So yesterday, talking about disc 3 of the SPN season 1 DVD set and how my favorite episodes are on there got me thinking, so I thought I'd do a poll...

If you were stranded on a desert island and could only bring ONE episode of Supernatural from season 1 with you, which one would it be?

What's the ONE episode you couldn't live without, that you've worn out watching on your DVD set? The one you know all the dialogue to? The one that you use to pimp all your friends with, to get them to watch the show?

Let me see your votes and let me see your comments, too, if you'd like, on why you picked what you did. I'm always interested in why people like one particular episode over all the rest.

Ok, enough yammering from me. Get voting!

Oh for me it would have to be Dead Mans Blood.Love that episode...'you were just pissed off you couldnt control me anymore!' The episode had it all.... and the argument between Sam and John was awesome, and poor Dean caught in the middle.

Excellent choice! That was the first time we saw all three Winchesters really interacting with one another, and boy was it explosive. But it gave a good look into their family dynamic and what it was like before Sam left.

Nightmare, because it was the first real mytharc ep. That was the ep that really got me interested in the show, with Sam and the notion of more psychic kids out there. Plus the awesome moment in the closet with the telekinesis, which has never come back and I miss it goddamnit.

Excellent choice! I really enjoyed Nightmare as well. I was really scared for Sammy, with the visions, not knowing what was happening to him. And then seeing Max, what Sam might become...yeah, great episode!

which has never come back and I miss it goddamnit.

God, me, too!! I've always hated that it made ONE appearance. Grrr...

All great choices! Provenance was great. I loved Sarah and I loved Dean trying to play matchmaker. There were so many really good lines in that one and the BEST hotel room EVER! LOL!

And Hell House is still my favorite funny episode, simply because it was just Sam and Dean being brother and fooling with one another. :-)

Oh, man, difficult - nearly impossible! - choice. I've always loved Nightmare, for my hurt!Sam kink, and The Benders for my Sammy in a cage! kink...but Home was the very first "Dean breaks down" episode, and it showed his desperation for saving Sam, not once but twice, and it had Mary in it...so...I think I'd have to say "Home" would be my deserted island companion episode...provided there was some secret village with electricity going to it (like on Lost) so I could watch it! LOL...

Home definitely rocks. I remember when Dean makes that phone call to John and starts to tear up - I was shocked! Up until that point all we'd seen was tough, smart ass Dean and here he was, nearly crying. I think I really fell in love with Dean at that point, knowing there were more layers to him than he let on.

provided there was some secret village with electricity going to it (like on Lost) so I could watch it!

LOL! I guess I should've mentioned that!

I have a special place in my libidoheart for evil, growlyvoiced John. Gives me shivers just thinking about him lol.

Yep, gotta go with "Devil's Trap".

Hehe, I'll put you out of your misery and tell you I'm the one that voted for Bugs....don't throw stuff the rest of you, yeah I agree it has it's terrible plot and pathetic spiders, but it has so much more for me and I only had a love fest post for Bugs over in my journal the other day with a list of stuff but I'll be quick over here.

I'm a visual fan through and through and I ADORE this one, I vid the shit out of it, Sam's gorgeous smile, how he grabs Dean as he reaches up to close the garage door, the ass pat...heck don't watch it for the plot although there are some terrific family Winchester reveals in this one, just watch it for the pretty...

Hey, I really like Bugs, too! Not too long ago I had a fairly long post here all about it, encouraging people to give it a shot and not automatically discount it because of the plastic spiders. :-) It really does have a LOT of good family stuff in there that people forget about.

And yes, the pretty does abound in this ep, doesn't it? :-)

Okay, that was hard. I got into the show just last August and watched S1 in like- three days, and haven't watched the whole thing again yet.

My favorite episode is Scarecrow, likely because I have a thing (but not in the dirty way!) for evil, animated, life-sucking scarecrows. I liked the play between the brothers, especially when it's related to the eps before and after. Chick-flix moments and anti chick-flix moments abound, and Dean is adorable trying to work the case on his own.

But, if I were going to try to pimp the show to someone else, I would show them Something Wicked. The boys are together for the whole episode and work together well. There's funny bits ->

Michael: King or two queens?
Dean: (asking for a room) Two queens
Michael (looks at Sam waiting outside): Yeah, I bet.
Dean: What'd you say?
Michael: Nice car.

But it's also an emotional look at the relationship between Sam and Dean. It mentions John, and kinda wraps up the idea of the entire series with one big manly bow.

Ooh, Scarecrow and Something Wicked. Nice pics! Scarecrow is actually my second favorite of the season, for exactly the reasons you list. Well, except for having a thing for life-sucking scarecrows. *g*

Oh My God, That Was An Awesome Season!

Grrrrr, can't decide!

I'll go with my first thought before I looked at the list - Shadow.

When John first turns around, and the hugs, and (okay this is kinda shallow) Meg getting all sexy on a tied up Sammy, and the end with John and Sam wanting to stay together (I love John's "You boys are beat to hell" aww concerned Daddy!) and Dean having to convince them they should separate, poor Dean. Oh, I forgot the Drama Dork reference! Aww, Dean went to see Sammy's play! Oh and Dean connecting the blood spots was very cool! And the HUGS! And, of course, it's in CHICAGO! Man! That was an excellent episode!

Okay I just HAD to get the DVD out and watch it again. *LOL* I forgot about Meg laying into Dean and Dean calling Sam a little pervert! and "Dude, I gotta talk to you"! But I TOTALLY forgot the "I want us to be a Family again" talk!!!!

Yeah, Shadow, definitely Shadow!

Ok, wait, why am I seeing zero votes for Shadow, then?? Were you so excited to leave a comment you forgot to vote? LOL!

Love your reasons for picking it! I enjoyed that one, too, if for no other reason than it was the long awaited reunion between father and sons.

Dean's "family" talk nearly broke me because of Sam's answer. Family is everything to Dean and Sam's answer really tore him up.

And Meg? Now THAT'S how a demon chick should be played! Not that wanna be Ruby.

Oh, let's not forget the whole, "try thinking with your upstairs brain, Dean." LOL!

HELL HOUSE.

it used to be provenence, way way back in the day, but hell house is timeless.
i mean, the music. those blue oyster cult songs are still considered some of the best on the show, for perfect connection and dean singing, of course.
then there's the shirtless jared...and my brain plopping out on the floor. (if i keep staring at the towel long enough, it will fall down. i just know it.)
and the bloopers...the guy at the window saying "here you go jensen," the camera guy who accidentally got in the way...
CLASSIC.

hell house all the way.

UGH! That was hard. It was either Home or Faith. Home gives some of the background of the show. The how and why of the hunting. And it has John *sigh*

Three cheers for Faith! Your reasons are exactly why Faith is #1 for me as well. I mean, I love that Sam will NOT let his brother die and then his angst over HOW Dean got saved and then Dean's angst over it, too...yeah, that's some damn good stuff there. Then there's Dean just standing there at the end with the Reaper. I fully believe that he wanted to die there, to put things back in balance over his guilt for living at the expense of another's death and not being able to save Layla. Speaking of Layla, if I were to write a het pairing in this fandom, Dean/Layla would be it. I thought they just clicked beautifully together. :-)

For me it has to be Phantom Traveler.
When I first saw this episode I remember loving everything about it. The scenery, the locations, the scenes in the car, the brotherly banter.
I especially like it when we first see Dean asleep on his bed then waking up as Sam comes in, when they are posing Homeland Security officers as to gain entry to the wreckage of the aircraft and the Ozzy Osbourne song Paranoid just perfects the scene, Dean's fear at flying was hilarius and then at the end when they both listen to their Dad's voicemail message and then drive off into the distance. Heaven.

I do love the angst and the guilt that abounds in that episode - Sam desperate to save Dean, then finds out the high price of his actions. So, I voted for the Pilot ep, because it's the one that got all of my friends hooked, but my other personal favorites are Dead in the Water and Faith.

It's waaay too hard to choose just one.

Aside from that, the episode I've seen the most times is Hell House, because I'm going through the series with a group of people, and they kept getting ahead of each other, so I ended up watching that episode around 8 times.
