Oh man, this makes me SO depressed, reading this. I don't want just one more year of Supernatural!

'Supernatural' Coming To An End?!?

From the NY Post PopWrap:

As one of the only TV shows posting ratings gains this season, you'd think that "Supernatural" was just getting started -- preparing to introduce more baddies, more ladies and give the Winchester brothers a lot more to do. Well, you'd be wrong. In fact, everyone involved with The CW's spookfest is preparing to shut down the show next year!

"Despite what the network and studio may or may not want, I don't have more than five seasons of a story," creator Eric Kripke tells EW of the show, currently in it's fourth year. "I would be willing to make sure there are enough villains and heroes around to continue a new story, but there's no way I'm doing season six."

But at the end of the day, show runners leave their series all the time and -- "Smallville" dealt with it last season and it's currently experiencing a creative high. The bigger problem facing "Supernatural" is that the stars feel the same way.

"We don't live at home. We don't sleep in our own beds. Our families aren't here. Our friends aren't here. Out girlfriends aren't here," Jensen Ackles says of the Vancouver-shot series. "To do it for another five years ... I don't know if I could handle it."

His on-screen brother, Jared Padalecki, seconds that sentiment. "I don't want to be cheesy and here's Sam and Dean at age 50 sitting in wheelchairs. I'd rather leave them [fans] wanting more than get to the point where they boo you off stage."

What say you "Supernatural" fans -- are you ready to big adieu to the Winchester's or should The CW do whatever they have to (money! cars! blackmail! evil curses!) so the stars stick around?

What do you think, guys?

As much as I love the guys, I don't trust the storyline anymore. The myth arc is already screwed and I really cannot stand the idea of the show disintegrating into a One Tree Hill type mess. One person was blathering on her journal about how she would love to see Sam and Dean start families of their own with Ruby and Anna! And I just cringed--dear god, NO. I would rather have it end with a bang then that particualar scenario! *shudders*

I think there are plenty more stories out there for Sam and Dean and they could go back to being like season 1 and do an urban ledgend each week.
I cannot believe there is only one more season left. I remember when I found out that Jensen was going to be in a new tv show and it only feels like yesterday.
Supernatural is such a big part of my life that I think nI will be lost without it.

I don't want it to end, but I think it will be better story telling if it does end - lots of shows go on and on, way past their sell by date, and they suck after a while. So they should end it while the story is still true to itself. If Kripke doesn't think he can go past a 5 year character development arc, then he almost definitely shouldn't.

If Kripke has told the story he set out to tell at the end of next year, then I'll be glad to bid them farewell. I would rather see the show end well than fizzle out to the point that I'm only watching because I loved it so much once upon a time. And really, I can't expect the boys to keep going with this schedule forever. The fact that it hasn't killed them already kind of astounds me.

While I do wish that they could go back to the basics without the huge, tangled mytharch, I trust Kripke to give the show the ending it deserves.

I remember Kripke saying he had plans for SPN being 5 seasons so I've always had it in my head that 5 seasons is what we'd get. I definitely don't want to start feeling about SPN the way I do about Smallville - absolutely love the early seasons and totally can't stand it anymore. I would definitely rather have SPN go out on a high note - I know you didn't like last season at all and I'm not exactly sure how you feel this season, but I've really enjoyed it and I want to enjoy it to it's end.

I liken it to B5. JMS told us it would be a five year arc and it was (sort of). He thought he was only going to get four years so he shoved everything into the last year...only to get the fifth one (and the series went downhill because he had used all of his material). I don't want to see that happen to Kripke...which it has to a certain extent. Kripke didn't think he was going to get a fifth year. He started shoving everything into 5. I'll be interested to see what he does next year...but I don't want to push him for another one after that.

I just want him to tell the story he set off to tell.

I know folks want it to go on forever, but I want the show to end on a high note. I don't want Jensen and Jared to hate the Winchester brothers. I also don't want them to get type cast, they're young and should have a chance to accept a variety of roles.

I guess it depends on whether we get an end to it all or not. There has to be an ending for me

I said 'yes' but not because I actually WANT the show to end (very far from it, it's actually my favorite show, by a longshot, and I honestly can't imagine my Thursday nights - or fanfic life - without it or the boys) but because Kripke has always had a '5 year plan' and I, as a true fan, respect his wishes. I've always said that I trust in him so whatever he has planned I'll go along for the ride, whether it's five years or fifty (though I honestly hope it ends on a high note with the two of them hunting things a la the end of the Pilot and not a blaze of glory like Jared and Jensen seem to want the show to end).

Also, on a totally unrelated note, is tonight's episode just making you SQUEAL?

Well, I watched the last "ER" tonight...

...and I only watched it occasionally the last few seasons. The storylines got too silly(I mean, death by helicopter?)and there were characters brought in that I didn't give a crap about. I don't want that to happen to SPN.

Yes, I know I can say that now with Season Five on the horizon, and I'll still mourn at the end, but SPN has always been on the bubble at the CW, and let me tell you, it's really getting exhausting hoping it gets renewed each year; not having to face that again makes me very happy. Besides, the network has crapped on the show so long (lack of publicity, Rubella, you name it)that I really want Kripke to flip 'em the bird and walk away. TPTB have screwed enough with the show; let 'em find something else to put in that Time Slot From Hell and see if it does any better.

As for the guys...well, take a look at the Paley. They look a lot younger then, don't they, and not just in years! They have given up so much for the show, hell, they've carried it on their own shoulders. I think it's time for them to set this sucker down, and I will cheer (and cry)when they walk off the set for the last time. They've been gentlemen through all our fangirl craziness, and we should all wish them well and watch for their next projects.

(And Kripke, I'm begging you, end it well. That means no babies, no Children I didn't Know I Had, no weddings, no sugar-coated crap like that. That has all been done to absolute death.)

Would I like to see an SPN movie? Really not sure at this point. If that were possible, I'd hope it would be a stand-alone tale.

I'm going to love Season Five because it IS the end. Storm clouds are gathering, the writing is great, the stakes are getting higher, and I have faith (tho I am crossing my fingers)that the finale will be awesome. And I'm gonna have tissues on hand, because I am going to bawl like a baby. And SPN's going to live on afterward, because the porn ain't stopping, not from this chick.

Farewell, SPN. Bring it on home, boys.

I love Supernatural, and these characters are phenomenal. I will definitely be depressed to not see J2 acting together any more, and to not be able to see them every week.

But, they're tired. The writers are tired. I'm sure the crew is tired. They work long days, and they never really get the ratings they deserve. I'm sure it will be a relief to them to not worry about the ratings next season.

Also, they're both in their prime as far as their careers. They really need their time free to be able to take better roles in better projects if they come along.

Also, I'm tired myself of the storyline - liking it, not liking it, hating it, liking it again, worrying about it, watching other fans love it or hate it, etc.

This is SUCH an intense show, and the fans are intense about the show, the writers, the characters and even each other. Five years is a good run. I can accept it.

I wouldn't mind as much to see the show end if we they kept the novels coming - but well written novels, not the Decandido crap. I would love to see SPN novels written by fans, like Fandemonium is doing for SG-1 and SGA.

I would love to see the show continue but I understand that Jared and Jensen are young and they don't want to be tied down to one show :( I'm just happy that we will get the five years that we were promised by Kripke.
