Timey-wimey and all that stuff

So I finally saw my first Doctor Who episode with Rose and the Tenth Doctor. Yay!

For some reason BBCA was stuck on endlessly repeating all the episodes with Martha and about a half dozen episodes with Donna. This week they finally started showing the ones with Rose. I was hoping that they'd actually go back to the beginning, with the Ninth Doctor. I've only seen one ep with Eccelston, the one where John Barrowman is introduced as Captain Jack Harkness. Wonder if BBCA will ever show those.

Anyway, Rose is great and Billie and David Tennant have wonderful chemistry together. I like her as much as Martha. Really looking forward to finding out exactly what happened with Rose and the Doctor, how they got separated. From what I've been able to gather from the Martha and Donna episodes it was pretty traumatic and it seems that the Doctor has never really gotten over losing her.

Do I have any other fellow Whovian's on my flist? I'm only 50 years late to the party, but I made it! LOL!

I've never been the biggest Rose fan. :X I really love Donna though, hopefully you can see some of her eps! (And if you have Netflix they are all up there!)

So far I’m enjoying Rose and I absolutely loved Martha. Donna...I’m reserving judgement on until I see more of her eps. I’ve seen about five and so far she’s just kinda annoying. But I know she was really popular so I might change my opinion. Check back with me later! :-)

Not a huge Doctor Who fan, but I know what happened with the Doctor and Rose, at least. My favorite companion has to be Amy, and my favorite Doctor is Ten.

I’ve been told I need to break out the tissues for the last ep with Rose. [sniff]

I’m so glad I fell head over heels for Tennant in Broadchurch, which then inspired me to start watching his eps of Who, because I absolutely adore him.

Be prepared to cry when they part!
Tennant wins all the polls for favourite Doctor so it seems, I like him as equally as I do Matt. :-)
Have you ever seen Dr Who at the Proms? Marvellously entertaining!

Oh gosh, I had a feeling that’s how it was going to be! I’ll have my kleenex ready.

No! I’ve never even heard of it! It’s an episode?

At the Proms is fab! Its music from Dr Who during the Proms at the Royal Albert Hall, London.
There's been three concerts so far, 2008, 2010 & 2013. I can only find the full version on youtube for 2008 (the first one they did) and 2013.

Here's 2 links, but they will be spoiler full as there's interspersed snippets of the show. Up to Matt. Hope you enjoy! :o)

Edited to say, the 2013 is much better quality as its by the BBC. :o)

P.S. As you love David, have you seen him in Casanova? Mini series here in the UK a number of years ago, excellent!

Thank you so much for the links! I've downloaded them from YouTube and I hope to have time this week to sit down and watch. :-)

It took me ages to find downloads for Casanova but I was finally successful! I plan on watching that this week, too. I had to laugh at what I saw - David looks so young!

You're very welcome!

Happy viewing, I hope you enjoy! :D

Edited to say that I found myself having to buy the dvds as the memories of watching this so many years ago made me so want to rewatch!

Heya, Barb!

I guess I count -- watched almost all of each of new Doctors, though I did miss a few eps here and there during Eleven's tenure. :)

Yep, re: Ten and Rose -- Heartbreaking and bittersweet.

Bert! Wow, good to see you pop up here! :-)

I’ve got more Who fans on my flist than I realized. Awesome!

I’m so glad I fell head over heels for Tennant in Broadchurch, which then inspired me to start watching his eps of Who, because I absolutely adore him.

Love Doctor Who! Eleven is still my fave, followed by Ten, Nine, and then Four. I don't get why so many people seemed to dislike Amy and Rory; they're my faves, really. I liked Rose just fine, more than Martha, and Donna was okay but she verged on being annoying to me for some reason.

I’m so glad I fell head over heels for Tennant in Broadchurch, which then inspired me to start watching his eps of Who, because I absolutely adore him. I’ve seen just a few of Matt Smith’s eps and he just doesn’t do much for me. I do believe the Tenth Doctor is my Doctor. :-)

Now Martha I just loved and wished she’d have stuck around longer because of the eps I’ve seen with Donna she’s a complete ditz and completely annoying.

*Raises hand* Original fan, watching the daleks from behind the sofa since I was a little nipper. Ten is my favourite doctor to date. Some great episodes in Rose's season. Have tissue boxes ready for the end.

A very good friend of mine had watched it since he was a kid, too, and he tried over and over to get me hooked on it and it just never stuck. If it hadn’t been for me falling head over heels for Tennant in Broadchurch I probably still wouldn’t be watching. But I just had to check out his episodes after Broadchurch and now here I am! I do believe the Tenth Doctor is my Doctor. :-)

Oh gosh thanks for the warning about the tissues. I had a feeling it was going to come down to that!

Me! Me! I loved all doctors 9-11, but Ten is my favorite. And I know some people don't like Rose but I adored her. Although I was glad to move on to Martha when the time came. And Donna rocked. My unpopular opinion: I despised Amy Pond.

I’ve only seen three eps with Rose so far but I like her a lot. And I loved Martha. My unpopular opinion: Donna is a ditz and I don’t care for her. Sorry! LOL! But I’ve only seen about five eps with her, to be fair. So I may revise my opinion. Check back with me later! :-)

Donna grows on you slowly. At least that's the way it happened for me. I found her abrasive and annoying at first, and then she just becomes his total BFF. And by the end I absolutely worshiped her. Let me know if your opinion changes. Tennant just gets more and more awesome as his series progresses (and his hair gets crazier and crazier and sticks up higher and higher!)

[identity profile] agt-spooky.livejournal.com 2014-03-08 01:46 am (UTC)(link)
That’s good to know about Donna. Her episodes get started next week, in fact. LOL about David’s hair! He needs to wear those glasses more often. He’s totally adorably geeky in them!

I watched it as a child from behind the sofa, but now I've mostly passed the torch to my sons who are fanatical Whovians. Of the modern doctors, I have to say I did love Tennant.

We've watched it off and on since time began. :) My favorite is 9, then 10 (after a few eps), and it took me awhile to like 11. I have 9's season on dvd and I cried when the Dr and Rose parted. We didn't watch a lot of the Amy & Rory eps because I really detested Amy.

A very good friend of mine has been trying to get me to watch for nearly 15 years but I just couldn’t connect with it. Then I saw Tennant in Broadchurch and fell in love with him. It inspired me to seek out his Who eps and I’m so glad I did!

I don’t think BBCA is ever going to show 9’s eps so I’m in the process of downloading them. I need to know how he and Rose parted and then her reaction to seeing Ten.

[identity profile] recycledmedia.livejournal.com 2014-03-05 12:13 am (UTC)(link)
Let me know if you need any and I'll upload.

[identity profile] agt-spooky.livejournal.com 2014-03-08 01:49 am (UTC)(link)
I just downloaded all of Nine’s episodes. :-) Didn’t want to wait around and see if BBCA was ever going to get around to them!

[identity profile] duffy-99.livejournal.com 2014-03-05 08:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, I hope you do get to watch Nine. Nine and Rose's relationship really sets the stage for her relationship with Ten.

I didn't start watching Dr. Who until David Tennant became The Doctor. He is my favorite Doctor(and wasn't he great in Broadchurch?!). Rose was my favorite companion until they introduced Amy and Rory. I absolutely love the Amy and Rory storyline. 50 years late we may be, but we are here now and enjoying it! Hmmm I don't have a Dr. Who icon, will have to get one.

[identity profile] agt-spooky.livejournal.com 2014-03-01 01:55 am (UTC)(link)
Same here! I fell in love with him when I watched Broadchurch, and that made me seek out his Doctor Who eps. So glad I did! I’ve seen a couple with Matt Smith and just didn’t care for him. I still need to see more than one Eccleston ep, but I think Ten will be my favorite. I’m really enjoying Rose and I loved Martha but I thought Donna was a ditz. :-)
