Sorry I was missing in action yesterday, guys. I was down for the count with a migraine and home sick for the day. I hate having to use my personal time for crap like this. Grrr....

I was feeling better around dinner time, thankfully, because my good friend [livejournal.com profile] gnitejboy had told me that Ghost Hunters Academy on SyFy Channel was going to be at the Stanley Hotel last night for their season finale.

I couldn't believe it, since I was just at the Stanley two weeks ago!! I was surprised that our tour guide didn't mention they'd been filming there, but then again, that kid only wanted to talk about himself. Anyway, I couldn't wait to see if they had any ghostly encounters like I did in the 4th floor hallway. Or have any really crazy stuff happen to them like the regular GH team did back in 2006 when they were there.

Even though it ended up being that nothing terribly creepy happened during the episode, it was still pretty darn interesting. The team members kept using the flashlight technique to communicate with the ghosts in various rooms and it worked every time! Too cool! And several times it appeared that they were communicating with Lord Dunraven.

As for the hallway where I experienced the ghostly slamming doors, I was excited to see that the team set up a stationary camera there. Though they never showed them actually IN the hallway during the episode, it was the only spot where they captured audio evidence - a woman saying "Good morning". I was all thrilled, but then that Jason guy completely dismissed it! Wha...? WHY? And then he jumped all over that Adam kid for not hearing this other evidence when there was nothing there.

In the end it was neat to see a place I'd just been to and been in so many of the rooms the GH team went in to and know that there really are spirits there. :-)

I watched GHA last night. I have seen a lot of GH and I know why Jason dismissed that Good Morning. He thought it could have been someone in the hotel talking to someone else and the recorder just picked it up. He thought it was a conversation between two guests or two workers.

I don't know why he yelled at Adam about that piece of evidence. I didn't hear anything on it either.

They've been to the Stanley at least 2 times before and have caught a lot of stuff. It was strange that they didn't really get anything this time. Maybe the ghosts didn't want to play, well, except for the flashlight.

Which is bizarre, because it was the middle of the night when it was filmed, so someone saying Good Morning was kinda strange.

I don't know why he yelled at Adam about that piece of evidence. I didn't hear anything on it either.

Plus the fact that Jason himself couldn't even say what he heard and on the screen all we got was [Noise]. That was bogus and I felt sorry for Adam.

I need to go and try and find those episodes because now I'm curious!

Maybe the ghosts didn't want to play, well, except for the flashlight.

My husband was watching with me and I said something along the same lines and he said that maybe after 100 years the ghosts are getting tired of being bothered. :-)

I don't know if the episodes are on the SyFy channel website or not. I know one of them is a live Halloween special. They're on Itunes, might be on Netflix or Amazon.

The Stanley Hotel episodes of Ghost Hunters are in the Season 1, Part 1 disk set (I don't know which episode without plopping it in the DVD player as they are not listed on the back of the box.

The second investigation was the live Halloween investigation which took 6 hours of TV time but comes in about 4 hours or so in a separate DVD all on it's own. This is the episode that inadvertently got me into wrestling!

Have fun! =P

Is that the same hotel they used in The Shining?

Gorgeous!

Well, not exactly. Steven King stayed at the Stanley while he wrote the movie, and that's what inspired it, but when the movie was going to be filmed they picked someplace out in Oregon instead. The Stanley wasn't isolated enough (it's in downtown Estes Park) and didn't get enough snow.

But when ABC did the mini-series of The Shining several years ago for TV, the entire thing was filmed at the Stanley.

It really is a very pretty hotel.

It really is a beautiful hotel. It's got several outbuildings, too, made in the same style and a lovely garden in the back of the main hotel, plus a HUGE front lawn.

Yeah, the migraine sucked, but at least the ghosts were cool and the night ended well!

it is that good! to see that paranormal activity! even when it is little. but again, how he ghosts return the communications with the team, when they were flashing them?

I still thinking that something has to happen there. I don't think no one wants to be on earth, when something good have to be in other life ( of course thinking as a catholic)

Yes, the team would put a flashlight down on a bed or table, turned off, then ask the ghost if it could turn it on. If it did, then they would ask it Yes or No questions and it would answer by turning the light on or off. It was really neat!

As for the afterlife, I don't know. There's got to be some reason why some spirits choose to stay here and not cross over. [shrug] We won't know until it's our time!
