Oops, almost forgot to post this today! More Christmas boys!

The hubby and I finally got our Christmas tree up last night. (for those of you confused by my last post about Hanukkah, John is Jewish and I'm not, so we get twice the celebrations!) Actually, it's not our tree. We're borrowing it from my friend at work. Sounds bizarre, doesn't it? :-) See, for the last nine years, John and I lived in a place that had vaulted ceilings in the living room. And my Jewish husband wanted the biggest artificial tree he could find. [shakes head] So we have a twelve foot pre-lit tree. Only problem is, now that we're in our new house, we don't have vaulted ceilings anymore, so the tree won't fit in the living room. [sigh]

We were talking about decorating at work the other day and I mentioned that our tree won't fit anymore and that we don't have the money right now to go buy a smaller one. My friend that sits next to me bought a new, bigger tree this year, so her smaller one was just sitting in a box in her garage, so she offered to loan it to John and I this year. Yay! So now we've got a borrowed tree. :-)

It's only six feet tall so it looks SO tiny compared to what we're used to and we got it decorated in a third of the time it usually took us. But at least we've got a tree, and after Christmas we'll see if we can get a new one for ourselves when they all go on sale. :-)

This weekend - gift wrapping time!

Wow you have a "Christkindlmarkt" in Chicago and they even sell stuff from Germany there? That's awesome! Now that I think about it,I have been to a market like that during my year in Philly, but that was nearly 20 years ago ;o)
I just love it when it's really cold, you drink the mulled wine, have all those nice smells in the air,the beautiful lights, the music...it just makes the christmas season so special.
And guess what - today we had the very first snow this winter, yeah! It was not enough to last long but there is hope for more and a white christmas!
Yep,decorating the christmas tree is always a lot of fun for the whole family and I promise to put a pic of it in my LJ.
I can imagine that decorating the tree with a ladder is not much fun but I'm sure it looked fantastic! Love the 6 ft. tree with the train around it though.

Yep! It's hugely popular and has been going on for many years. It's right in the heart of downtown Chicago, where our HUGE Christmas tree stands, so it's nice to have the tree surrounded by all of these booths and people milling about.

I took a pic of my German tree that I'll post on LJ so you can see. :-)

Yes! That's exactly what it's like! I went last year with my best friend Chris and the temperature that evening was perfect. Cold, but not absolutely freezing and the mulled wine tasted SO good. :-)

Does that mean I don't have to ship any over to you? *g*
