So where the heck did that weekend go?

Morning!
First, my apologies to all of you who left me awesome comments on my (and Tina Charles') review of Lazarus Rising on Friday. I was swamped with things at work and home and didn't get to respond back, and then I took the weekend off from LJ. So I promise to get to those comments today. :-)
So Saturday was an exercise in frustration. I had assembled all of my supplies to make my fannish hat for Crazy Hat Night at Eastern Media Con and was excited about putting the thing together. Only I failed miserably. [sigh] The vision in my head just would not translate to reality. After hours of trying to make it work I finally gave up in disgust.
My hubby, in an attempt to cheer me up, took me to TGI Friday's for dinner. It just so happened that my Chicago Cubs were playing that night and where we were seated had a perfect view of the TV set in the bar. The whole place went nuts when the Cubs won - DIVISION CHAMPS, people!! We're getting ever closer to finally breaking that 100 year curse. :-)
After dinner we had to stop at Meijer's for a few things, and we had to walk past the Halloween section. There I saw a hat that immediately had me redesigning my fannish hat in my head and got me excited all over again. I bought the hat then dragged hubby to Michael's where I grabbed a few things for said hat.
I was in a much better mood when I got home and watched Lazarus Rising again before heading off to bed.
I had a lovely afternoon on Sunday with
charityflint,
anakin415 and
asyouleft.
We met up for lunch at Lone Star steakhouse where we had yummy drinks, delicious food and excellent conversation - most of it revolving around Supernatural. :-)
The best part came after lunch, though, when
anakin415 suddenly announced at the table, in her best Dean voice, "I want some pie!" LOL! Well that did it, now we ALL wanted pie! We racked our brains and
charityflint said there was a grocery store not too far away. We could get the pie and go back to her house and eat it.
But no,
anakin415 thought it would be better to tailgate in the store parking lot and eat it right then and there! Ha! And that's exactly what we did. We got ourselves a french silk pie (YUM!), paper plates and plastic forks, opened up the back of both
asyouleft's van and
charityflint's car, turned on some tunes and ate pie right there in the parking lot. Are we nuts or what? :-) You should've seen the looks people were giving us! ROTFL!! Oh! I nearly forgot that
asyouleft had with her in her purse the little Impala from the DVD set, which she put on top of the pie and then took a picture! Ha!
Best afternoon ever. :-)
Back home, I sat down and completely re-did my fannish hat, with great success! I only have a few things left to do, then I'll take pics and post so you can all laugh at what I created. *g*
So that was my weekend in a nutshell. How was YOURS?

Date: 2008-09-23 02:14 am (UTC)That was the best idea ever, my friend. :-)
I do not have a Dean/Pie icon, so Dean with candy in his mouth will have to suffice. *g*
