My star shines bright

Here's my Gold Star I was given yesterday for all of my decorating efforts around the office and for our pot luck lunch conference room. Really nice gals in our Customer Service department to do that for me. It's actually a contest, who gets the most stars at the end of the month, so I really appreciate it. :-)

I'm happy that somewhere out there, people get appreciated for stuff like this. It gives me hope.

At the place I used to work at, they actively discouraged us from decorating for any holiday, and took away every last little morale booster. They even frowned on any personal items too.

WTF?? Seriously?? Nothing like basically sitting in a jail cell for 8 hours a day, looking at bare walls.

I swear people never even thought about decorating until I started working for the company. I didn’t even think to ask if it was okay! Just started putting things up! LOL! Next thing I know, we’re having cubicle decorating contests and all sorts of fun things to liven up the office. I’m such a trendsetter. ;-)

Stupid former bosses complained that I had "excessive personal items", when I had a couple of framed photos and a handful of small tchotckes. The department I was in sucked the soul out of you. Go up to another floor, and it's a holiday extravaganza with almost every cubicle covered in decorations & lights. Head to the floor I was on, maximum security prisons had more cheer. Even though they finally fired me on stupid petty reasons, I'm glad to be out of there. It was so hostile. Now if I can just find a new job. Wish me luck!

Wow, that is insane! While being out of a job sucks, I think getting let go from there was a blessing in disguise! I’ll keep my fingers crossed you find something new (and much better!) very soon.
