [with expressions that said] 'What is he doing?' But they all came up to me afterward, and said, 'Nice job, man. That was pretty cool.' From then on I thought, 'Wait a minute. I think I can do this."
~~~~

The next is from an interview with Jake Abel, about any behind the scenes things he could share:

"I found out from the guys at ADR (automated dialogue replacement) that there's a theory that Eric Kripke controls all. For example, did you know he controls the weather? Yeah. He'll write things in the script like, "There are two clouds in the sky," and then they'll go to film and there'll be two clouds in the sky. It's actually pretty creepy!

So when Kripke wrote that whole opening thing in Swan Song about the assembly of the Impala, he just had this idea of what he wanted, but then it turned out for the crew researching it that there was some actual footage of the Impala being built on an assembly line. Apparently, though, it's really rare that they ever had footage of cars being built at that time, but they had the Impala, the same style and make and everything, being built. It was this super creepy moment for the crew when they were like, "How on Earth…?"

~~~~
Ha! Who knew Eric had that kind of power! It IS kinda creepy, isn't it? :-)
Oh, wow. What a coincidence! That is weird and creepy!
It's nice that Jensen feels he can open up a bit more and share his more personal stories with us. :-)
Wouldn't it have been wonderful to see him sing in that play?? I wonder if there are any photos of him in the play in his old high school yearbook. :-)
Yes, I met Jake at last year's VancouverCon and he was the sweetest, funniest guy. I really liked him.
Ooh, very nice.
I wonder how much searching they did to find the footage of the Impala. That sounds like a fun job!
I saw a black & chrome 60s car coming at me on the road the other day. It was (I think) a Chevelle, not an Impala. It looked like a '67 or '68 though! And I tried to see who was behind the wheel, but they were driving too fast and the road was all twisty.
(edited because I got the wrong car!)
Ha, yeah, right? I wonder if they had to get permission from Chevy to show it. Or if they actually went to them first and asked for footage when they started researching.
I'm not sure I actually know what a Chevelle looks like! Does it resemble the Impala?
I had a moment like that while driving and saw a black Impala coming at me. Nearly had a wreak in all the lunchtime traffic, then had to fumble for my cell phone so I could call my friend, who was driving behind me, so I could hyperventilate. She thought I was nuts, but it made my day. XD
LOL! I would've done the same thing! Did you get a look at the driver? Was he wearing a leather jacket and have short, spiky hair? ;-)
Nope, I was too busy drooling and then getting back into my lane to look for the driver, but one of my SPN friends saw the same car a few days later at a nearby restaurant and called to tell me it was a Mexican guy driving. That was a bummer, but hey, there's a local sister to the car that saved the world here, so we both give her a nod of appreciation when we see her driving by. ;D
I'm totally convinced that Kripke is GOD. At the very least, he's Little Baby Jesus.
ROTFL!! For some reason I like this even better than God! The mental image of Kripke's head on a baby's body put me into hysterics. :-)
I think Jensen's anecdote is from the Jensen and Jared meeting room at Rising Con in Spain, it was where I hear him told it, and whith almost that exacts words.
And about Eric being God...I knew it!! xD
Hey, thanks so much for the info! I wonder if Titan magazine had a reporter at the con or if someone told them the story.
Isn't it? :-) I can just picture Jensen on stage, singing his heart out. And Kripke? We've been referring to him as God for years! Who knew we were right all along? ;-)
