Randomness on a Friday

The hubby and I had "date night" last night and we went to finally go see Public Enemies with Johnny Depp and Christian Bale. It's obviously a true story, so you know how it's going to end, but I just wanted to see the hotness of Depp and Bale on the screen together. :-) Overall, though, I was kinda disappointed in it. The trailer made it seem much more action packed than it was.
I almost felt sorry for Dillinger. He never hurt a hostage or employee robbing the banks (and only took the bank's money), valued friendship and loyalty and truly loved Billie. It was basically the Mob deciding they wanted to be top dog around and cutting Dillinger off from everyone he knew that ultimately got him, and all of his friends, killed. I'm certainly not condoning Dillinger's actions. He was most definitely a criminal. But this story made me a bit sympathetic towards him. And showed how truly inept the "Bureau of Investigations" was back then! I wonder if that's why Purvis quit them a year after Dillinger was killed. He took his own life in 1960, which I didn't know until this movie.

My lovely friend
sn_24lover asked me if I could find out what the ratings were for Leverage's second season premiere. And I did!
It drew 3.9 million viewers!
Last night’s second-season premiere of LEVERAGE was watched by 3,890,000 viewers and 2,724,000 households. It also scored a 2.8 coverage household rating/2.4 national household rating. The episode outdelivered its first-season Live + Same Day average, with viewers up 24% and households up 20%. It also elevated TNT’s Wednesday 9-10 p.m. time period over the same night last year, with viewers up 113% and households up 70%.
Great job Nate Ford and Company! :-)

Wanted to give a quick shout out and thanks to
joygoddess for the lovely postcard from the Netherlands! What a nice surprise! Look for one from Chicago in your mailbox soon. :-)

My buddy Andrew and I are getting ready to rock out tonight at the DEF LEPPARD concert! Woot! They're playing with Poison and Cheap Trick and I can't wait!
It reminded me of the last time I saw Def Leppard, then was inspired to write my Sam/Dean fic, Do You Wanna Get Rocked? :-)
~~~~~
And last but not least, I'm still experimenting with my new camera, so I took it outside and snapped a few pics of the flowers in our front lawn:
Man, I'm really pleased with this camera!
Ok, folks, gotta run. Have a great Friday!
Date: 2009-07-17 12:50 pm (UTC)A couple of friends and I watched Harry Potter two days ago and there was a big poster for "Public Enemies" (I think it comes out in 3 weeks here). I asked one of my friends if we're going to watch it (she's a big Bale fan and another one of my friends is a big Depp fan^^) and she said that she wasn't sure if she really wanted to see this in cinema, because she read so many bad reviews :(
Date: 2009-07-17 03:10 pm (UTC)Oh, thank you! We really lucked out with the flowers. The previous owners planted them all along our front walkway. There's even more different ones I didn't take photos of.
How was HP? That's the next one I want to see.
Yeah, it didn't get good reviews here, either. I mean, it was an okay movie, I didn't hate it or anything, I just wasn't like Wow! Great film! Like I was with Star Trek. :-)
Date: 2009-07-17 07:41 pm (UTC)How did Public Enemies end? Well, unfortunately with the death of John Dillinger, as that's what really happened back in 1933. But Johnny Depp gave a great performance!
have fun this evening for the concert
Thank you! The concert is outside and the weather's not too great today. I'm hoping it doesn't rain!
beautiful flowers.
Glad you like them! They look very pretty along my walkway at home. :-)
Date: 2009-07-17 04:57 pm (UTC)And 3.9M viewers. VERY COOL!!! Thanks for finding that out for me. **hugs** Love me some Leverage. You so need to write a Eliot/Dean fic. *evil laugh*
And totally jealous of your Def Leppard concert. They are going to be in MI next Friday but by the time I got some money the tickets were sold out. But that is okay I have seen them for the last three years so I guess I can miss a year. LOL Have a blast and rock-on for me.
3.9 million was freaking awesome! And the fact that this season premiere did even better than last year!
Eliot/Dean - my computer monitor may spontaneously combust if I attempt to write that. ;-)
Def Leppard is awesome! Been two years since they were here in Chicago so I'm looking forward to it, even though I've lost count the number of times I've seen them since I was a teenager. :-)
POUR SOME SUGAR ON ME!!
Date: 2009-07-20 07:18 pm (UTC)Well write Dean/Eliot on you work computer then. Let them pay for the new one. :)
LOL! That's an excellent plan! Especially since my computer at home is better than this one. :-)
Jam to "Let's Get Rocked" for me, my favorite Def Leppard song.
That's what they played as their final song! I was definitely jamming for you. :-)
Date: 2009-07-17 05:42 pm (UTC)Of course, I did adore seeing Rory Cochrane playing Christan Bale's right hand man as it were. Silly like that I know.
Love your pictures. And great news about Leverage.
Date: 2009-07-17 07:39 pm (UTC)And yeah, with as violent as those times were back in the 30's, I can easily imagine that's why Purvis quit just a year later. Not to mention the pressure he was under from Hoover.
Yes! Rory! I didn't even know he was in this! I loved him on CSI Miami and I don't remember seeing him in anything else since, till this movie. I was crushed when he was killed!
Glad you liked the pics and yep, Leverage is off to a great start!
Hubby and I want to go see Public Enemies. We already know Dillenger's story, but did you know that there are height and scar discrepancies between the body which was brought in as Dillenger and Dillenger?
Date: 2009-07-20 07:15 pm (UTC)Thanks! I'm having fun with this new camera.
Me, too! And it bested last year's season premiere, so that's fantastic.
but did you know that there are height and scar discrepancies between the body which was brought in as Dillenger and Dillenger?
No way! I had no idea! Sounds like a conspiracy theory. Hmmm....
