Supernatural in Sci Fi Now magazine

I was at the bookstore last night and picked up a magazine called Sci Fi Now, a UK publication. It said Supernatural on the front, so I flipped through and found four pages on our show. It was in a section called Retrospective, and they were discussing season one.

Each episode got a blurb and a rating from one to five stars and the reviewer's opinion on it (which I didn't always agree with!)

There was also a short breakdown of the characters (Sam, Dean, John, the YED and Meg) then a breakdown of the best scene of the season (from Shadow) and the worst scene of the season (from Bloody Mary).

I can't believe they thought that scene in Bloody Mary was worse than the midnight to Dawn only takes 15 minutes scene in Bugs. Also Dead Man's Blood is definitely 4 stars.

They were spot on for so many of their "verdicts" but really missed the ball on that one and Faith, for sure.

That's definitely the one that floored me, since Faith is my favorite of all of season one. They were pretty on target with the rest of their 'verdicts' but really missed the ball on that one!

Yeah, I would definitely be adding a few more stars than they had (I *like* Bloody Mary), especially to Faith and Hell House, but I like how they recognize the progression of awesomeness that is in our show.

Yes! I mean, Faith is my hands down favorite of season one, and Hell House is still my favorite funny episode.

They do get kudos for that. And even I'm one to admit that the show really didn't truly come together till midway through that first year, and then it just kept barreling on all the way through second season.

Thanks for scanning. It's good to see the added publicity this could bring to the show. I like how this article is objective about the flaws yet positive throughout. SPN has indeed improved since S1, which was admittedly weaker than other premiere seasons in this genre (notably BSG and Heroes). In fact, I wasn't even hooked on the show till much later -- and then worked my way backwards! -lis

Quite true. I mean, as big a fan as I am, even I can admit that not every episode was stellar. :-)

I enjoyed SPN from the first episode, but I don't really think it came into it's stride until midway through the first season. Then man, it's been a steamroller since then!
