My shiny new SPN banner - and need LJ help

Oooo, lookit my cool Supernatural banner! :-)

partners4life - my Lana - I love you. I know you gave me the html codes to do the banner way back in February, and I just now got around to it, but without your help I'd still have a plain ol' LJ layout. You're the best!

But now I seem to have another problem and I'm hoping someone can help. All that black on my page now is really bugging me. I've seen other folks who have a repeating picture as their background and I'd love to do the same.

I thought I figured out how to do it last night, but it didn't work. I went into the Manage - Customize page and found where you can put in an URL for a picture for a background (which I had uploaded into Photobucket). I put the URL in, Saved Changes...but nothing happened. Still got all that black.

Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong? Thanks!

For your background image, what are your repeat and position settings?

It is also possible that your banner settings are not compatible with a second background image (It is the background image and it is scrolling with the LJ.)

Ok, it says Repeat then Center then Scroll.

Does that help? Should I change one or more of them to make the background image appear?

If it can't be done, can I at least change the color to something other than black?

You can change the background color to whatever you like, on the custom options/colors page. It's the first item. Either enter the hex code for the color or choose it by clicking on the color palatte.

As for the positioning of the background image try Top Left for position when using a repeat. I'm still not sure how it will work with your banner, though.

Well, I gave up trying to get the banner and the repeating image and went with just the repeating image. :-)

Yeah, this is where you need someone who is good with layout design to work with you to build a custom layout with both. The customizing tools just don't let you do these things.

There are several communities on LJ that have tutorials on building layouts or layouts that are public that you can add to your own LJ.
