Mark Pellegrino's career is on fire. Literally.



Sources confirm to me exclusively that the actor -- who was unmasked as Lost's enigmatic Jacob at the end of last season -- is joining the cast of Supernatural as none other than the Prince of Darkness himself, Lucifer.

Lucifer was released from hell in Supe's season finale last month, although we never caught a glimpse of the little devil's face. All of that will change when Pellegrino (also known for his role as Rita's rather satanic ex on Dexter) debuts in the show's Sept. 10 season premiere.

So, does this mean we've seen the last of Jacob on Lost? An ABC rep couldn't be reached for comment, but here's a potential clue: Pellegrino isn't joining Supernatural as a full-time series regular; his status is listed as recurring. You do the math.

Well, we've got our Lucifer! He looks like he could be sinister. :-) I'm not familar with this actor. Are any of you? Think he'll do a good job?

OMG! You're right! I told John when I first saw his pic that he looked familiar. Ok, I'm on board with him as Lucifer, then. If he can kick Jim Ellison's butt, he'll be a good foe for the Winchester boys. :-)

I thought he looked familiar so I hopped over to IMDB. According to them he's been on a couple of episodes of CSI and CSI Miami. He's been on X-Files and he played Ray Weston on The Sentinel episode Out of the Past. There's a bunch of other stuff listed, but that's all I'd see him in.

He does look like an interesting choice. We'll see how he does.

Oh, I would have LOVED to have Richard Burgi play Lucifer. He would've been fantastic!

But we'll just have to keep our fingers crossed that Mark is up to the challenge and can play the part believably.

No, I never saw him in Lost. He was in an episode of The Sentinel many, many years ago. He played a bad guy and was very good at it, so I hope that he does well playing bad guy Lucifer. :-)

This is a particularly bad picture. There are some better ones over on imdb.com that make him look less sinister and a lot more attractive.

I saw him on Dexter as Rita's ex, and he was fairly scary in that role.

He also played Jacob on the most recent season finale of Lost, so he can play charming and sympathetic as well as scary. Honestly, that picture is a poor choice, but I guess Ausiello was looking for that type of sinister look. Bonus: He's a good actor!

I don't watch Lost anymore, haven't since season two, so I don't know of his skills, but I didn't picture Lucifer like this. He does look sinister, and I've heard he can play sinister, but I don't find him very attractive, and I've always thought that Lucifer should be very attractive, since he's supposed to be very charismatic and charming (but, ya know what? I watched Reaper and didn't think that Devil was attractive evil, but he was at least, objectively speaking, an attractive man.). I mean, there's just something about all of the features on this man's face that DON'T add up to attractive to me.

Who knows... Maybe I'm just being REALLY picky since I was holding out for Rosenbaum, no matter how pipe dreamy that was (God, that would have been AMAZING), and maybe I'm spoiled since Misha turned out so well and the Js are so great, and I was SO happy to get rid of Genevieve (and even though I disliked Bela, I thought her the acting worked well). I'll reserve judgment.

You're not the only one who commented that Mark isn't quite what you pictured Lucifer as looking like. I've only seen Mark in The Sentinel and he played a great bad guy, so I've got high hopes he'll do well. [fingers crossed] Because hell, can he possibly do worse than Genevieve?? :-)
