It's THURSDAY, people! Time for NEW SUPERNATURAL! OMGYAY! Bring on the haunted inn and Sammy gettin' drunk. Ha!
As if that's not special enough, today is also the One Year Anniversary of my LJ. And it's all
charityflint's fault! LOL!
We'd both been watching SPN since the pilot, but it wasn't until last Christmas, when WB ran that marathon of episodes all week long that we both suddenly fell into our [ahem] obsession with it. Especially Charity. :-) Next thing I know, she's sending me links to fanfic she's found on LJ (she'd had an account for quite some time). And I had to laugh, because the note she sent along with the link to this one person's journal said something along the lines of: "Read these first two, they're really good, but stay away from the third one - it's SLASH, with Sam and Dean??" She was horrified. *g*
So I mean, c'mon, when someone tells you "don't look!" what's the first thing you're gonna do?
Yep. I looked.
And holy cow it's been Wincest all the way for me ever since! LOL! So thank you, my friend, for sending me straight to Special Hell. :-)
It wasn't long after that that I wrote my first SPN story, The Choice, but I had no way of posting it because I didn't have an LJ. So one evening Charity came over and helped me get all set up.
And now here I am, a year later, never having thought I'd actually use my LJ for anything other than posting fic. Ha! Boy, was I wrong. :-)
I haven't been an active part of a fandom since my days in Sentinel, and that's over 10 years now, so SPN was like a breath of fresh air to me, and I've been like a kid in a candy shop for two years now. Let's hope it continues for many, many more years!
Happy Supernatural Thursday, everyone!

Date: 2007-01-18 03:59 pm (UTC)I'm glad your friend told you not to read Wincest! Because, as you said, when someone says "don't do it", of course you'll do it. And now I have all this Wincest paradise to read. *is a happy camper*
And YAY for Superantural tonight! Though I have to wait till tomorrow to download and see... well, better than waiting till WB passes it here. *rolls eyes*
*hugs*

Date: 2007-01-21 09:13 pm (UTC)And yeah, I razz my friend about the "don't look" thing all the time. I blame my obsession with wincest totally on her. :-)
So did you get to see Playthings??

And THANK GOD you two discover Supernatural - without you, I never would have found it!
And you never would have slid into the Special Hell that is RPS or the SuperSpecial Hell that is Wincest!

Date: 2007-01-21 09:17 pm (UTC)And we are VERY glad that we were able to introduce you to the Winchester boys. We've all had some awesome discussions!
Yep, my ticket's been punched twice with RPS and Wincest and I couldn't be happier! LOL!

Date: 2007-01-18 07:29 pm (UTC)Happy Anniversary--and so many of them. It seems like SN slammed into everyone around this time of year. "Skin" owned me but I went officially insane last January.

Date: 2007-01-19 05:53 am (UTC)Happy Anniversary, Barb! I've certainly enjoyed your LJ over the past year and look forward to more!
I think we discussed this before, but the Christmas marathon was the beginning of my obsession also - except that I had not been watching the show before then. I had judged it as being just another WB teenage drama (I did not have your perspective of having seen Jensen in other shows!). Angie kept trying to get me to watch, I kept saying I just didn't have time. Finally, at Christmas, I did - I saw they were having a marathon and, since everything else was a rerun anyway, thought I would give it a try. Much to my absolute shock, I loved the show and fell in love with Sam and Dean almost immediately. I found someone who made a DVD for me of the episodes I had missed, and the rest is history. There's no turning back now.
God, can you believe it's been 10 years? And I also hope it continues for many more years. At least we have the experience from our last fandom to help us if the CW does anything really stupid with the show. An SPN News Group maybe? Just kidding - I feel really good about Supernatural. It's going to be around for a long time!
Thanks, Barb, for all the great times in LJ land, etc.!

Date: 2007-01-21 08:45 pm (UTC)Awww, thanks, Deborah! I'm so glad that you found my LJ. We've had some great discussions! I'm SO glad that XMas marathon reeled you in. :-)
And no, I can't believe we've been playing in TS-land for 10 years now. Wow!
You're right, though, just let CW try and cancel SPN. We TS'ers know exactly how to hit 'em right back! Can you say "overloaded phones" and "newspaper ads"? Ha!
