I have to admit this wasn't one of my favorite episodes. Not that it was OMG awful or anything. It was just kinda "meh". But there were a few highlights of course:

Our first experience of when Jim's senses go wrong and start shutting down, due to the stress and anxiety of his friend's death. Blair likens it to PTSD.

We find out that Blair is anti-gun and refuses to "go around packing"

As an aside, I really liked the Sentinel soundtrack throughout the entire series. Loved the music in the scene with Jim and Beverly in Jim's loft. Very pretty.

Jim gets caught up in his senses for the first time not even thinking a normal person couldn't see what he did. Which becomes a running theme in the series "You didn't (see, hear, smell) that?" No, Jim, we don't have heightened senses! LOL!

Nice continuity with the patch over the bullet hole in Blair's jacket that he got in the previous episode.

Had to laugh that the guy Jim and Blair go to talk to in his garage will later be brought back to play Jim's cousin Rucker.

Woot! Go Blair busting into Beverly's apartment and saving her!

And we have the first instance of Jim's dropped gun, which becomes the BIGGEST running joke over the next four seasons. He's unable to ever hang on to it! Ever! He needs a bungie cord on that thing!

Tune in tomorrow for The Debt! (aka Jim and Blair start living together!)

Killers is a long way down my list of eps - not sure why, but it's not one I'd rewatch from choice.

Yeah it’s not one that I would purposely pick to watch over and over again but it was nice to revisit it after so many years.

Killers was not an episode I particularly liked either although I think Garett looks cute in it.

I agree that Jim loses his gun more than any cop in any other show I have ever watched. :)

Wonder if it was a deliberate move on the part of the writers/producers to have it as a running joke or just an oversight due to lack of continuity that Jim drops his gun in so many episodes.

Enjoying your comments while you rewatch the series and agree it's a shame that you were unable to post your thoughts/comments on the TS Talk journal for others to enjoy.

I think it was a case of having someone just shoot someone else isn’t very dramatic, compared to a close hand-to-hand fight. But they did it SO many times it just became ridiculous! LOL!

Oh yay! I truly didn’t think anyone was even reading these posts. :-) It’s been nearly a week now. I can’t believe that the mods of that comm don’t ever check their email to see that a post is pending. Or at least have the decency to respond and tell me the post is rejected. This is just rude, being ignored.

I think one of the real problems for me with Killers is the sheer awfulness of Tommy Juno's performance - terrible accent, over-acting, you name it. And the dramatic tension gets lost for me when the writers make Beverley the target. There really isn't much of a connection between her and Jim. They could just have well made it a random little old lady, if they couldn't have made it Blair (and I can see why TPTB may not have wanted that!)

You hit the nail on the head with Tommy’s performance. I just couldn’t connect with him in any way as the bad guy. And then they tried to force a connection between Jim and Beverly. I think that if Killers had been later in the season and Beverly had been on the show at least once before for some trial involving Jim it would’ve made the tension more believable since we knew her. But we never see her again!

I always cringe at Jim's heartfelt scream when Danny is killed. It is so over-acted. LOL! And the dummy in the wheelchair going bumpity-bump! Has some good and some very cheesy moments too.

Oh man I know! I shouldve mentioned the heartfelt scream. I’ve found there are very few men on TV who can do emotion like that believably. The best by far is Jensen Ackles from Supernatural. Though Richard did get much better by the time the end of season three rolled around and he thought Blair was lying there dead.

The wheelchair, yes! LOL! It was like Weekend at Bernie’s “lite”. [snort]
