I've been struggling with writing my new ebook about a cop and an investigative reporter so today I decided to take a step back and take a break from it and instead start up a new fanfic story - for Strike Back. I cranked out 3,000 words today! And I'm only halfway done! Feels good to be back in the fanfic world. Haven't written any fic in ages. I think Enterprise a year ago was my last story.

It's been nice to have the words just flow again. I think by the time I'm finished with this story I'll have my ebook mojo back again. Makes me glad I walked away for a bit instead of trying to force the words to come.

Congrats, Barb. :) That's such exciting news. Good luck with finishing it and getting back to work on the ebook.

Aww, thanks, Patt! I didn't realize how much I missed writing fanfic until I started this story. Taking this break has worked out well for me. I think when I finish my fanfic and go back to the ebook I'll look at it with fresh eyes.

Woo Hoo! Can't wait to read it! Love that show and there is so little fanfic out there for it. Really looking forward to it and glad you're back in the ring!

Good luck on your book too!

Yay! I love my Strike Back fans on my f-list! I know what you mean about the lack of fic. I've only read a couple, off AO3. Haven't gone looking in awhile there, though. I hope I'm inspired to write another one. :-)

I'm hoping to have this one posted on Monday, fingers crossed.

Sometimes the only answer when you're struggling with something (for whatever reason) is to start something new. (I can think of one time I was struggling with five pieces of fanfic, and they all resolved themselves at about the same time after I started a sixth.)

Yep, and it's worked out well for me. I think when I finish my fanfic and go back to the ebook I'll look at it with fresh eyes.

LOL! Five at once?? I don't think I could keep all the plots straight!

:-) And with the new one I'd started, that made six... I did a lot of rereading of the ones I'd stuck on to remind myself of the plots, every time I tried to do some work on any one of them.

Sounds as if you are really moving on your fanfic. I don't know that fandom or show. I pretty much only followed two or three fandoms at a time. It seems that most people now pursue a number of them.

Up to 5,000 words now and still going strong! I hope to be finished on Monday. Strike Back is kind of obscure, since it only aired in the UK and then here in the States on Cinemax. So I'm not surprised you don't know it. :-)

Yeah, I can only juggle a couple of fandoms at a time, and be seriously involved with them. Others I just enjoy peripherally, not active on line or anything.

I can only write in one fandom at a time, but I've only really been deeply into two - Original Trek and Sentinel - and marginally into Professionals. Other shows - there have been one or two I've liked but not felt any urge to write.

Interestingly, I'm in the UK and never heard of Strike Back. But as I get older I find I'm watching fewer and fewer dramas, and not even as many documentaries as I used to. Not even rewatching the ones I write, either... but I always did prefer reading and forming my own mental pictures to watching something presented on a screen.

Yep, same here - I find it hard to write in multiple fandoms. Pulled it off briefly with X-Files and Sentinel. There have been many shows I've been into that I never wrote fic for.

Yeah, Strike Back originally started in the UK with Andrew Lincoln and Richard Armitage. It only lasted one season. Then Cinemax picked it up in combination with Sky for a spin off with new characters, but based on the same premise. It always aired in the UK first and we got it in the States a few months later.

Please tell me you are going to check out Philip Winchester and Sullivan Stapleton's new shows. Its funny that the boys each ended up with new shows where they are each the lead and they are on the same network! Just watched Sullivan's show Blindspot last night and it's a cool concept. He plays another American but every now and then his accent slips out (more so than it did on Strike Back). Looking forward to Philip's show tomorrow night.

Now off to read your new Strike Back story!

Oh my gosh yes of course I’m checking out Blindspot and The Player! I, too, had to laugh when both guys made the jump from cable to network TV only to end up on the same network! What are the chances?? Very happy for each of them that they already have new shows.

I really liked Blindspot. Very cool idea. With the gunfights and such I kept thinking that Sully must’ve felt very much at home, like he never left Strike Back. :-) But it was so weird not seeing Philip with him! And I’m sure I’ll be thinking the same thing when I watch Philip’s show tonight, without Sully with him. Something tells me that The Player isn’t going to last. Just a gut feeling. Maybe since they’re both on NBC, Philip can get a part on Blindspot as another FBI agent. :-)

Hope you enjoyed my story!

Wow - I think we share brain cells because I too feel as though The Player isn't going to last either. Looking forward to watching it tonight (didn't have time last night!) Sully (on both this season of Strike Back and on his new show) seems to be a little slower and some of his words are slurred when he talks more than two sentences. I think the accident he suffered last year had a lasting effect on him. I wish both of them well.

I hope to get to your Strike Back story today - Haven't had time to set aside to read! Grrr...

So I watched The Player yesterday. As I feared, it’s not exactly ground breaking TV, but damn, watching Philip Winchester in action again is enough to keep me tuning in every week! So odd not to hear him talk with a British accent. :-) Loved him running down the street in only his boxer shorts. Who me, shallow? ;-)

I agree about Sully and his speech pattern now. And did you notice in this season of SB with his hair so short you can see this odd circular depression on the back of his head? That’s got to be from the accident. I’m just glad he recovered!

Let me know what you think of The Player!

Well, looks like we were both right. The Player didn't last. The network didn't pick it up. Just as I was getting really intrigued by the relationship of Ginny and Cassandra. I'm sad for Philip. I hope he finds another project soon.

Ah, damn. It’s official then, they canceled it? I hadn’t read anything except that it was doing badly in the ratings. I didn’t know it was in the same time slot as How to get Away with Murder. Ugh. I hope they at least show all the ones they’ve filmed so far. Like you, after last week with confirmation Ginny was still alive I want to find out more! I’m so bummed. Especially for Philip.

But hey, they’re setting up that female FBI agent on Blindspot with the gambling problem as a traitor, so NBC can just move Philip in as the new agent when we get rid of her! Now THAT would really make the ratings soar! Let’s keep our fingers crossed. :-)

YES! I like that idea. Just read today that they have only gone with the nine episodes instead of the regular 13. I think the fans have started a campaign to save it. It's up against a tough show plus sports - not great odds for a freshman show.

I have to apologize that I still haven't had a chance to read your SB story. RL is kicking my butt at the moment. I have saved it though to catch up with my reading this weekend - looking forward to reading it!

Drat. Only nine for The Player? I went on John Rogers twitter (who I love for creating Leverage) and saw his depressing post with a photo of the cast and crew saying he had to go and tell all these people they were fired. :-( It was up against How to Get Away with Murder, for crying out loud. They couldn’t try and switch time slots before just dumping it? I really hate network execs.

Ah, no problem with the story! If you do get to read it I hope you enjoy it. I’m about halfway through writing my third one. :-)

Been watching SB from the beginning and really enjoying all of the episodes Sully and Philip did commentary on. Those two absolutely loved working on that show and with each other. So let’s get Philip on Blindspot! :-)
