Because I wasn't on the computer all weekend, I missed this bit of Supernatural casting news for season six from SpoilerTV.
Supernatural - Episode 6.03 - The Third Man - Casting News Update
‘Fringe‘ shape-shifter Sebastian Roché is adopting yet another new form: as an angel on The CW’s ‘Supernatural.’
The Paris-born actor broke the casting news via his Twitter feed, but offered no details on his role.
That’s why I’m here.
Fancast has learned exclusively that Roché will guest-star on ‘Supernatural’ in the upcoming season’s third episode, “The Third Man,” as Balthazar – an angel/soldier friend of Castiel’s.
“Remember when Cass (played by Misha Collins) was dragged back to Heaven as a prisoner? Balthazar was actually the only friend who stood up for him,” ‘Supernatural’ executive producer Sera Gamble notes. “During the Apocalypse, Balthazar went AWOL, and Cass thought he was dead. Turns out… not so much.”
So what is Balty up to, and why is he hanging among the humanfolk? Says Gamble, “He’s doing some very interesting, shady stuff we’ve never seen an angel do before.”
Roché also is set to reprise his role as shape-shifter Thomas Jerome Newton multiple times over the course of ‘Fringe’s first batch of Season 3 episodes.
‘Supernatural’ moves to Fridays at 9/8c this fall, with the new season premiering September 24.

I LOVE Sebastian Roché. Ever since I first saw him on Odyssey 5, so I'm super excited to see him on Supernatural. I hope he's in more than one episode. Sounds like he will be.
I'm just so happy that there's finally a spoiler that's not making me want to throw up or pound my head against the wall. I'm glad Cas will be getting his own side-story here with Balthazar.
What do you guys think about this spoiler? Glad the angels are still around or are you done with these guys?

Date: 2010-08-09 05:15 pm (UTC)How strange you talked about SPN and now here he is! I think we got lucky with Fringe also filming in Vancouver.
Can't wait to see him as an angel!

Date: 2010-08-09 03:45 pm (UTC)D'OH! That's where I know him from - thank you! Brain is all muddled these days.
But, yeah, Cas's story line sounds terrific - in fact, it's the ONLY thing that sounds really good so far. Though, as much as I love Cas, I might grow to resent his kick-ass story line if there's nothing good for Dean on the horizon (and I don't dislike the Lisa-Ben thing) - especially after the end of last season.
But it does sound like they're trying to make it up to Misha for screwing him over too last year. Maybe he has compromising photos of the producers - if so, good for him! ;)

I couldn't agree more. I was getting ready to cringe when I clicked on the SpoilerTV link, fully expecting to hate this spoiler, too.

Honestly, I hold no hope for Dean next season. He'll be a nothing character, pining and weeping over Lisa and angry at Sam while Sam is now the big, tough hunter and treats his brother like crap. Not really surprising after what they did to Dean last season and now that he's "domesticated". I'm hoping Cas's storyline is great, because he'll probably be what I'm focusing on next season.

LOL! With Misha I wouldn't put it past him!

Date: 2010-08-09 07:26 pm (UTC)He's also a fantastic actor and I think he and Misha are going to play very well against each other. I'm really looking forward to this storyline. So far it's the ONLY thing I'm looking forward to next season!

Date: 2010-08-10 01:47 am (UTC)Roar! THAT'S where I first saw him, not Odyssey 5! I knew I'd liked him for longer than that. :-) I can't believe I forgot Longinus. And a baby-faced Heath Ledger. That was a good show. It's what got me to start listening to Loreena McKennitt.
