Thinkin' about Jensen, Jared, fanfic and music...

Let's start off our day in a happy place, shall we? :-)





That's got to be my favorite photo of the two of them. I mean, SPN had just gotten started when this was taken and you can already see that close friendship between them.

I love Jensen's expression, like, "Yeah, this is my boy Jared." and Jared's all, "Dude, me and you - we're gonna be awesome together."

So speaking of Jensen and Jared (and when am I not, eh?) I feel the need to get a few things off my chest regarding things I see happening more and more often in RPS fic that just grates on my every nerve...

1.) Jensen and Jared DO NOT LIVE IN THEIR TRAILERS ON THE STUDIO LOT!

I swear to god, if I see that one more time I'm gonna scream. People, please - Jared has a house in Vancouver and Jensen has an apartment. Are we clear on that now? Okay, good. Moving on...

2.) Eric does NOT live in Vancouver and is not on the set EVERY SINGLE DAY!

Eric lives and works down in Los Angeles and is OCCASIONALLY up in Vancouver if he happens to be directing an episode or such.

I don't know why those two things get to me so much, but they do. Probably because of the lack of simple research that people are just too lazy to do. I mean, just ask! There are thousands of us out here that can easily answer questions like that and would be happy to do so.

One last thing - am I the only one who prefers "Jare" over "Jay" in fanfic, when shortening Jared's name? I see "Jay" about 90% of the time and it just sounds awkward to me for some reason. [shrug]

Ok, I lied. One more thing. *g* I was listening to Whitesnake this morning during my 6:30 am workout on the treadmill and I was like, "why hasn't this band been on Supernatural yet?" We've had Def Leppard and Poison (my two favorite 80's bands), so why not Whitesnake? (And yes, my personal music collection consists of the greatest hits of mullet rock *bg*)

So what about YOU? Is there a band and/or song that you'd just love to see on Supernatural? Tell me!

I think the reason most people shorten it to "Jay" is because many eyewitnesses have heard Jensen call Jared "Jay". I actually think it's "J". Jensen being the cool hipster that he is.

I also read a report (and of course, can't for the life of me remember where now - it may have been on Anetka's LJ actually - where Jensen was trying to get Jared's attention, and he called him "Jay" several times. But I also think it's "J" as in "J-Dog" like the kids are calling each other these days. Of course, if I've heard about it, it probably was what the kids were calling each other three years ago. *sigh*

As for music? The list is too long to mention - there's a lot of awesome classic rock, after all - but the big names I haven't heard yet are The Eagles and Tom Petty. Would love to hear Led Zepplin, but no one can get the rights, so we'll have to settle for just episode titles.

Actually I don't like their names shortened at all. Jensen is Jensen and Jared is Jared and that's that for me. ;)

I just had to come back to this...I listened to the IMTOD commentary yesterday, and about 12 mins in, when Sam and John are fighting in the hospital, I think I hear Jared say "Jense" instead of Jensen. I'm not completely sure but it made me remember this post of yours ;)

Well, since I stopped watching it after last season as well, I don't know what they've used...but I would think anything with Ozzy Osbourne (yes, even Sabbath, because while it may be more closely linked to the 70s that band's music is -- like Zeppelin -- the Holy of the Holies to anyone into metal). Have they ever used Judas Priest, for that matter? For sillier eps, I'd definitely head for my Twisted Sister and Quiet Riot tapes. "CUM ON, Sammy, FEEL THE NOIZE!" :D

I think it irritates me more when people shorten Jensen to "Jen" or "Jennie". I know it probably happens, but it seems less like shortening the name and more like making Jensen more feminine or younger or something.

As for music, I'd love to hear them use everything mentioned above, plus "I Wanna Rock'n'Roll All Night" (although I didn't really like Kiss all that much, I loved that song). I also loved Lynyrd Skynrd and BTO, although I'm not sure if any of their songs really would fit. I'd love to hear "The Boys are Back in Town" by Thin Lizzy someday.
If I thought about it longer, I'd probably come up with a ton of other things, but...I'm tired! :)

As for nicknames, the only time we have heard with our own ears about nicknames is when someone asked Jensen that at either Asylum or Comic Con, can't recall. He said that he calls Jared, 'Jarhead' and Jared calls Jensen 'J-Dog' - so it's the other way around than what is posted in some comments ;-)
Jensen also said that Kim Manners has other nicknames for Jared such as 'Moron' and 'Sasquatch' - oh that Kim, lol.

Right, I remember that as well and they both sound so odd to me! I just can't picture Jensen calling Jared "Jarhead" for some reason!
