I was a bookworm slug all weekend and proud of it! :-)

It was so bitterly, bitterly cold out that I'm glad that I didn't have to leave the house. I'd just gotten three books from Amazon thanks to a gift card I got for my birthday, plus we had a free three day preview of Showtime. Books and movies - I was a happy camper!

First book I read was The Thousand Dollar Tan Line, which is a Veronica Mars mystery. It takes place shortly after the movie. It was a fast read but I enjoyed it. I only wish that Logan had been in it much more.

Next book I read was The Giver. I had just seen the movie about a month ago and absolutely loved it. But I thought that the movie was a bit short with kind of an ambiguous ending. I was hoping that the book would be more detailed. Well I couldn't have been more wrong! I rarely, if EVER say that a movie is better than a book, but this was definitely the case. The book was horrible!! I think they changed about 85% of it when they made the movie and made it SO much better. I'm astounded the book won so many awards when it was first published. The ending of it was even more vague than the movie and much more depressing, IMO, making you think that possibly both boys die of hypothermia. Glad I only paid $5.00 for the book! Have any of you read the book and seen the movie? I'd love to hear your thoughts.

I also got Allegiant, the third and final book in the Divergent series. Didn't get a chance to start that one, though. I already know how it ends, but I wanted to read it before the next movie comes out. I'm hopeful that since they changed quite a bit of Insurgent that perhaps they're going to have a much better ending for Allegiant. I've got my fingers crossed because I really enjoyed the first two books and movies.

John and I started watching Time Trax, which I got on DVD for my birthday. We loved that show but we really had to laugh at how bad the special effects were back in 1993! Still love me some Dale Midkiff, though!

Didn't do any writing on my ebook but did think up a solution to two problems I was having with the storyline, so I count that as being productive. :-)

So that was about it for me. Kind of a boring weekend but relaxing. And I was warm and out of the sub zero temperatures!

How was YOUR weekend?

Sounds like a nice weekend.
I stayed in too. It was freezing here and I didn't want to go out if I didn't have to, lol!
I did some housework and made it my mission to eat the left over Christmas chocolate. I did feel sick by the end of it, lol!
I did some of the mosaic I got for Christmas and read some of the book Winter's Bone.
I saw a commercial for the new X-Files on my TV and I whooped for joy! :D
And I discovered a song called Can't Pretend by Tom Odell that I can't stop listening to.

I've been meaning to check out Time Trax for a while. Love Dale Midkiff too. It's been so hot here I've been doing a lot of what you did and just staying indoors in the a/c with books and Netflix. Another scorcher today sadly but I'm taking my grandson to the library anyway.
