Supernatural vs. Sentinel - cast your vote!

First, I want to thank all you guys who cast your vote in my last poll. Fifty-three of you (and many of you lurkers!) spoke up and now I know that my flist is filled with folks who love smut as much as I do, as Wincest and RPS were the winners with a tie vote. :-)

I've been thinking about Sentinel lately, as Richard Burgi has been guest starring on Las Vegas for the past several weeks. So for today's poll, let's see who and what is your favorite, between Supernatural and Sentinel. And if you don't know what Sentinel is, why not?? Get yourself to your nearest Best Buy and pick up Season 1 on DVD. You won't be disappointed. TS was truly my first real fandom and Jim and Blair will always have a special place in my heart.

I picked Jim, mostly because I think that Jim has a chance for a happy normal life and I'm just not sure that Dean will ever have that chance. Also....I've been hugged and kissed by Richard Burgi, so I think I'm kind of bound to him for life. Right? ;-)

The Sentinel, good old times :) I used to adore the series and the fanfiction too. But then, all the fics seemed to be about Jim's abilities. Over and over again. And they should be since it's the point of the series. But I think that SPN has a much greater potential for fanfics - it ranges from family issues to slow-dancing aliens :D There was one thing I adored about TS though - the boys living together and quite enjoying it too.

But there are some similarities between TS and SPN: Blair always saved Jim and paid for it. Just like Dean always saves Sam and all his good deeds get punished. The poor poor boys.

Hey, good point! I never really thought about it like that. But yeah, with Sam and Dean constantly traveling the country, the story potentials are endless, moreso than everything taking place in Cascade.

Jim's truck for me. Hee! I have a hayseed truck; a small Nissan that's... almost 13 years old. If I don't wreck it, I'll be driving it until a hybrid is a viable option.

Ah, no wonder you voted for it! :-) For me, it's all about the F-150. Man, I just loved that truck! I was very sad to see it's demise. :-(

I'm so bad about recognizing vehicles. I can't tell Blair's Corvair from the Volvo, or Jim's 150 from the Expedition. Vehicles fall into several categories for me -- cars, SUVs, vans (sometimes), and pickups. So Blair's two cars blend together, and Jim's first two whatevers blend together; the pickup is the only one I'm certain about.

My best friend's hubby is a mechanic; he despairs at my ignorance.

You know, I'm not a car person until it comes to my favorite TV shows. I think it started with Starsky and Hutch and that awesome Torino. :-) So the only vehicles I can identify are what my fictional characters drive! Ha!

I do know the Torino, of course. But if it wasn't striped candy-apple red, I wouldn't recognize the car underneath.

OTOH, if I watched TV shows more with my eyes than my ears, I might recognize cars, guns -- and people! -- a lot more easily. *g* (Although I frequently recognize guest characters' voices, if not their faces.)

Can you IMAGINE how f-ed up "Cypher" would have been if that dude had actually been a SHAPESHIFTER?!

And Dean would have been TONS better off if he'd gone to see Blair in 'Scarecrow' instead of Cigarette-Smoking Man! DUH!

Wandered over here from spnnewsletter. Hmm, I like TS and I love the fic, but it just doesn't compare to SPN. Of course it helps that the Winchester brothers are just smokin' HOT. *evil grin*

For female characters, I really do like the SPN ones -- especially the Jessica that fandom has fleshed out -- but for canon obviously Megan has way more screen time and character development. But no Ellen or Jo?

I think it's because SPN has a lot more possibilities than TS - because Jim and Blair are based in Cascade and the Winchesters can travel anywhere they want. Opens up a lot more story lines.

I find it interesting that all three parents that I listed are extremely disfunctional in terms of raising their child - and all were single parents, too. Looks like none of our characters had it easy as kids!
