Ah, another Monday
Apr. 28th, 2008 01:01 pmMy god, it's a non-Supernatural or Sentinel icon! LOL!
And why did I make a Charles "Trip" Tucker icon? Because I've been mainlining Enterprise episodes for days. :-)
See, I've never been a Star Trek fan. Never watched the original series or Next Generation or Voyager or DS9. But then I found out that Scott Bakula was going to be in Enterprise, and I really like him, so I decided to give it a shot. And totally fell in love with the series and quickly threw Scott Bakula over for Connor Trinneer! LOL!
Been wanting the DVD sets for ages but they've never been below $99.00 wherever I looked. Then suddenly out of the blue, Amazon had them for only $35.00!! I couldn't believe my eyes and quickly ordered all four seasons. They arrived last week and all I've done is watch the first season eps whenever I had the chance.
Now I need to find me some Trip/Archer slash, ASAP! :-)
Or even Trip/Malcom, as Shuttlepod One is one of my favorite eps from first season and I could totally see those two getting into a relationship after that episode. Which had much too abrupt of an ending, IMO. I wanted to see Archer and the crew finding Trip and Malcom, unconscious in the pod, not certain if they were still alive. I was cheated out of angst there! *g*
I've never been one to like het pairings on a show, (with the exception of Mulder/Scully, which will always be my het OTP) simply because their relationship becomes the focus of the show instead of the plot of the episode. Anyway, I couldn't help but really like the relationship between Trip and T'Pol, which had sexual tension from like, the very first episode. It was a pairing you'd never think would work, but I thought the writers did a really good job with it.
So yeah, I was kinda planted in front of the TV this weekend, where I also found the time to finally watch Ghostfacers.
I wish I could've enjoyed Ghostfacers like so many of you did. It just didn't feel like an ep of SPN to me. Parts were funny, yeah, like the bleeped cursing (hee!) but the camera stuff gave me a headache and I just really wanted more Sam and Dean in it.
I understand why they did this ep, since it was already written before the writer's strike, but it would've fit better before the strike, since I was hoping for a better ep to come back to after all these months.
And the best part from the script sides never made it into the episode, where Dean talks about John, so that was a total bummer for me. :-( If you don't know what was in the sides, it's a conversation between Dean and Spruce. Instead of Spruce asking Dean about the "two months" comment he heard, it goes like this:
SPRUCE: What did you mean back there? When you were fighting with Sam?
DEAN: What--?
SPRUCE: Just curious. You were arguing about why you were here--
DEAN: Morton House...Man, my dad used to talk about this place like it was Mount Everest. He tried once, you know. To make it through the night.
SPRUCE: Still don't get why you--
DEAN: Look. I got -- I'm not--For reasons I won't go into, I--I'm not gonna be around much longer. I just wanted to try this once before I... Morton House. This was the big one, you know?
SPRUCE: Yeah, I know.
I just really, really liked this conversation and it got cut. [sigh]
So yeah, it was an interesting experiment, but it kinda fell flat for me. But the preview for this week looks awesome! :-)

Date: 2008-04-29 03:15 pm (UTC)I really do think I would've enjoyed it more if it'd been shown earlier on in the season. There was just so much build up, coming back from the strike, finally, and it just didn't live up to my expectations.

Well the promo looked great and very not funny. :-)

Date: 2008-04-28 06:56 pm (UTC)I'm glad I didn't read the sides for Ghostfacers because I would've been dissapointed too.

Date: 2008-04-29 03:17 pm (UTC)Boy, I certainly hope so! Especially with the surprise "voice over" guest. Yay!
I'm glad I didn't read the sides for Ghostfacers because I would've been dissapointed too
Yeah, usually the sides are quite close to what actually airs so to have that whole conversation cut was a real bummer. :-(

Date: 2008-04-29 03:19 pm (UTC)Oooh, yeah. I love the tone of voice Dean uses when he's desperate to find his brother.

That's ok, I'm a spoiler-holic and I was still disappointed, too. :-)

Date: 2008-04-28 08:31 pm (UTC)I did like Jolene Blalock; she put a sexy little purr/growl on her lines that was very Vulcan. And I did love Connor Trinneer; he was the first ST Mpreg, yay! And I thought his best ep (next to "SO") was "Cogenitor," which was a very strong script; that was the problem for me with the show, I thought the writing was kind of inferior.
"GF" didn't have Rubela, so of course I have to give it a thumbs up for that(hee). But the timing for it was wrong. If it hadn't been for the strike I think it might have gone over better, and if those sides had been left in. But the birthday party did creep me out--just like that Lesley Gore song will. Thanks, K.
Can't wait for next week--it's going to be a real 'turn out the lights' ep. And it's going to make me cry.

Date: 2008-04-29 04:02 pm (UTC)I loved the theme! Well, until the later seasons when they changed it to some kind of fast paced dance tune. Grrr...
But I HATED Archer, worse than Kirk, which is saying something.
Wow, tell me how you really feel! LOL! I never actively hated Archer, it was just that Trip became a much more interesting character to me.
K/S? No. Just...no
Wow, you're the first I've ever heard say that! Especially since K/S is so revered as being the first ever written slash. Personally, since I'm not a Trekkie, I've never read any so I can't tell ya if I agree with you or not. :-)
Connor Trinneer; he was the first ST Mpreg
LOL! Yes! I just watched that one the other day. When he starts growing the nipples on his arm and has to wear civilian clothes because he's "showing" I nearly died. *g*
And I thought his best ep (next to "SO") was "Cogenitor,
Oh my god, yes. That ep nearly broke my heart and Connor was amazing.
I thought the writing was kind of inferior.
I agree with you about that for the first two seasons. By the time season four rolled around I thought they were hitting their stride, but too late, since they got canceled.
But the timing for it was wrong. If it hadn't been for the strike I think it might have gone over better,
That's my thought as well. There was just so much build up and anticipation with all these months being off the air that it just didn't live up to my expectations.
and if those sides had been left in
Yes!! Why did they take that scene out??
Can't wait for next week--it's going to be a real 'turn out the lights' ep. And it's going to make me cry.
Oh man, tell me about it. I can't wait!

Date: 2008-04-29 08:06 pm (UTC)Yep, that's exactly what happened with me as well. I mean, I never disliked Archer, but Trip was a much more interesting character to me. Not to mention he was damn good looking! LOL!
But Trip? Loved loved loved him from the beginning! And I think I stayed with the show as long as I did simply for him.
Me, too. :-)

Date: 2008-04-28 09:03 pm (UTC)...
That's so wrong I don't even know where to begin.
I liked GF. I love the way they mixed comedy with horror and pathos. I always love it when they show the Boys through the eyes of other people. And we just knew Dean swore like a truck driver!

Date: 2008-04-29 08:08 pm (UTC)I know, between this and me not liking horror movies, what ARE you going to do with me? ;-)
I liked GF. I love the way they mixed comedy with horror and pathos
I just wish it'd been shown earlier in the season. I know I would've liked it more. I guess after all these months of not seeing the boys I wanted an amazing episode to come back with and it just didn't live up to my expectations. :-(
And we just knew Dean swore like a truck driver!
LOL! That was the BEST! And him giving the camera the finger. Ha!

Date: 2008-04-28 10:26 pm (UTC)I wasn't disappointed with the epi for one reason and one reason alone... I f*ing HATED The Blair witch project. And When Jensen said it was kinda like that I thought I'd hate this episode too... but the cameras weren't so much into people's faces, Jensen looks like a god under bluish light, and the Impala and classic rock is OTP. So my expectations were actually exceeded, unlike most people's :)

Date: 2008-04-29 08:22 pm (UTC)I don't think he would've said it to Spruce, but I could see him saying it to Maggie, if she would've asked.
So my expectations were actually exceeded, unlike most people's :)
I'm glad!

Date: 2008-04-29 12:21 am (UTC)It just didn't feel like an ep of SPN to me.
Because it was an episode of Ghostfacers, not SPN!

Date: 2008-04-29 08:11 pm (UTC)I've never read any K/S. EVER.
Because it was an episode of Ghostfacers, not SPN!
No wonder I didn't like it! Harry and Ed are kinda cool, but they ain't got NOTHIN' on the sexy, kick-ass Winchesters. Ha!

Date: 2008-04-29 10:16 am (UTC)I loved this ep though.

Date: 2008-04-29 08:16 pm (UTC)I know! Time's getting short for Dean and I want to know what's going on inside his head, and this was a little glimpse - why they were there, the importance of it for Dean. So it was really disappointing that it was cut. :-(

Date: 2008-04-30 02:03 am (UTC)Love him!
Hubbya was really interested in watching enterprise, I wasn't too sure, but we really liked it! And who could NOT love Trip!
And as for the theme song - we bought the soundtrack just for that song! *hee* And the later version did suck!
Which season was the ep when they MPREG'ed him?
Everything I wanna say about Ghostfacers is here There is definite theme of "I want more Sam and Dean", but I enjoyed it.
I WISH that conversation had been included though! Damn! That would have been awesome! And now I wanna know what happened when John tried to make it through a night at the Morton House!

Date: 2008-05-01 01:14 am (UTC)It got off to a rocky start for me, writing wise, but it really hit it's stride third season and then poof! One more year and it was gone. And yeah, with that little bit of a southern accent, how could you not fall head over heels for Trip? :-)
And the later version did suck!
I hated that they got so much flack over the song. I thought it was beautiful! Then to speed it up like that was just stupid.
Which season was the ep when they MPREG'ed him?
The very FIRST season! LOL! They didn't waste any time breaking the MPREG taboo. Ha!
Everything I wanna say about Ghostfacers is here
Oh cool! Gotta go read!
And now I wanna know what happened when John tried to make it through a night at the Morton House!
That's exactly what I wanna know! I mean, with the whole "Grand Canyon" comment it makes more sense if this conversation HAD been included, to give meaning to WHY Dean wanted to be there. Bah! Why couldn't they have left it? :-(

Date: 2008-05-06 11:41 pm (UTC)I am glad you did not care for Ghostfacers much either. Somehow I feel better. ;-P

Date: 2008-05-07 01:25 am (UTC)I'm probably the only person who hasn't seen Thelma and Louise *g* so I'm not sure. I thought it was in reference to Dean talking about the Grand Canyon at the end of Croatoan.
I am glad you did not care for Ghostfacers much either. Somehow I feel better.

Date: 2008-05-07 01:36 am (UTC)So that's what made me think of it during Ghostfacers - Dean equating spending the night at the Morton house to the Grand Canyon - something he's always wanted to do.
