The End of Time…and the end of Ten
I had to put my Doctor Who viewing to the side for awhile but last night I finally finished watching all of David Tennant's episodes, including the specials.
And okay, I admit it, you guys were right - I did end up liking Donna very much. But it was SO sad, what ended up happening to her. I mean, at least Rose and Martha got to keep their memories of their time spent with the Doctor, but Donna had to have them all erased. Broke my heart.
Like I said, I watched the specials - Planet of the Dead (booooring!) and The Waters of Mars. OMG, I was appalled at the Doctor's behavior at the end of that one! What the hell got into him, thinking he could just take it upon himself to change a "fixed" point in time? My jaw just dropped! I knew that poor astronaut/scientist woman was going to kill herself to put things right. So it was no surprise the Ood showed up at the end of that one, signaling the Doctor's imminent demise.
I'm probably in the minority in this, but I can't stand The Master. He's like this over the top cartoon character that just grates on my every nerve. So I was really not happy to find out he was going to be the main focus of the final two episodes, The End of Time parts 1 and 2. And what is it with the Doctor's fascination with The Master? Always trying to save him and go away with him, etc? There must be some backstory there I'm missing.
And geez, again I was pissed at the Doctor's attitude when he has the choice to save Wilfred (I never expected the knocking to come from him and neither did the Doctor!) or not. He's all, "You're not important, but I am! I have more things I need to do!" WTF? And then he's all, "I've lived too long" and frees Wilfred. Again, WTF with the abrupt about-face?
The only thing I truly liked about those last two eps was the last 15 minutes. I have no problem admitting that I was brought to tears as the Doctor made his final rounds to see everyone one last time. Martha and Mickey (they got married??), Sarah Jane and her son, putting Jack and Alonso together (OMG, loved that!), going to Donna's wedding and finally, seeing Rose. That last part confused me for a minute since she didn't know who he was. Until she says it's 2005, right before she meets Nine. Loved him telling her she was going to have a great year.
And then the Ood singing was so beautiful and the Doctor saying, "I don't want to go". Heartbreaking!
What an awesome, awesome ride with Ten and all his companions. Loved it from start to finish.
And now I'm off to start back at the beginning with Rose and Nine!

And I can understand your "go back to the beginning and start over" thing :) I do watch the new ones when they come out, but to be honest I didn't like Matt Smith's doctor (We will see about Capaldi). I'm not sure if it's Matt Smith or the writers but I really don't like him. Usually when I get that need to watch DW I watch something from the 9-10 era.

I watched three eps of Matt Smith and that was enough for me. I just couldn't click with him the way I did David Tennant. Though I did like him in the 50th anniversary special.
I've only seen one ep with Nine. I was watching Torchwood at the time and found out that Captain Jack got his start on Who, so I watched the ep where Rose turns him immortal. Been waiting for BBCA to repeat all of Nine's eps but they never have, so I downloaded them all. :-) I hope to start watching them next week!
