Wow, I'm so disappointed in these ratings. Yet another outstanding episode and it yet again falls at the bottom of the rankings pile for the season. I mean, the freaking Paris Hilton episode got better ratings than Point of No Return. That's just wrong on so many levels.

Tell me about it. I place a lot of the blame for the dismal ratings on the CW. They gave NO promotion for our 100th ep. Makes me so mad!

True. But it held steady in both A18-49 and A18-34 demo and that's important. The overall numbers not really.

That's definitely good news, I just wish our overall numbers, especially for this ep, had been much higher. :-(

They just don´t deserve that!!!!

I really hope it´ll change when this arch is done and we´re back to the roots as Kripke promised. I think, that´s what people learned to love the years before and many of them wandered off because of this seemingly neverending angel/demon/apocalypse theme, so hopefully they´ll return next season.

Tell me about it! Point of No Return was amazing and to see these dismal ratings hurts. :-(

I think, that´s what people learned to love the years u before and many of them wandered off because of this seemingly neverending angel/demon/apocalypse theme, so hopefully they´ll return next season.

I agree. The ratings started going downhill at the end of last season when the brothers were constantly fighting then on completely different sides as the apocalypse storyline kicked into full swing. And I understand why people left. It was painful to watch. And now to have two years of angels vs. demons is a bit much. I've got my fingers crossed that when SPN gets back to its roots next year and we're done with all of this that we'll get our audience back. [fingers crossed]

It really was and is painful to watch (hopefully they are done with it for good now, but with Kripke...who knows for sure??!!) and honestly, if it hadn´t been for the JJs I might have left the boat as well along the way....but, GOSH, would I have missed a lot of fantastic tv and because I ALWAYS found something to love in EVERY episode, I´m still here and excited and THANKFUL and hope for many more seasons, so we desperately need our happy viewers back.....*crosses fingers together with you*

I nearly left SPN fandom altogether back in season three because I was so disgusted with Ruby and Bela. I despised both of those characters and they were so ruining the show for me I stopped watching if they were in an episode. To this day there are ones I've still never seen from that season.

But I stuck it out and like you, I'm thankful I did, because otherwise I would've missed episodes like Point of No Return and Dark Side of the Moon.

So here's hoping that we can lure some of our old viewers back next season when SPN hits the "reset" button. :-)

I thought the ratings would of been a bit higher for the 100th episode.
Well it's their loss because 5.18 was so awesome!

It will be interesting to see what the numbers are once the DVR numbers are factored in. Plus, someone said on one of the other Forums that there were some pre-emptions last night, too.

It sure was an amazing episode, though. Hopefully it will help them keep momentum.

Yeah, SPN always skews high in the DVR numbers. Doesn't look like there were any pre-emptions, as the final numbers didn't change at all, and they would've dropped pretty significantly once the pre-emptions were figured out of the totals.

I'm just glad we're already renewed, because these last few ratings would've had me worried!

I'm SO pissed that these incredible episodes keep ending up on the bottom of the pile. And the CSI ep that it was up against was STUPID, which makes me even madder.

Once again I think the CW failed in promoting the show. I really wanted to see more interviews and write ups in mags and major entertainment blogs like the Variety write up.

Same news, I know, but when was the last CW series to have 100eps? Smallville?

Oh, the CW completely failed, but that's not a surprise, is it? Grrrr.... I mean, Bones had its 100th ep the same time we did, and I couldn't turn around without seeing a writeup for that. But for us? Hardly even a footnote.  :-(

Yep, Smallville as far as I know is the only other CW show to hit 100, and I watch that show and I don't remember CW doing anything for them, either.

I think a lot of people record Supernatural and watch the shows that have more PR behind them. Plus...those Nielson families don't know what they're missing. I wish the TV industry could come up with a better way of measuring viewers. I think it's skewed.

Nielsen's reporting methods are sorely out of date. They've been unable to keep up with the changing ways of viewing programs and that's just wrong. SPN always scores big on the DVR numbers.
